I took a Toshiba laptop to Richard's back in 2005 and got great service for a good price. So, when my Dell got a nasty virus last month, I took it to them. They quoted me less than anyone else and with a 48 hour turn around, so I dropped it off to them. I wish I had read these reviews first. They never called us back when they said they would, and sounded really put out to talk to us. We got the computer back in only 3 days, but I'm convinced that's only because we kept calling them and calling them to make sure they were sticking to their quoted price & time. Dell has an auto-reformat function that should have restored it to factory settings once they recovered our hard drive info. We got the computer back and they had installed 2 different Windows OS's, one of which was corrupt. Nothing was running right and it was all just jacked up. Yes, the computer was working, which was more than it was when we took it in, but this was NOT what you pay a professional company for. Your 13 year o... Read more

I dropped my laptop to fix a power issue. Was quoted $60.00 to analyze the problem and I agreed. After several days I called to check status and was told I need a new power plug and that it's $28.00 and the $60 labor fee. I agreed to the repair and was told parts had to be ordered. After 2 weeks I checked and was told it was being tested and someone would call me. No call so a few days later I called and was told it was ready. When I arrived to pick it up they had replaced the mother board for $289 and the labor was $120. When I stated I would never approve over $400 to fix a 5 year old laptop. I was told that it's on the ticket approved and that someone called me. No one ever called me. I was then told it's not their fault if I don't check my messages. No message left. They don't have time to keep calling people. They offered to remove the new part and put my old parts in it and I would have to pay the labor. Since this would mean a loss of $120 I paid for the repair. Thi... Read more

I took my laptop to Richards Computers on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 because of a problem with the hard drive. Two days later, they informed me that the hard drive was bad and required replacement. So they backed up my data, installed a new hard drive (or so I thought), and reload the data. On Monday, they called twice to inform me that laptop was ready for pick up. I showed up only to be told to wait another hour-and-a-half because they had not finished all the work. The guy at the desk gave a lame excuse that things should not be rushed, blah blah blah... That's not the point. They told me it was ready for pickup. Twice! With no mention of the 'lame excuse'. So I came back two hours later to pick it up. They knocked $20 (cheap!) off for the inconvenience. Before leaving, I asked the other guy at the desk what hard drive was in my laptop. He said it was a 100GB, 7200rpm HDD and nothing more. I assumed it was a new hard drive and left. A week later, on Sunday, the laptop failed to start... Read more
