The 2009 Rubicon is an amazing work horse that spoils the rider! The power steering in combination with the exceptional "Hydrostatic" Automatic Transmission w/t low range and the option to shift gears manually couldn't be better! Don't let the steepest down hill grades bother you! This Transmission will hold a load at a snails pace in extremely steep terrain! With one hand on the bars, I might add, with it's well thought out Power steering one can ride all day in rugged country and still have the energy to chop wood at the end of the day! My Cousins impressed with this Rubicon, I towed his Polaris several miles through some real tough stuff! Then I winched his machine onto the trailer, "With a Smile Of Course"!!! :) *

this has been the worst atv I have ever owned, since I have owned it I have replaced the hydrostatic drive, centrifical clutch, water pump x2, the trottle lever siezes all the time, front bearing, it don't like to start in the cold, it don't like to start after a couple of days not running, lacks power, it is a 2001 and has around 8000km on it, all around bad bike. My wife drives it because I refuse to.... KAWASAKI all the way.

I have an 08 rubicon cte and i beat the crap out of it all the time and it takes it. I had no problem with the stock tires ( actually very good in snow) Ive buried the bike time after time and managed to work my way out and because of the hydrostatic drive theres no slipping. as for power and clearance its not bad stock, yea its not as high as some but I go everywhere any other bike goes. but a few mods and its unstoppable. K&N; filter, hmf exhaust, jet kit, 2" lift 26"itp mud lite xtr. Love the bike will never ride anything else!!!! see ya in the mud

08 Rubicon Not built for the extreme Mud. Tough strong as hell you will need to pull it out of mud hole after mud hole. Not enough ground clearance only 3x4 not 4x4 and the stock tires, leave them at the dealer they wont take you anywhere.

I have a 2001, 17956kms and still going strong. Same brakes but needing a change, no adjustment left. No the pump in the transmission needs its oil & filter changes and it will not tolerate water either. Would you submerge your truck until it sucked water then wine because it blew up?? It will treat you llike you treat it. If you want something that can go under water and keep going afterwards by a SUB.

Put 10,000 K on my rubicon before selling it.  Am now trying to decide between rubicon and rincon.  Total parts 60.00 for sensor and 80.00 for wheel bearing.  Still had original breaks and tires and I would rate it far ahead of anything else for getting me out and back.  I also believe these reviews should be disguarded if they have been driven less than 5000k.  Most of the problems I read about seem to have a lot to do with operator error or neglect.  I like to go far and would like to see mileage ratings on these bigger quads.  Thanks GC

Love it...Bought it back in 2002 got 173hrs. and 1000 miles...Haven't had any problems, the Hondamatic transmission has worked awesome with no slip at all. Pulled a 6x8 trailer with 19 grown ups and coolers and chairs up to local high school for fireworks on the 4th. I love the automatic...Enough power to sling it around when you want to play and work...I can always rely on Honda go Team Honda!!!!!

Almost 2000 km on it now. Haven't had a problem with it yet. I love the power and it tops out at about 55 mph. I have used it extensively for both working around the ranch and riding both trails and gravel roads. A fantastic machine. Time will tell on the durability. Knock on wood. Winds out beautifully and light enough to swing with grace. I weigh 240 lbs. and am 6'3" tall. And it moves me with ease. Romain

I have a 2002 and I love it, I bought it cheap when the hondamatic failed, other than that it is an amazing machine. 5000 miles.

Bought a new 2006 Rubicon recently. (discounted as last year's model) I love it. My wife loves it. We use it for both work (cattle ranch) and recreation. I have had no problems at all. I have had other brand atvs, but I really do think this is one solid machine. This may be the only major purchase in my life, where I didn't get any buyers remorse!

Bought my 2006 honda Rubicon in October 2005 and have loved every minute I have owed it. This 4-wheeler has now been everywhere for mud, dirt, sand and even the water where I have floated across the river and canals. Altough I do not suggest it for water unless you have expierance with driving in the water and your 4-wheeler is equiped for it. I am very rough on mine but that is what I bought it for not for cruising I can do that in a car. So far so good I love it and plan soon to buy anouther.

I have three Rubi's. An 01, an 02 and an 05. I'm looking forward to buying an 07 this year. I also own a Yamaha Grizzly. The Rubicon is definately the safer machine. It seems to have a lower center of gravity and doesn't feel "tippy" like the Grizzy. Rubicons are also alot quieter than the Griz. However, hook up a plow and start plowing snow and the Griz will run circles around the Rubicon. Mechanical problems on my Rubicons? Absolutely none other than the 01 needed a new choke cable which I was able to replace easily on my own.

