    Went there with a business group for a weekend, got there at 3:15pm, line was at least 150 people deep, was told because of there union they could not check anyone in till 3:00 even if there room was ready, business payed for everything, room, valet parking, tickets to Rockettes, Ice, Hall of trees, etc. At check in I was told I would need to pay for valet parking, I told them it was already taken care of, was told there records did not show that and I would need to pay for valet parking, luckily I was checking in at the same time as the bookkeeper for the business. So I just went to were he was, he was having the same problem but, he had the receipt were he had already paid for valet parking, after about 30 minutes got that fixed. Then Wow what a long way to the room with very poor signage and narrow pathways, got to the room toilet was dirty.     I've lived in Nashville my whole life and I have to say a lot of things have gone downhill...That being said Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center is one of them. For starters everything is over priced. The staff isn't that friendly. And honestly the Delta Boats are not worth what you pay for them, infact they have raised the price so many times I don't even know what it is any more. Last time I was there it was $9 and honestly for a 15 minute tour that never really lasts 15 minutes it's not worth it. I've seen that line back up so many time with huge families wanting to ride it at Christmas...My advice take that 9 bucks per person and buy another present. By the way don't get me started on OpryMills (not what we were told it was going to be, we were told a Mall of America style Mall...We lost our themepark and we got a shopping mall that isn't even as good as the malls we already had)

    I personally have never stayed the night, BUT, I have shopped, ate, watched, heard, walked and walked and w -a -l -k -e -d and visited Opry Land many, many times. To start, I rated this hotel as a 3 star for many reasons. It has friendly, accomodating staff, MANY shops and eaterys, absolutely gorgeous plants, waterfalls, foliage and decor. From the carpet & trim to the skylight and everything in between!!! Within walking distance, there is a lot of entertainment, a very nice mall, live music and events and so much to see & do. That being said, they only get 3 stars because you must have deep pockets to fully enjoy the emenities that await you. Guests must pay to park, the rooms are very average for the price, the fast food & restaurants are expensive, shops are too, and you are one in a million versus any feelings of personalized service.     The Jack Daniels Bar had a great live band on and the staff were very friendly unlike some bars back in the U.K. I also liked the Irish bar with British beers and satellite or cable sports tv.The Garden Conservatory was magnificent especially the restaurant.

    The staff was courteous and helpful, the atrium was beautiful, the room was neat, and the food was great! I absolutely loved staying at this hotel! It was slightly expensive, but definitely worth it.

    My wife and I were looking for gifts for our wedding party before we got married. We decided to look at a massage package from Relache at Gaylord Opryland. Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted with smiles and friendly help. A young man took time out of his busy schedule to guide us to the spa and did not just turn us loose once we arrived. He actually waited with us until someone could meet with us to show us around. The General Manager of Relache ended up being the person to show us around. We had never been in a spa before so he took the time to explain what each service is and show all the treatment rooms ( which were amazing!). After the tour he asked us if we had any spare time, luckily we did! He proceeded to ask if we would be interested in a complimentary massage... YES!!! I have to say that I've never felt better in my entire life. He didn't have to do this, he just wanted to give us an incredible experience and I must say that he certainly did! This place is amazing!

