Dr. Cain and his staff provided me with new medication, excellent support and paperwork turnaround to assist me with serious work issues. They respond and gave me an appointment faster that all the other doctors that I have seen. They were the best!!

I would definitely recommend Dr. Cain and his staff. He's a nice guy and he won't waste your time. He wanted answers to my problem as much as I did and I really appreciate that in a doctor.

I've been a patient of Dr. Cain's for several years. I wish I had seen him many years ago. He was able to diagnose my condition after many years of going to different drs. with no answers. He is upfront and honest and doesn't try to sugar coat. I highly recommend him and his office staff!

I have been looking for a neurologist for a long time for my migraines. I did some research and several people found Dr. Cain to be a good doctor. So today I called to make an appointment. The receptionists took all of my information and told me to wait for the nurse to call me back and schedule an appointment. I found that to be weird that I had to go through 2 people just to get the date of my appointment. 3 hours later Melissa (the nurse) called me back and started to ask me question that have nothing to do with scheduling an appointment. Not only that but she was extremely rude and unprofessional. She would not let me finish my sentences; she would talk to me with an attitude and not answer any of my questions. After I answered all of her questions I told her that I am in a lot of pain and would like to see a doctor. After all she told me that she needs to see if they can do anything and when I asked her what does she mean by ?IF they can do anything? she said :?Exactly that!? and... Read more

I really appreciate it when A doctor and his staff remembers my name, medical history, life changes and events, and concerns. When I have a problem I call the nurse and teh doctor calls me back with advice and issues. So instead of making me come in for every little adjustment he works with me over th ephone. Dr. Cain is genuinely concerned with my issues. Plus it is hard to find a doctor who actually listens to you. It is sad but true. Dr. Cain not only listens but remembers. I highly recommend Dr. Cain to anyone suffering from headaches.

I had an appointment today and I could not be more pleased. Like most people when you visit the doctor you are not in the best of moods. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a smile. When the nurse was taking my information, she was so sweet and thoughful. Dr. Petroff was very thorough. My best experience was with Teresa. She was very sweet, not to mention very funny. All the while, every member of the staff still kept it very professional. Although I am not looking forward to my next visit, for obvious reasons, it will be nice to see all of the people in the office! Thank You.

I've had multiple disappointing encounters with Dr. Cain. He was very harsh towards me during my initial visit, talking to me in a very condescending manner, not giving me straight answers to my questions and continually trying to shorten our visit (I waited 45 minutes to see him for 8 minutes). He diagnosed me with Adult ADD and told me I was the "perfect candidate for treatment" but I was too fat. He told me to lose 50 pounds and get "those nasty jawels" off of my neck (my body fat is 16%, I'm 235 pounds but not obese). He gave me a target to reach for my BP and he intended to prescribe me Adderol if my pressure was where he wanted it. My BP was where he wanted it within a very short period of time but he refused to see me and I was forced to deal with his nursing staff over the phone. While they were cordial, they did inform me that even though I had met the requirements Dr. Cain set for me and even though he stood by his diagnosis that I was a "perfect" candidate for treatment he r... Dr. Cain is wonderful! He is very inquisitive and interested in my symptoms. I have also seen Dr. Heytens in the same office and she is also great. Everyone I have dealt with at Associated Neurological Specialties is very nice and I'm always seen within 5 minutes of my appointment time! I highly recommend a visit to Dr. Cain's office if you have any neurological issues.

I had lost the faith in finding a physician who actually listened and cared about me as a patient. In the past year I have consulted many doctors to find that none seemed to want to take the time to listen and treat my ongoing problems with numbness and burning in my hands and feet as well as my history with insomnia. I found Dr. Cain and his staff to be professional and concerned. The immediate response to my complaints were dealt with in a kind manner with a sense of urgency I have not experienced since moving to the Hill Country. Hats off to Robert Cain and his staff.

My records and insurance information were confirmed with their office a week before my first appointment, but of course the day of my scheduled appointment they can find no information about me. One moment my records and information are there, the next moment nobody has a clue, this has happened on more then one occasion.

Dr. Cain is very personable and seems knowledgeable, but I don't know that reading an MRI and saying "you need surgery," makes for a great doctor. He seems to be highly repected in his field for diagnosis, but he said I had an issue with my C8 vertebrae. C8 vertebrae? I'm no doctor and I new better, but he later corrected himself after going over a spine diagram with me. The WORST is his office. I was bed ridden for two weeks due to a severly hemorrhaged disk that is pinching a nerve. I called his office to set an appointment seven different times over the course of two weeks without a single response from his staff. I finally received a response over two weeks later and set an appointment. But, I had to wait another week before I could come in. So, it took over three weeks just to get my first appointment. During my first visit he asked me to run downstairs, get an MRI done, and bring it back up to him. So I told his staff what his orders were and they laughed as they set... Read more

I had 2 major back surgeries when I was 15. The Surgeon was Dr. Dossett; he is the team back doctor for the Mavs, the Stars, the Cowboys, the Rangers, and the Rodeo Association. I've seen him on HBO and the Discovery health channel. I've seen him converse with Jerry Jones (owner of the Cowboys) about his players. He has performed back surgeries on several major athletic stars. After my Back surgery, I used Vioxx to control my pain from Sciatica. When Vioxx was taken off the market, I had no replacements that could help me out side of opiate narcotics. Dr. Dossett could not help me. I finally found Dr. Cain at a point in my life where the pain had transformed me from a star athlete in high school to a 19 year hold who had to use a wheel chair in the mall and couldn't walk much without a cane after 3 p.m. The pain made me seriously consider suicide. I just couldn't bare it and the narcotics were terrible. Dr. Cain helped me fine the proper medication that enabled me to return t... Read more

