"Crocodile Rock" is a throwback tune, harping back to the sounds of the 1950's with a touch of early 70's glam. One can easily imagine Bill Haley & His Comets belting out this song. The problem is that despite being one of Elton John's most recognizable singles, it has been overplayed and is now one of my least favorite tracks when compared to the others on this list. For those too busy crying by the record machine, "Crocodile Rock" charted in the U.S. for 14 weeks in 1972-73 (peaking at #1 for 3 of those weeks), and has been covered by the Beach Boys, the Baha Men, and the Farmers.
