When I first saw this I did not pay attention early on which left me guessing who the killer was all through the movie. I was surprised and enjoyed the movie because of it. Having seen it a few times since then it is obvious it was not a particularly well made or acted movie. Better than quite a few on this list and my view is this belongs right about where it is. Even ratings of 2 are understandable. I can't see this earning 4 or 5s though. Having seen it again I realize that not paying attention to the opening scene is why I enjoyed it so much the first time. Now it just comes across as more of a murder mystery that you already know who the killer is.

Too bad Prom Night wasn't scary, because Jamie Lee Curtis delivers a fine performance. Prom Night is not your usual slasher flick. It starts out as a suspenseful drama before becoming a horror flick in the end, which is a nice change. Unfortunely, the film ends up being a slow and boring outing with little T&A. The ending is a bit overblown also. Curtis delivers a great performances, and she saves the film from a *.

This is one of the few times in movie history when a sequel is better than the original. "Prom Night 2: Hellow Mari Lou" was actually better than this one.

Like Terror Train, Prom Night banked in on Jamie Lee Curtis the star of the ever so succesful Halloween which is far better than the micro horror of Prom Night. Prom Night is a great laugh however and provides some cool moments and a believable story that is down to earth and holds no supernatural "blackest eyes, the devils eyes" sort of stuff. Fun and entertaining, a peice of crap horror history. Learn from this film and realize star power is nothing without a good script. Full of red herrings that keep you guessing (if you're a numb skull) as well as Leslie Neilson as Jamie Lee Curtis's father/principal (if i remember correctly)Worth seeing to see. Not as bad as Terror train. Or the rest of the Halloween series for that matter. Five times better than I Know What You Did Last Summer. It even has T and A!!! Stays very true to the horror movie rules. And we all know what those are.