I know all of you who don't like the rubicon areway off. I own a drilling company and nobody on the face of this planet work them harder. 17,000 miles on my oldest one andis still running great. All I can Say is that maybe you people should try some better maintenance. You can bet on one thing after owning 15 rubicons I think I have earned the right to voice my opinion Chris Nebraska

In 2001 I bought a 2002 model Rubicon after 5 years of abuse never had any problems or doubts about this ATV. my driveway is about 1/8 mile long no matter how deep the snow would get never had any problems with a 54" snow blade. I've heard people complain about pulling power I did not see that at all. You have to remember that its a automatic ATV with an assortment of gears so you have to have some common sense about what gear to put it in when pulling something. I've pulled 15 square of shingles on a pallet on a gravel driveway up to my garage doors it was spinning the whole way when I hit the concrete garage floor it was spinning there also but now lack of power at all an that was in D1. Never had any problems in D2 but never pulled something without going to D1. Never had to use super low gear yet for anything. I've had a few ATVs before this one both where Yamahas never had any problems with them either but you wont find a smoother running ATV than a Rubicon. Just 4 w... Read more

Test drove the Rubicon about a month ago. Very nice! The very first thing that I noticed was the power. I will admit that there are a lot of other quads out there with more power and maybe even other 500's that has more power, but the power in combination with the quality of this unit is very rare. I will admit that it doesn't have the top end that the Grizzly has, but only by about 4 to 5 MPH. However, the rest of the abilities will be very close. Things like acceleration,Manoeuvrability and low end power. There was one more thing that stood out for me. It was the ride. This Canadian Trail Edition is very nice for a SRA and even though I didn't try one, the dealer told me that it is like night and day comparing it to a standard Rubicon. The ride was very close to an IRS and with the fact that you get the benifit of stability with a SRA I think I would prefer the SRA. I can see why the price of the Rubicon CTE is what it is. I have driven a Grizzly and even though you have a larger... Read more

bought my rubcon new in 2000 have been using it and abusing it for 6 years, putting it thru gumbo mud and slush have been working it around the farm carrying heavy loads of feed and hay hauling three adults and 400 pounds of corn to the woods to deer feeders. The only problem i have had in the years of use is the choke cable freezing up which wasn't really a problem. I would definitely purchase another and recommend it to anyone if only the people could see what this bike has been thru

I resently bought a 2002 Rubicon and love it. I had used it before it was stolen from the previest owner, a year and a half later, it was found, luckly in fair shape and now I have it. He had already bought a new ATV. The power is nice and I like not having to manual shift. Its great down here in the muds of Louisiana. I remember before it was stolen, I had use it and killed a deer. I put the deer, 2 dogs in the dog box, another hunter and myself on it. Other than being a bit crowded it never looked back. Now if I can only get the years and use that I got out of my 85 Big Red.

Very good ute, but a peice of junk hondamatic unit. Been looking for one of these for about a year now from part outs, and wouldn't you know that this is a common problem with these. Every one I have found was being parted out becouse of the hondamatic unit failing.

I live in one of the most remote parts of British Columbia Canada. I ride with a lot of other people with different types of machines. There is not one ATV out there that I have seen withstand abuse like my Honda Rubicon. There are many other riders in the area with Honda Rubicons and they feel the same way! It has been through deep water, deep mud, hill climbs, swamps, and over countless skidder trails with boulders and logs. After enduring all of this abuse, it still purrs like a kitten

After 5 years and 3000 miles I have had no problems other than a choke cable replacement and that was probably my fault for not lubing it properly. The transmission is the best there is in any ATV. Great choice for work or play.

Very difficult to start if it has not been running for a few days. The primer has to be used repeatedly and this is a bit of a pain considering that the right side cover has to be removed each time. Also had problems with a seized choke cable. Other than that it is really great with nimble steering and the best working transmission I have ever tried.

I love this machine. We had a honda 300 before the rubicon and loved it also, but wanted more power so we bought the rubicon. This machine will go anywhere. We trail ride in Quebec alot and it handles those trails beautifully. I am on 5'2 and this machine fits me nicely. Great job Honda. I will forever own one...Hcrawford
