Yamaha Grizzly

Don't know if the problem is the ethanol they are adding to gasoline, but my 2005 Grizzly 660 is now on its 7th spark plug with under 1000 miles on the odometer. Spark plug looks perfectly fine with bright spark. But once plug is installed, engine still will not start. You simply have to install a new plug and engine will start again. This seems to be a problem if you let the vehicle sit more than 1 month without starting. It can also leave you stranded. My father has same ATV and goes through as many plugs as well. He always keeps 2 new spares just in case. Anybody else have spark plug issues?

i have so meny problems with my 05 grizzly but the one thing that really bugs me is that its reving me out at 60khm or lower if any one knows how to fix it please HELP!! Email me @ [email protected]

Hands down the most user friendly bike I have ever sat on. Tons of power, high and low range gears, power steering, the list goes on!! This bike will go anywhere. Up and down the steepest climbs like butter. Engine braking is excellent. Towing capability is awesome. We use this bike to drag trees up the side of a mountain for firewood and it never misses a beat. The Grizzly is like a tractor, only more comfortable and sporty. I have driven Artic Cats, Bombardiers, Hondas and Polaris and I wouldn't drive any of them over the Yamaha. If you GAVE me a brand new bike of any of those brands, I would still drive my 2007 Grizzly. In fact, the new bike would go straight to the classifieds!! By far, the best, most versatile bike on the market. GO YAMAHA!!!

ANYONE ever heard of the THROTTLE CABLE being routed wrong at the handlebars causing unintended acceleration when turing the handlebar?? The cables being on the outside of the cover and not under it? This can be dangerous.

i have a 2004 yamaha grizzly 660... its been sitting up for about 2yrs and now it wont start up... i've tried cleaning the fuel tank, the pistons put in a a new spark plug and even cleaned the carburator.... any suggestions!!!! need help asap

i have a 05 grizzly 660 with 26" itp 589s and a clutch spring. the atv is awesome so far, lots of power, i expected a little more and the atv to be bigger in size. i had a 01 honda foreman 450s and a honda 400ex sporttrax, this is to all the guys ragging on honda, i switched to yamaha for one reason only, the locking 4x4. honda is an awesome machine but they have fallen behind on the deep mudding 4x4ing by not using diff lockers and stuff like that. my honda was the best machine i ever had even though this yamaha is awesome i dont think itll ever last as long, but it wont get stuck as much. so you choose reliability? or never getting stuck?

the problem with the shafts coming out is a problem yamaha knows about but they say they have never heard of it but they have and have fixed some for some people. they replace the gear in side as well as the inner part of the shaft on both sides. it is caused by a bad design in the gear and c-clips they used. if any body wants info about mods or upgrades for your yamaha atv check out grizzlyowners.com it is a good site

i have a 04 grizzly with 4200 miles on it, its had 8 trips to west virginia, pulled many a honda, polaris, arctic cat, kawasaki, etc. off the trail and its never given me any trouble, ya'll are doin somethin majorly wrong

I have a friend who had the same thing happen. She has a 2005 Yamaha Grizzly 660 and while she was just putting along, it accelerated on it's own, pitching her over the edge of a canyon. She was badly hurt, airlifted to hospital. I'm checking to see if anyone else has had this problem. Would like to contact lookinfortrouble about it.

Have a friend who, whose 2005 Yamaha Grizzly 660 accelerated on its own when he was completely stopped, after he cranking the handlebars completely to one side.  Anybody else ever have this happen?  Is this typical?  What's up?

I own a 2006 Grizzly 660. I live in Alabama so have Temps anywhwere from the teens to the 90's. I beat the crap out of my grizzly everyride and it has never let me down or not gotten me home. But i do have 1 problem maybe somebody can help me with. After i bought it new in FEB 07 after about 20 miles the bulbs just broke off at the connection bouncing around. This happed about 5 times and i finally bout a warn winch bumper combo with the warn trail lights and put a set of Piaa off road lights on it. I took my Grizz 660 out for its first ride on 9/23/07. Outstanding. I went from a Raptor 350 to this machine. Stock tires kinda suck and i thought i heard some rattling but realized it was the hook from the winch. again outstanding

I have had problems with my bike for as long as i have had it. i treat it very well, never jump it or do wheelies. So far, we have had to weld the frame twice because it broke right off.We have also had to replace the recoil spring and the plastic wheel inside of the pull cord case.The speedometer and the lights on the ignition also do not work.The heat shields on the exhaust both broke. I wish we had of bought a Honda. Both of my friends Honda's are still in top running shape. 1 star only because i had too.