    Upon checking in, I gave the hotel my credit card. When I ordered room services, I was told my cc is not on file. What? How can I check in without a credit card? I went to the front desk with my CC. The were 2 clerks at the front desk; the Concierge 20 years away. The clerks where helping people with restaurant reservations, I was next in line. I waited 20 minutes, how do I know that? Because I was watching that stupid CAbi commercial 10 times! Yes, I counted. When I finally got to a clerk, I asked her what time the Concierge closes, she said 8PM. I asked why did you not send people over to her? She stated that if a customer comes and asks them something, ie) Dinner Reservations, she has to help them. What took so long was the drunken slobs could not agree on a restaurant. I asked why would you not send them over to the Concierge? What I got was if they are asked something, they answer. When finished, I asked to see the manager.     Me and my husband were very excited to stay at this hotel during our visit to Nashville. It had come very reccomended from friends living in the area. Walking into the hotel was admittadly very impressive. The atrium and ponds are impressive. Then got to our room. . . . When we arrived to our first room, I first noticed that it smelled like smoke - we requested a non-smoking room, but were given a smoking room. Just great. So I call the front desk, and they offered to send up a maid to "deodorize" the room. The maid came up after 20 minutes and sprayed some glade, which didn't really solve the problem. It only made the room smell like potpourri and smoke. I called the front desk again, and after some time they agree to send us to a non-smoking room that they found that had "just opened up".     My elderly mother insisted on staying at the "famous" Opryland Hotel when she recently visited me. I knew about the resort's beautiful gardens and Christmas light displays, which are both quite remarkable. I assumed the hotel would be just as lovely. I was wrong. It's huge, and there are some nice architectural features throughout. But just wait until you check into your $200 or $300 room! Reserve a non-smoking room with a king bed, and you might get a smoking room with a small bed. Common practice, we were told. Standard practice with most hotels nowadays, we were assured. Great. Maybe Opryland can drop their prices to to the more "common" and "standard" $99 rate offered by "most" hotels. Or maybe they can just clean their rooms before guests arrive. After pleading for a non-smoking room for my elderly mother, the clerk relented and we were given a smaller room. Guess what?     My wife and I look forward to coming back year after year. We've been lost inside also but what better place to be "lost" Never once ran into anyone that was not friendly or more than willing to help. Delta Lounge and Jack Daniels Lounge are very good. We'll be back in July, 277 days left to wait!!!!!!!!

    I have lived in nashville for 14 years and the first (and only) time i stayed at the Opryland Hotel it was my Honeymoon night and i have to say it was a horrible experience! We arrived around 2 am and when we got to our room we realized that our "suite" did not have a bed in it. We called down to the front desk and they kindly informed us that the bed pulls down from the wall. The so called murphy bed was a piece of plywood with a 2 inch thick mattress on it. Not only was the bed crappy but there werent even sheets on the mattress! We once again called the front desk and they sent up a maid that basically asked us to look and see if there were sheets in the closet so we could make our own bed! Remember, its our honeymoon night- i'm still in my wedding gown and they want me to make the bed that i payed 410 dollars to sleep in!!     WELL THE TRADITIONAL ROOMS/ ATRIUM VIEW ARE NOT WORTH THE PRICE, I RECOMEND STAYING AT THE HOTEL PRESTON 5 MINS AWAY AND DRIVE TOUR THE GARDENS.I JJUST THINK THAT FOR $250.00 YOU SHOULD GET A NICE ROOM WITH NICE BEDDING AND IT WASNT. IT WAS JUST LIKE WHAT YOU WOULD SEE AT A 'COUNTRY INN' WERE YOU PAY ALOT LESS. I WILL SAY THAT THE GARDENS ARE MAGNIFISANT, TRULY!!!!! MAKE SURE YOU WARE WALKING SHOES!!!     Well, my husband and I have visited Opryland Hotel for the past 3 years for our anniversary and we love it. We always get an awsome room, never have to pay to park and the service is very good. On one of our trips we took our 2 year old son who just happened to drop his shoe off of one of the bridges into the waterfall...(was kinda funny) and we told an employee who got the garden people geared up in waders to search for the shoe. Pure entertainment! Also, we love the mall and the aquarium is superb (food and surroundings). So there is plenty to do and as always - it can be a fun as you want it to be. Enjoy Nashville!

    I can only rave about this place! The rooms were immaculate, the linens were nice, and the beds were comfortable! The property was astonishing, there was so much to see and do on or near the facility, I especially enjoyed walking in the garden. There are several restaurants on and near the property to choose from. Nashville and the surrounding area offer a variety of historical places, arts, and interesting museums not to mention shopping. There was so much to see and do, and not enough time to get it done! We just had way too much fun our last trip to Nashville and plan to return soon! Will we stay at this property again, that would be an emphatic, yes!

    Come prepared because there is more to do than you expect, but this place is fabulous. The new spa is a real treat and the recently added indoor pool and fitness center are amazing. We stayed in a newly renovated room...this is not the Opryland that I remembered. Classy, and fun! With some great restaurants on site, we never had to leave.

    The rooms were beautiful, the food was delicious and the service was wonderful! It is rather large so i did get lost a few times but everyone was extremely helpful, especially the shoe shine man! If you get lost ask him he knows everything!

