Watching this show on the free Hulu got me through a very long and cold Boston winter. All that sun, Hawaiian beaches, a deep mystery and intrigue -- I loved it. I would rate the first couple of seasons a full five stars. The best storylines, like "The Dharma Initiative," were even tinged with historical satire. After the first few seasons, though, the show betrayed its own pretenses. By virtue of being a castaway story, the show had to have a basic commitment to realism. Daniel Defoe knew that when he landed Robinson Crusoe on the island, the novel was going to be about reality -- about what a human being needs to survive, about what the experience does to the human psychology. But when the show's writers abandoned reality and started reaching for a supernatural explanation of how the cast got on the island -- well, that's when it started to sound like a Scientology lecture and I didn't trust them anymore. The last season was incomprehensible to me.

I watched 3 seasons of this show and i can honestly say nothing ever seemed to happen. First two seasons was not bad but the writers i think ran out of material after that. The show most of the time had no sense of direction and everytime you thought something good was going to happen you found out something lame.

Good premise for a show, especially during season 1. However, let's be honest, the writers didn't know what the hell they were doing and just made up the plot haphazardly as they went along. It's as if they banked on their success by spending all that money getting drunk and coked out at a local bar until they realized that their deadline was the next day, which would have prompted them to throw something random together as fast as possible, which they then laid on top of the existing plot to create a sense of mystery. They probably all laughed over it, said "screw it, we'll fix the plot next week" and went back to snorting coke. I mean, come on, let's face it, you'd have to be coked out to make a plot like that. They also had a ton of plot holes. It actually got so bad that they had to do what every failed show does to fix that problem: incorporate time travel. Cheap! They built up so much mystery and for a time, it showed promise, but they decided to cop-out with cliches and ... Read more

Lost is for me the BEST TV SHOW EVER ! This show gripped me from the very first episode and I never looked back and I never missed a single second of it. I must admit I was a late viewer and caught up watching the DVDs in season 4. The only season I watched on the TV network only was the final season. I would actually recommend watching LOST on DVD because then you can keep watching episodes back to back and not get as "lost" watching it. You can NOT miss any episode or you will certainly be LOST ! You will be Lost no matter what I guess. This is a visual emotional thought provoking show like nothing I've ever seen. It has so many elements that appeal to me personally, I really loved it. I could never get enough of this show. I miss it now that it is gone and over. If you have not seen LOST you should treat yourself to the first episode on DVD. You will know right away if this is a show for you....if it is ...you won't be disappointed (100+ hours later of viewing pleasure).

I have been watching this show from day 1. At times I wonder what the heck is going on! But I tell you what - this is the best, most original, most entertaining show that has come along in years! It always has you thinking and wanting more! I LOVE this show.

This show just don't make no sense. I've tried again and again. I hearn and I seen, but what it mean, I'll never know. This were like reading the Mahabarata for me. Too long and epic. Troublesome, to put it in a way that I don't understand.

I saw this yesterday the ending episodes. It is winding up. In a way this is interesting to find out what happens. Mostly I have lost whatever interest I had in it which was not that much before. I didn't have a TV before. I lose them on purpose sometimes so I won't watch it. The girls at work were watching it before behind me or talking about me and I knew they were over rating it. They waited breathless for the next episode. So there was a scene where one was supposed to go see a man and kill him - it was the older bald guy. He was easily talked into this even though the guy tortured him. Then the older guy just pulled the knife out and gave it back to him not dead. It wasn't explained exactly either. They then had a deadline to leave. The smoke monster came which was a letdown. I never thought they were all that good looking that they had been raving about. I just never got interested in it. Many wanted to find out what the mystery was before so it has already come out or is coming ... Read more

*2* Stars, especially if you've been watching it from the get-go. (The year is 2035. Jumbo and Jack are sitting on a rock, talking. Let's listen in...) Jumbo: "So, dude, have you heard the news?" (Jack's eyes dart to the left...then to the right): "No. What?" Jumbo: "Dude! The Others broke into the studio, slaughtered the writers and made-off with the scripts, dude." (Jack's eyes dart to the left...then to the right.) Jumbo: "Just look at me Jack. I've been climbing and hiking and eating leaves and I haven't lost an ounce in 31 years of episodes. This place isn't being controlled by the Dharma Initiative. It's been the caterers all along, dude! I'm getting so fat that I can't fit into the parallel universes anymore! By the way, dude, I saw the new scripts; don't bend down in front of John in episode 7, dude!" (Jack's eyes dart to the left...then to the right.) Jumbo: "They're never gonna let us off this set, dude. Never!" (The only way they're gonna save this show is with a h... Read more

I give Lost four, not five stars. It would have been five a season or two ago, but to a lot of fans it has become clear that there was never a direct storyline that the writers were following. For a long time we believed they were leading us in a direction that was pre-conceived and well thought out. After the fifth season, it was clear that the storyline was at partially if not mostly, rewritten/changed at will each season. Still, it is one of the more interesting shows on television of the last decade. It challenges the viewer in many different ways (religious, scientific, it's a good mystery, good sci-fi) and is entertaining at the same time.

Get Lost!!!! The survivors of a plane crash are LOST on a remote island somewhere in the pacific ocean in the middle of nowhere. Basically this series is a little bit of everything. Each episode consists of Adventure, drama, action, mystery, thriller, comedy and so much more. Lost is the kind of series that you start to watch and you find yourself watching ten or more episodes in one day. You cant miss a single second of any episode or future episodes will not make sense. There is a doctor, a convict, a millionaire, an architect, a lawyer, a love triangle and even an underground world that awaits to be discovered. Will they get off the island alive, its for you to find out!!!!!!!

i saw the previews and thought it would be another one of those dumb shows that i would be forced to hear dumb people talk about and see on the cover of every dumb magazine. but my dad actually sat me down to watch an episode and i was hooked. i've seen few tv dramas to rival this show. sure it keeps you guessing, but ya know, sometimes it's nice to not be spoon-fed all the answers and to actually put the good ole' brain to work.UPDATE (2/11/07): Sooner or later we have to start getting answers, right? or are they going to keep answering our questions with more questions?  Ever episode introduces a new twist or a new set of circumstances that you had no idea was coming.  The writing for this show simply amazes me. How do they come up with this stuff? and it all hooks together.  There's never really been a show that I simply could not wait for the next one, but these guys did it. Superb writing, superb acting, so far it's a masterpiece...lest they never give me any answers. haha

Lost was really good in the first season or two, but has fallen off a bit lately. The first episode of lost was probably the best initial episode of any TV show ever. But having to keep making an obscure show is taking it's toll. It's the Gilligan's Island effect.

Oh God. I'm so glad I stopped watching Lost when I did (when there was like ONE island). It should never have gone on as long as it has. To anyone still watching, STOP. It's not worth it. You are only going to be further confused and disappointed.
