Winter has a lot of negatives here in the Northeast - cold, snowy, icy, gets dark too early in the day, heating costs go up, etc. However, there are a couple of positives - no bugs, no lawn and yard maintenance, and when you get a really good snowfall, it's a great time just to stay in bed most of the day and totally relax.

a good time to snuggle up close to that someone special and watch a movie as the snow flies outside

Just total misery if you are in the upper Midwest. I am actually from the the West Coast and spending my college years in Wisconsin. Oh gosh, I had to learn the hard way on how to live in extreme cold! Can you believe how dangerously cold it was last winter? (-25*F one time) It really cost me one body part- an ear. Never bend any part that has pure cartilage in such weather. I'll be glad to return to my hometown when I graduate.

I agree with tvtator. I live in the desert, where it rarely gets below 30, but it's still too damn cold for me. You can easily cool off in summer by jumping in the pool, but in winter, even standing next to a fire, you are still cold. Heck, if the temp drops below 80, i gotta drag out the sweaters and coats!!

Snow, ice, misery, no matter how much you put on you are still cold. Going out to your car and having to scrape the ice or dew off. Starting the car to warm it up, but falling flat on your tail bone. Winter is not a pleasant time. It's own pleasant indoors in front of the fireplace while drinking hot chocolate.
