It has been a long time since i have seen a kid hit at any store. it is more like letting their little darlings have a run of the store screaming and being naughty. forget inside voices or minding. just for the record, I see plenty of well behaved kids who are quietly walking with their parents. i am not advocating beating a kid. but teaching them how to behave in public is the parents job. some should try and do that. not to mention with all the security cameras phone cameras and video features the parent would not dare Hit their kid even if the children were acting like tyrants. the parent would have it on them for being mean to the " poor innocent kid" hell you cannot even take ahold of their arm to get them out of the store without some bleeding heard accuse them of child abuse. so to imply that a bunch of low life people wait to go to Walmart before they beat their child is just not true.

Not sure what Walmart you've been in.In my Walmart, those little heathens run the store like it's lawless.
Ridgewalker 11/23/2008
I haven't been in a WalMart in years, but I honestly can't remember ever seeing a mother "beat" a child there, or in any store, for that matter. I've seen a little shaking, an occasional potch on the tush, some yelling and some walking away from a kid who wouldn't relent over wanting some toy, or candy. In today's culture, with all of those cameras and politically correct parents mulling around, beating a child in public would surely earn a visit from Child Protective Services. Besides, half of those little rugrats are being drugged into submission and probably was the motivation behind all of those fabricated "conditions"...so they would behave in WalMart...

Parents who were beaten as children sometimes learn from their experience, but unfortunately all most of them learn is to repeat the sins of their parents.
Properly disciplined children - unless suffering from mental illness - don't misbehave in public.
Violence only teaches them that might makes right.
Randyman 11/23/2008
All joking aside, and this goes for anyplace not just Wal-Mart. When a brat knows they have an audience they will give it everything they got and push you to the limits because they figure you won't do anything in front of people. One good ass whooping will go a long ways in the proper upbringing of a kid. Spare the rod, spoil the child. So have at it.

..because they closed most of the K-Marts

Chris Rock has a good view on this. As Chris Rock might say, these kids who are being beat and neglected are going to be robbing you five years down the road. Great parents, huh? Also, please clarify...is this a Super Wal-Mart or just a regular Wal-Mart?
rain43v3r 11/08/2005
I hate to see that. At least wait until you leave the store. But, most kids act their worst in the store to get attention. And some parents just suck, even still.
Gentle Jude 10/23/2005
Because they can't do it in the car, plus that is the time the children will be at their brattiest! Besides, I rarely see this happen anymore.
White Diamond 06/04/2005
Most mothers don't beat their children in Wal-Mart. The little darlings are allowed to act like monsters while the mothers are totally unaware. Also, if you ever go into Wal-Mart and there are no children available for screaming, they will pipe screaming children sounds over the PA system to make us all remember we are in Wal-Mart.
numbah16tdhaha 04/04/2005
Dunno. I guess its a Springer like thing where they need an audience.
texasyankee 04/04/2005
I dunno but I have yet to see a mother in WalMart properly beat their children.
californiadrea ming 02/08/2005
Hey I fricking love Wal-Mart! It's the best place to people-watch, and you have to admit, the prices are really great. I feel really rich and sane when I go there.
louiethe20th 01/14/2005
Because Wal-Mart has so much cool junk that kids bug the crap outta ya tryin' to get ya's to buy it for em'.
Skizero 01/11/2005
because kids wait until they are in public to act like little brats.

Because Jerry Springer is holding auditions in Aisle 7.
Solenoid DH 01/10/2005
Probably because their local K-Mart went out of business.
Mad Hatter 01/10/2005
Because the people who shop at Wal-Mart see it as there second home because they spend so much time there.

Well, if you had just found out that the 2-for-1 Kraft's Macaroni & Cheese sale ended yesterday, what else would be within arm's reach to whack?
abichara 03/24/2004
Probably because shopping at Wal-Mart is a very boring activity for kids, especially when they want a toy that mom doesn't let them buy. The kid gets tired, starts whining and mom beats him/her. Ironic that the happy face is their official mascot, but yet for lots of kids it's an angry red face.
Enkidu 12/14/2003
It's the karma of being surrounded by things which were made by slaves--slaves who have experienced innumerable beatings for not working fast enough, or who dared to ask for a few pennies a day with which to feed their own children.
LadyShark4534 12/14/2003
Seriously, What type of people do this? How stupid can these people be? That's just asking to be arrested. And why do they beat their kids? Because their kids ask a simple question. These dumb parents smacking the kids need serious help!
tvtator 12/05/2003
The store is so big and the associates don't pay attention to you that no one would notice a mother beating their children.
scarletfeather 11/27/2003
It's all part of an initiation rite into a redneck secret society.
mikeholly93 11/27/2003
Because kids act up and misbehave in wal-Mart stores.
CanadaSucks 11/20/2003
I laughed out loud at this one. I have been to WALMART a few times but have always ran away with the feeling that I have witnessed a future serial-killer getting beat by a fat hick mom. . .
killer54 11/15/2003
Because at Walmart they like to do merchandise everything!
CastleBee 11/12/2003
Perhaps they believe the rumor that Jerry Springer places scouts for his TV show in Wal-Mart stores.
twinmom101 11/12/2003
I know this is meant to be humorous but at the same time this is a serious thing. When you see a parent wailing on their kids in any public place it is one of two things- either they beat the kids regularly as that is the only form of discipline they know of or you are encountering a very stressed out parent who is close to a major breakdown. I can relate to that. There have been times when my husband has been out of town and I have had to put my daughters in their cribs and just go sit out on the deck and cry because I've been so overwhelmed with all the work and stress. Being a parent is grueling, thankless work and it's no wonder some people snap. Still, I'd have to be near clinical insanity or possessed before I'd start beating my kids in public. Embarassing for everyone involved.
kamylienne 11/11/2003
That smiley face made them do it.

This ticks me off to no end. I've worked at a retail store before, and you don't know how I've silently fumed as mothers mistreat their children. And, the reasons? Talking? Children need to talk to learn their verbal skills. When parents tell their kids to 'shut up' for asking an honest question, I want to show them the door. I mean, come on, kids are curious! Don't stifle their curiosity, encourage it! Talking about something that isn't real? Don't even get me started! I've witness this as well, and its infurirating. Kids deserve to have a rich and full imagination and creative mind, and most adults I know could use a dose of unreality too! Crying over a candy bar? Negotiate with your child. POSITIVE REWARDS! Give him/her a candy bar if he/she acts good a certain amount of time. This is not to even mention the fact that I am against spanking as a punishment anyway! Ok...maybe this is a vent...but, by golly, its a meaningful one!
kolby1973 11/11/2003
I don't know why people do this, but it usually irritates the hell out of me, as I hate seeing children get hit period. I know it is very necessary sometimes, I just don't like seeing it myself...

Here at Wal-mart prices are so good, It'll make you jump for joy and smack your baby boy. Yeehaw.
irishgit 11/11/2003
Substitute the name of any other big box retailer. Seems like every time you turn around some little kids getting a smack upside the head.