I went to see Dr Cain for a second opinion and came away with the decision to stay with him as my Primary Doctor. I took my medical records with me and waited about 15mins for my appointment. Dr Cain listened to me and then started telling me more about my condition then I knew. It was obvious he had read my records throughly and gave me some information from my records that I did not know. His staff setup an MRI that day and Dr Cain reviewed the results with me within an hour of completion, Not Weeks but an HOUR!. The next morning he had another wonderful Dr on his staff perform an EMG and after reviewing the results within minutes he sent me back to her 3 more times to test a different way or area. This meant to me he was actively reviewing her results and wanted more information. I believe with other Dr's this would probably not have been done or would have taken 3 more separate visits and payments. Within mnutes he was sitting down with me and reviewing the results and making recom... Read more

In 3 decades of seeing all kinds of medical professionals, I've never felt more cared for, at ease, & welcome as I have at the offices of Associated Neurological Specialists. After being a patient of Dr. Robert Cain's for many years I can state unequivocally that he is a supremely skilled, informed, & trustworthy professional, with a bedside manner so confident, warm & witty he makes it a pleasure to go for a checkup. Likewise his staff is always as attentive, concerned & friendly as any I've ever known. They've accommodated my busy schedule, my many questions, my sometimes difficult insurance company, & of course my medical care, as a priority - never making me feel rushed or unimportant, or just another "number" like many doctors office's staff do. They're truly exceptional people doing a great service to all their patients & I can't recommend them any higher!.

I've been a patient of Dr Cain's for over 7 years now. Not only has he been a great healthcare provider he is a great person in general. I recently had some unexpected life changes and he has always told me what I needed to hear not what I wanted to hear. Also due to him I'm in excellent condition as far as my illness I have. Along with his staff, he has been one of the best doctors I've been with in my lifetime!!! There should be more doctors like him.

Although I have been a patient of Dr. Cain's for several years and always considered the care I received from his office to be top-notch, I have noticed some recent changes in his office that have improved my office visits. He has hired an entirely new, extremely friendly and helpful, front office staff. He has also hired a new office administrator and expanded his billing department to four people. His wonderful long-time nurse, Matthews, is still with him and is as conscientious and accommodating as ever. In addition to Matthews, he has hired 3 new friendly and knowledgeable RN's. I feel that this expansion of his staff and the changes he has made have improved the efficiency of the office and have improved the quality of care and response time overall. The office is always very busy, but you can sense the effort to excel.

Dr. Cain is an outstanding doctor and provides care that is above and beyond what most doctors provide in this field. He takes the time to listen, run tests, and focus on resolving root cause of migranes headaches better than any doctor we have seen in 20 years. His staff is very professional (especially his RN, Sharon Kerr) and they go out of their way to make sure that the patient is receiving the best care. I truly appreciated the positive attitude and the extra support they provided to my wife during our last visit. They are truly an amazing team. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone who is looking for a doctor that cares about you and your health and does what is needed to help get you back on track!

I have been to Dr. Cain a couple of times and appreciate his professionalism and concern for my well-being. He is a very smart man and always considers all of the options. His front office staff is very friendly and upbeat. I also appreciate the time that the nurses took to discuss the problems that I was having. They also went over every detail of my medications and made sure that I understood exactly what to do. No long wait and nice office.

I'm very satisfied with the care I get from Dr. Cain and his staff. They are always courteous and helpful, especially when handling referrals to other facilities for testing. I'm always seen promptly when arriving at the office and am not kept waiting for long periods. Dr. Cain takes the time to explain my test results to me, and answers any questions I have in a straightforward professional manner, without being condescending or overly technical. I found Dr. Cain after relocating to Austin, seeking care for a pre-existing condidion, and have seen several neurologsts in other cities over the last few years. I feel fortunate to have found a good neurologist on my first try here in Austin.

On first visit, Dr. Cain seemed pretty darn good. He was nice, seemed sincere and took time to get to know me. Soon after I found problems; he had suggested that based on the test results that brought me to him, I may have one of many degenerative muscle problems. Yet after dropping this bomb, he became extremely difficult to get in touch with and when I could get him on the phone his answers were short, simple and he did not listen to my concerns. On my final visit, when I came to get some possibly life-changing test results, he walked in the room and said 'I don't know why you're here, we don't have the results.' I told him his assistant had phoned me the day before saying otherwise. While looking through his file he said 'well I left early yesterday to go see a baseball game, so I wouldn't know.' He found the results, though. At the end of the whole affair (two months worth of worrying and several tests including a surgery) he asked me a simple question 'had I worked out the d... Read more

I have the opportunity to see both Dr. George Petroff and Dr. Robert Cain and am very impressed with both physicians. Besides offering top notch medical care, they are both very conscientious and kind. I look forward to my future visits and would highly recommend either physician to family and friends in need of a neurologist. Furthermore, their office staff is extremely polite and helpful.

I really liked Dr. Cain. I appreciated him taking the time with me and going over my MRIs and explaing everything to me. I got more info about my disease and I liked that I could ask him as many questions as I wanted and that he gave me good advice. He seemed to care and i didnt feel like he was rushing, like doctors normally do. I liked the girls who worked the front desk,. They were really friendly. I did not talk to any of the nurses yet so I cant say anything about that.

Dr. Cain is an honest and forthright doctor. I appreciate his knowledge about my disease and I have liked going to see him. However, his nursing staff changed this summer and since then, I have had less than "bedside manner". They don't always capture the correct info and don't let the patient get a word in edgewise. This has occurred multiple times and I think it is less than acceptable. I was also told by Dr. Cain that there had been other complaints about the shortness of a nurse.

Most doctors dont have time to really listen to you and to tell you THE TRUTH, Dr. Cain is one of the nicest, most genuine doctors I have ever met. Highly Recommended.
