Wish I would've read the reviews before wasting my time! I'm sorry if immature people have come into your store in the past but, chasing away customers that want to spend money isn't exactly good business strategy. I have macular degeneration and honestly didn't see the "no drinks" sign. You would've thought I tried to steal the way they reacted. Didn't realize a closed water bottle would be a problem on a hot day. They followed us around the store like we were going to hurt their stuff.... made us all very uncomfortable and we left. I will NEVER go back. Try ARTpool in St. Pete... they are super nice and the selection is better. There is another Vintage Shop on Henderson that has some unique stuff too called Green Spring I think? There are way better places to go with far better service. Don't waste your time with these people.

Hey it's not just the teens who are treated rudely. I've shopped there three or four times and each time was treated so poorly. I thought he was just pegging me as a "South Tampa Snob" (I wouldn't be surprised if the owner wrote the first description above) In fact I'm a professional artist who used to give - and take- art classes in that actual building in the 70's. I decided never to step foot in there the last time I was there, a year ago, as he answered my questions in his affectedly bored and condescending voice. He's a creepy rude jerk who needs to be in a different business.

I came across the other reviews and was not surprised to see that many others have commented on the owner's attitude. It's quite unusual to rub so many customers the wrong way, but this guy has done it extremely succesfully. The first time I went in with two family members, he said "Are you planning to buy something? This isn't a museum." ...Wow... well, we were considering buying something AND certainly planned to come back in the future b/c the place sells some great stuff; however, after that comment we all decided to never shop there again. As I told a friend of mine about this unusual store experience, he said, "Oh yeah, I had a similar experience in that store TWICE before." Well, after 2-3 years, I stopped in again recently thinking I'd give it another chance. I didn't see the guy in there at first and the woman running the register was very nice. However, as the woman was helping me, the guy (who was the same one I described above) made a rude comment toward me... I was looking for boots to wear for Halloween and I said I was hoping to find ones with a platform and higher heel. He said, "Oh, so you want to look like a hoochie?" I didn't really know how respond... Strange and completely inappropriate thing to say to a customer. This guy really needs to completely STOP interacting with costumers, and instead needs to make a good business move and stick to inventory or something where he can stay to himself at all times. If so many customers have had a bad experience in this store b/c of the attitude and negative air in that place, and if he wants to have repeat business, he should really consider seeking professional psychological attention. It might be a good business move for an otherwise cool store that I think has the potential to do well.

I can sympathize with people that probably deal with annoying teenagers frequently but they should not treat all individuals under the age of 30 as if they are awful. I personally feel a duty to give good mom and pop stores some business especially during this time with the economy being so poor. This store does not care, apparently, that the customers are an important part of the business process, they just treat them as dirt. I'm a courteous person and yet I found the lady breathing down my back saying "don't take more that two sunglasses of the stand at one time" (which I wasn't), I was taking pictures of cool items to show my friend and heard "Are you taking pictures of items that you want to purchase?! You should ask to take pictures." (after I said sorry and asked for permission she didn't answer and huffed away), then my phone rang and I was talking about how nice the store was and heard, "We have rules! No talking on cell phones!" Later I saw her on her phone texting and asked her about the double standard and she replied "It's rude to talk on the phone and the customers and I don't care about what you were saying and it really shows your age." I found that reply especially ironic seeing as to how I can't imagine you being more rude than that lady, she should like what I was saying because it was good things about her store, and if she's implying my age is automatically inferior than by her logic every ugly hag is a totally idiotic B (you can fill in the other letters for lack of a more appropriate term for her. I put away the item that I was going to buy and quietly went to my car I will never give service to such mean people and I beg you to do the same.

I had a surprise retro Birthday party for my husband. We had 50 guests attending. The owner made it a breeze for all of my guests to dress up 100% authentically. He gave us discounts, was very helpful, and even stayed open late. It was a huge success! My husband thought it was awesome. Thanks Squaresville!!

I recently bought a belt buckle from this place and went to try and exchange it and not only was I treated unprofessionally but they would not let me exchange the belt buckle for a more expensive one AND I had the receipt that showed I purchased the item only 2 weeks prior! I would understand had the item been clothers or shoes but a belt buckle? I have never had such awful customer service and I will never shop here again.

Never seen a place with so much awesome vintage stuff from 60's, 70's, 80's. Yes the owner is a little snippy but he knows his stuff. You can browse for an hour and memories of the past will come flooding back. Find Buccaneer logos from the very early days, furniture from your parent's house circa 1973, and clothes styles you thought you had forgotten . Awesome place, one of a kind.

They do carry a lot of cool stuff that's hard to find, but to me, it's not worth having to deal with bad attitudes. Every time I go in there it gets worse, and it's to the point now where I will never go back and will tell other people never to go in again. A lot of my friends have had similar experiences and don't want to spend our hard-earned money in a place where they don't care to treat you with respect. I work in customer service and will never complain about it unless it really is THAT bad, but it does no good to complain to the owner, as he has probably the worst attitude of them all.

The Goods
Guayaveras, Playboy shirts, wall clocks featuring Bettie Page in full dominatrix splendor, kidney-bean-shaped coffee tables, square-rimmed sunglasses. This Howard Avenue furniture-clothing store puts the R-E-T-R-O in a neighborhood where every other person looks like he/she stepped out of a Gap catalog (yawn). Let's give props to the funkafied. Let's wear gasoline shirts embroidered with the name Bill.

The Scene
Spend hours getting lost amid the racks and shelves filled with vintage goodies of all sorts. Good luck walking home without shelling out a least a little cash, whether it's for an art deco-inspired lamp or a shirt that could've come straight off of Elvis' back. Expect to see a typically South Tampa crowd in here: Hyde Park snobs, scenesters, rave kids, hipsters and anyone with an appreciation for decades a-go-go.