i have a 2003 grizzly 660. from day one it has had a problem starting after it has been sitting 3-4 days. even tho it is run every few days, let it go a week and you never know if it will start and run. it has been checked several times. a scary though that you may get stranded. does suck that the problem can't be fixed. NOTE :the rating stars do not go to the negitive side and i had to select one before it allowed me to post

i have a 2002 yamaha grizzly.....good bike but with 8000kms it ius giving trouble.....when u turn the key ahead it starts on it own:S i changed the oil and when i got back from one run it happened again if anyone nos anything about it message me A.S.A.P

I have a 98 Grizzly 600, it has never let me down, never left me on foot, and has performed better than any Honda, or Kawasaki that some of my friends have. Last year I bought a 06 Grizzly 660 it is every bit the machine I thought it would be & then some.

Love my new 700 Griz. Bought it new in March 2007. Put Perelli Mudweiser tires on it and a Warn winch. It felt a little top heavy at first. The dealer tightened up the shocks one click and that took care of it. at 50 hours I had a chain tightening pin on the camshaft break loose. They put a new pin in and a new timing chain. Has worked fine ever since. I dig the power steering and when I'm on the trails I have it in 4x4 mode all the time, I get better control then, but I can't tell the poser steering difference between 4x4 or 2x4. You won't go wrong with this ATV, It is a winner!!!

I have a 98 grizzly 600 with 3500miles, the only reason I would ever get another quad is because someone else in the family started riding. It always gets me home, even when the rear diff bearings went. I guess for 60 bucks over the years and 27" tires things wear out.

i just recently bought a 2005 yamaha grizzly 660 it has 1165 miles on it, i was driving it today through the woods, i put my 4x4 on and it sounded like my front axles were knocking, like my steering gets pushed from right to left,it was fine for the first week when i got it from the dealer, i called the dealer up and they told me that it was normal..can anyone help with this

2003 Grizz, bought it used with 400 miles on it & have loved it, I put the big foot kit on it & soon after broke both axles, but I believe the 27" tires was the cause, now it is over heating when at idle or hard working, anyone have a fix for that?

I think the Grizzly offers tons of power. Even more than the Rincon. But Ill race one any day of the week, because My Rinny handles like its on rails. Also, Ive had to tow one home once because of belt problems. The Rincon is the better bike in my opinion.

I just bought an 06 Grizzly and i love it. You will not be dissappointed with this thing. I have definately put it through the tests. It has passed em all with no trouble. Sure, there are faster bikes out there, but they aren't as reliable and all around super strong as the Grizzly.

I bought the new Grizzly 700 and love it. I have had 4 of the Grizzly 660 and still have two of them. The new Grizzly is the best ride I have ever had. My friends have the Polaris Sportsman 500. After riding my new Grizzly, they are selling there Polaris's and buying the new Grizzly. It is one great ATV and the power steering is very nice.

I have an 05 Grizzly this must be a lemmon the unit over heats all the time and I have had it in the shop 4 times and they still can not find out why this unit does this. I had all I can take so I will be picking up my new 07 today I hope the new 07 will hold up.

I have a 04, have put over 3000 miles on it in West Virginia. I've gone through a few parts but I ride it like I stole it. It has never let me down through mud wate or snow. I never had a problem starting in cold weather. Have camped out an it has been in the teens, maybe a little slow at starting but she would start. I even rolled her down a mountian side about 30 or 40 ft, landed on the wheels and was still running bent the right handlebar down to the tank was all the damage it suffered. I pulled the handle back up into place got a friend to hook my wench to and got back up on the trail. Finished riding that day and rode for two more. So I think they are a well built machine, uses no oil, have not had to do a top end on it yet

I own a 03 and i absolutely love it i traded a wolverine for a kodiak and then the grizzly and it is awesome! I have owned atvs since 1982 and Yamaha has easily beat the old stand by Honda by a mile compared to the three wheeler era.

Grizzlies rule! I climb up super steep rocky slopes and never get stuck (and in mud) Great machine, lots of fun!