    Just wanted to make sure everyone who is reading these reviews realize that most of these were written 2 years ago or longer. Take it from someone who knows, there have been a lot of changes in this place in the past couple of years...those of you who had such bad experiences should really give it another shot. Hotel rooms have been renovated, service levels are excellent, SPA and indoor pool have been added to increase "resort" feeling, and overall Value has certainly increased. Food in ALL Restaurants is wonderful. Definitely high priced, but worth every penny.

    I enjoyed the trip to Opryland Hotel. It was a magical time, with all the wonderful lights, the great hotel and service, not to mention the wonderful food. I loved it. I brought my entire family, it was great.

    In November it will be my third time staying at the hotel this year. I have gone almost every year for 15 years. It is one of my favorite places in the world! Make sure to get a room with a balcony in the cascades section, its well worth the money. Breakfast buffet at Rachel's is the best. Make sure to catch the shuttle to the Opry Mills mall and eat at the Aquarium Resturant. If your in Nashville, at least try to visit Opryland, you can spend an entire day at the hotel ! Its a place like no other ! And to respond to the negative ratings: You cant arrive after 8:00p.m. at any hotel and think your room is guranteed! You can park at the Opry Mills Mall for FREE and ride the FREE shuttle to the hotel. Just know how the system works! Opryland is great.

    I stayed here on my wedding night and it was awful. The "valet" parking was anything but. I had to go find the guy to get him to park my car. My wife and I also got lost looking for our room. I asked for help, but of course nobody speaks English. I wouldn't recommend this place to a hobo, let alone anyone else.

    I've been reading reviews on the sight, and knowing quite a bit about this particular venu, theres something that needs to be brought to peoples attention. When you make a reservation you are told MULTIPLE times that although you REQUEST a specific bed type or location (say King or Two Doubles Smoking/Non-Smoking) it is a REQUEST. I understand that its difficult for people to understand this concept, but don't be suprised when you are not able to get the bed type you want when you roll in at 12:30 at night. Its a request only, and no, it doesn't matter how far in advance you make your reservation. This seems to be a common complaint, but if people listened when they made their reservation, they should know ahead of time! Why are they suprised?

    We stayed here for our wedding night. It was a nightmare. The parking is not laid out friendly, there was nobody to help tell us where we needed to park and we ended up walking a 1/2 mile to get to the hotel. Then we get inside, and there is nobody there to help get you to your room. It took us 2 hours to get to the room. Then we got to the room - we paid for a view of the Atrium and got a view of the parking lot (which we had already seen alot of). After leaving the next day, I realized I had left my tierra there. When I called about it, there wasn't anybody helpful and they never found it. We have already decided to stay elsewhere for our anniversary. I would never stay here again unless it had new management.

    Save your money and eat somewhere else outside of the hotel. Go to the Opry Mills mall and eat someplace in there...although I can't recommend anything in there EITHER. The atrium is beautiful and you can get a nice walk getting lost throughout the vast "resort" complex. Christmas time is the only time I visit the hotel, because it's decorated so beautifully and very festive, albeit VERY crowded. A cocktail can cost anywhere from 8.00 and up. Coffee is around 5.00 a cup. If that's ok with you, have at it.

    This is a beautiful hotel. I can't believe the variety of responses to this hotel. We were there in June 2003. We didn't have a much of a problem. The rooms are way too much, as is the cost of the food. We had no view from our room and costs us the same as two nights somewhere else.I'm surprised about the parking, if you have a room there - you get a voucher for free parking! I'm surprised many didn't know that! Management needs to get involved. As well as this TN law of not reserving rooms! If you just visit- you can park at the opry mills or across the street and walk over. It really is something to see.

    Service is AWFUL! Tiny basic room; wait 1 hour to check in; receive no assistance with luggage; no wheelchairs ("didn't have any"); $10 parking; overpriced restaurants with theme park quality food; Reservations have no meaning here - We had one for Christmas weekend 8 months advance guaranteed with credit card! No room when we arrived! Why? TN law allows them to let departing guests stay over past their reservation so that YOU have no room when you arrive! This is a theme park masquerading as a hotel! Stay at the Marriott Courtyard across the street and walk to hotel OR have Courtyard shuttle drive you across the street for FREE! That's what I do when I need to stay in this area.