I have a 06 grizz and it is by far the best machine made i had to pull out, artic crap, hondah;z, suzukikis, and fucking kawasaki, now dont get me wrong there good bikes for 5 yrs olds but for the real men its all yamaha, i won 5 mud run championships and my bike is completly stock, it has the itp rim ant tires that i got at the dealer so if you ride any other bike i just have to say HAPPY PUSING AND HAVE GREAT WALK,

I have a 2003 grizzly, 3 of my axles have broke with alittle over 200 miles. front diff stuck locked in, after a month after buy it too. Besides that I love it. Kinda think I bought a lemon.

have 04 grizz all axles have broken back axle always pops out of dif this will be easier i will just say what i have changed front dif back dif +2 front drive chaft back drive shaft exaust 2 times dif lock button 2 times centrifical clutch shoes most happend in fist 5000 km now i have 13000 km and still fixing all the time

Rides good has decent power,my best friend has his Grizz more in the shop than the woods, Too much holdback you have to keep pushing on the throttle going down hill very tiring, Like all Yamaha's to much vibration, Go ride everything else first before buying, because it's not cracked up to what it's supposed to be!

I HAVE A 2005 GRIZZLY WITH 700 MILES ON IT I HAVE BROKEN ALL 4 AXLES WENT BACK WITH GORILLA AXLES $1450 I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE WHEEL BEARINGS THE TIE RODS HAVE BENT IN THICK MUD REPLACED THEM WITH CUSTOM MADE 5/8 CHROME ROD MUCH BETTER THAN THE 9/16 ALUMINUM HOLLOW TUBING THEN THE TIE ROD END BROKE WHILE RIDING IN THE GRASS IN MY BACK YARD. THE FRONT DIFF DRAIN PLUG HELICOIL BROKE. THE FRONT DIFF LOCK QUIT WORKING THEN ABOUT 1 MONTH LATER THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SHATTERED GEARS EVERYWHERE WHEN REMOVED IT CAME OUT IN 2 BIG PIECES COMPLETELY BROKEN IN HALF BY THE WAY THE FRONT DIFF COST $ 900 JUST FOR THE PART.EVERYTIME I PULL A TIRE OFF A WHEEL STUD BRAKES WHICH LED TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT RIGHT HUB $120 OVERHEATS EVERY TIME I RIDE IT CONSTANTLY HAVING TO WAIT FOR IT TO COOL DOWN I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND YAMAHA TO ANYONE!!!!!

Just bought the 06 grizz and I love it. I've ridden everything from Artic crap to Honda and never had a smoother faster ride. No problems with the gas boiling or anything else to this point. Of course I rode her hard for about two weeks in the mountains and nothing has come loose or rattled. Started fine in cold weather as well, it was 5 and 6F on consecutive mornings. Just had to adjust the low speep idle a bit. GREAT MACHINE

do nothing but try to destroy it,it is in the top best money spent on fun

I love my '04 Grizzly. It kicks butt against the Hondas I ride with. I'd give it 5 stars if it would start in cold temperatures. If it gets down to 20 degrees...forget it! Dealer tells me that all 660s are the same. Try ice fishing all day and find out you're walkin back to shore in the dark 'cause your ATV won't start!!

I bought the 1st Grizzle from my local shop in 2001 (02 model) and now have 800 miles on it. I love the power and the size. The only problem I have had is the fuel boiling in the tank after a long ride. It is now fixed and doesn't boil gas any more. I have had it to 68 with no problems.

i have a new 05 model,and i have put 350 miles on it we went to the oregon dunes and it tore it up, the engine can make this behemoth can pop up the front tires no problem its the best quad i have ever ridden,and fast 65 miles an hour with my fat butt on it,its a true sport utility

I must have bought a lemon, 05 model with less than 96 miles and it is in shop, the clutch came off and ruined the crankshaft and housing,still waiting on parts... the 4x4 button broke off on first cold morning! Was a great machine til then !

The Grizzly is a nice offering from Yamaha in the ATV/SUV market. Reliability can sometimes be a question. For the price, the Honda Rincon is a superior quad, and you can count on Honda reliability for sure!

I have a 2005 Grizzly. It holds back fantastic for a automatic (unline the Honda Rincon) It has plenty of pep and I only need to put it in low in extreme downgrade, High has enough power for anything you need to do with it.

I have a Grizzly '04 and it rocks! This bike will do anything I wast it to. I ride hard in the woods and on open logging roads. Never had the gas boil or anything break. It's lighter than other brands and has tons of power

We have a 2000 and a 2003 Gizzly, Both have had no problems at all. The 2000 has over 1800 miles and the 03 has 800 miles. just change the oil and air filters but thats it and we ride hard every other weekend.

Our company has 3 2004 model grizzly 660's. All the front drive shafts have failed within 1500km/300 hours and Yamaha have to get parts from Japan which takes weeks. The fuel still boils in the tank. The exhausts all started rattling within six weeks. One burns 250ml of oil a day and blows white smoke.