    Please remember they are going to charge you 10 bucks to park no matter if you are a guest or a visitor. Decidedly NOT a free attraction. Parking is plentiful, not at a premium as it would be in a city center. It is outragious that they use parking as a profit center.

    I don't understand how this came in #1 on the list of Nashville's Best Free Attractions. It costs $5 just to park your car. That said, I have ponied up my $5 to take out-of-town guests in for a looksee.

    While the sights in and out of the hotel are incredible, the rooms are way overpriced. The people were nice, but not overly helpful. For $259.00 I was expecting considerably more. The beds were less comfortable than the ones I slept on at summer camp as a kid. I have stayed in nicer Motel 6's. Luckily, I stayed there on someone else's dime. I would have been sick if I had paid.

    careful, even though we 'reserved" a room 3 months in advance, when we got there at 11pm with two little children, there was no room at the inn. They told us they did NOT HAVE to honor our reservation.---TN Law they said. ( 2 days later we were able to get our room) Beautiful Hotel/still worth the experience

    Paid for 2 nights stay for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. No one assisted with luggage. My dad was given a luggage cart so he could be his own bellhop. He asked for a wheelchair for my mom who has a hard time walking long distances. The "courtesy desk" gave him a phone extension to call. He called the # and it was disconnected. Went back and they found and dialed a different # then handed my dad the phone. The person answering said he'd bring one to them, but an hour later, still no wheelchair. They finally got to their room 2.5 hours later when another guest gave them GOOD directions to their room. This was very disappointing that my 74 year old father had to to go through this ordeal with his 65 year old disabled wife. Cheap looking/feeling room for the price.

    Ive stayed at the Opryland hotel on Thanksgiving Weekend on two different occasions. The place was beautiful, the rooms were nice and clean and there wasnt a bunch noise when I was trying to sleep.

    Of course i've never stayed there but i've heard that its very good but.... Just for the overall, Everytime i've been there its been great.. I usally go before christmas when they decorate but anytime this place is beautiful... Huge jungle like garden, Classy feel... And the best thing was the Piano player, he was very nice and an excelent player.. Very nice

    This is just about the tackiest thing I've ever seen, but it's impossible not to be amazed by the spectacle, with waterfalls, boat rides and revolving bars all inside this garish uber-structure. Tip for people just coming to gawk: Park at Shopry Mills for free and walk to the hotel. It's even more of a spectacle in the later evening and in December.

    Service? Is that why I waited in line in my car for 25 minutes just to get out at the lobby and have to carry my own bags in? Not to mention the 45 minute wait at the registration only to find my two rooms I had reserved MONTHS earlier weren't what I requested NOR were they anywhere in the vicinity of each other. This is a beautiful place, but all I found myself doing the entire stay was getting in line for something and paying out big bucks for everything there!

    The common areas are gorgeous; however the rooms are reminiscent of a bad 70's Holiday Inn - definitely NOT worth the price. Also, although my room had been paid in full prior to arrival, the desk clerk obtained authorizations on my VISA check card which have tied up over $900 from my bank account. When I called to have the problem resolved, I got a recording which has promised a call back within 2 business days. Only way I'll stay here again is if they offer it to me for free.

    I have never had a worse experience than at Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville. Two years in a row they gave away our room even though we had reservations and paid in advance. The staff was incompetent and unconcerned with our dilema. I will never give any Gaylord enternatinment company my business again.

    This is a great place to explore with your partner. It has so many differnt things to choose from for dining, activities or just people watching. The Cascade area is very romantic as well as refreshing. The Delta area has a great southern feel, Walking through the Conservatory is almost like having your own Victorian garden.

    Gaylord opryland hotell is very amazing. The service, quality, and rooms are absolutely amazing! Out of 2,881 rooms, they are still able to keep everthing running perfectly, and the gardens and the overall appearance of the hotel are absolutely fabulous!

    I just went there with my parents for a convention. The service was very good, the food at the restaurants was just ok. The room was kind of stuffy and gave me bad allergies and the tv was not working properly. Other than that the hotel is really nice, I would rather just visit the hotel and stay somewhere else. You can get very easily lost and there is no one there to assist you.

    I recently attended a conference at the Gaylord REsort and the staff, setup and convenence of all seminars was incredible. They were very observant toward reassuring the guest that everything went smoothly.
