I think Marie Callender's is great. It has great tasting meals, and the meals are usually not dry like Lean Cuisine can be. Between this and Stouffer's these are actually both very good tV dinners, although I lean a little more towards Marie Callender's. The pot pies are good!

MC's Creamy Mushroom Chicken Pot Pie was by far my most disappointing food purchase of 2008. The chicken was tasteless and full of fat and gristle. I wrote to ConAgra Foods to let them know how gross their product was, and get this...they sent me two coupons good for FREE Marie Callender's Frozen Product! Wow! If the first one I tried was so horrible, why would I try another??? I have another type of pot pie in the freezer that I am afraid to eat!!! To ConAgra Consumer Affairs: Thanks, but no thanks!

I really like Marie Callenders food. I really liked the chicken and dumplings but I think they stopped making them which is a horrible shame. They were so healthy and great tasting I used to eat one everyday. The dumplings were perfect. Does anyone remember those or am I thinking of a different brand?
ghurney2000 07/26/2008
Meals are good but why, why, why, can't you use real potatoes. I end up eating the rest of the meal and throwing out the potatoes. Even banquet uses real potatoes and they are the cheapest frozen dinners around. Yours are the most expensive and would be well worth the price if you would just use real potatoes.
joy1963 05/28/2008
The sweet and sour chicken was NASTY threw it out after 2 bites.
Viki51 05/16/2008
The people that rate these dinners poorly could not possibly be eating Marie Calendar's. These are the best frozen dinners around, hands down. And the calorie count is much less than others. My favorites are the turkey and chicken. I have been dieting and these dinners make it enjoyable. They are very flavorful.
dagirl 04/02/2008
What is going on? These were my favorite frozen dinners now they are on the same playing field with Banquet. I'm going back to Stoffers.

I think these meals are the best available out there --- especially when you factor in price [on sale] and taste! They are very good and the meals give you a decent amount of food. They have a variety of really good ones, there has not really been one that I have not liked. My favorite is the Grilled Chicken Alfredo Bake. The rice ones aren't my favorite, but I"m a rice eater and it just isn't the same for me. Also, the mashed potatoes are so good! Buy these!!!
LuckyLucy 01/01/2008
CrockPot bags are generally good - most times I add a little of my own stuff to it.

The Turkey Breast with Stuffing is outstanding in all reguards and the stuffing has the best taste, favor, and true to home made as possible.

Marie Callender's ,adn whoever helps her with her food, should be ashamded of themselves, nearly every meal I have bought so far, which would equal up to about 9 or 10 meals, has been only fairly decent, with the catch being that they are so F'in cheap they have no soul, they will market 2 chicken tenderloins, and gie you a half of one, Marie, give me some sucky sucky with your meals or get the F out of the business, peopel sue these meals to provide for their families, and here you are taking food out of their stomachs to make an extra dolar or two.
BabetteSands 09/16/2007
The Marie Callenders frozen meals that I have tried so far are very good and very filling. I love their broccoli, imagine that one! My favorites are the stuffed pasta medley, the southern fried chicken tenderloins, grilled chicken with mash potatoes, and the peach cobbler..Plan to work my way thru the whole lineup. Some items are hard to find like the chicken and dumplings..Still looking for that one. Super Walmart prices for the frozen dinners are less than three bucks, really how could you go wrong.
bman313 08/18/2007
I used to love Marie Callenders until their broccoli fetish- nice way to shorten the consumer! Anyway, I dont mind their saturated fat content, though high, I love to know im eating real food without chemicals. But after cheapening their meals with mass amounts of broccoli, as if trying to pawn them off as healthy, is an unfortunate campaign tactic.
alawson2 08/02/2007
I always buy Marie Callender's Spaghetti w/ Garlic Bread for an inexpensive healthy fast meal. Today I grabbed one and got it home only to find they cut the spaghetti amount in half and substituted broccoli of all things. I guess they want to go cheaper, but spaghetti and broccoli?? I'll be getting something else next time.
Aulpa 07/29/2007
NO THANKS to Marie Callenders NEW Swedish meat balls with green beans. Forget the beans. You've ruined my easy dinner prep. A money saver for sure. Green beans are cheaper than meat. P. Tray
cementheadxl 07/02/2007
i'm a little pissed of today cause i love marie callender's stuffed pasta. the one with shells, ravoli, and roll with ricotta cheese. but NOW they cut the stuffed pasta in half and the other half is now broccoli! yes, broccoli! who in the hell likes broccoli. only girls and i'm pretty sure they can cook. i hope to god (lol) they read this and change it back. oh and how about that rice, chicken and cheese meal?! yeah they added broccoli to that too!
Molfan 05/07/2007
there are some pretty good Marie Callender meals. I like the chicken meal with mashed potatoes. and the spaghetti meal with garlic toast. the fettucinni is nice too. the marie Callendar company puts together many different meals. the lasagna is a pretty generous serving. I eat these on occasion and cannot complain.
Gloomyeeyore 05/07/2007
Marie Callender's has some good dinners I have tried a few of them. I like the Chicken alfredo, fettucini alfredo with garlic bread, and the chicken parmesan. These are good for frozen dinners.
Busterbrown 05/06/2007
I came home from work and grabbed a Marie Callender's fish, rice and broccolli dinner out of the freezer, went to peel the plastic film back from the fish and it shattered and ripped into hundreds of tiny pieces! Plastic film pieces were all over the fish and rice. I tried to blow them off but could still see little pieces of plastic in my food. I cooked and ate it anyway because they are expensive dinners and I was too tired and hungry to mess with anything else. The rice was hard and dry while the fish was soggy and the broccolli was mostly woody stems. It tasted ok but I was still hungry and had to warm up some corned beef hash and fry an egg for dessert.
Pat1930 03/28/2007
I love all of the frozen TV dinners but why do they use only cut-string-beans in their dinners. - it would be nice if other vegetables are used once in a while
Randyman 03/09/2007
I have only had their pot pies and they are very good, especially the chicken pot pie.
sinfidel 02/07/2007
i've tried SEVERAL "flavors" of the marie callender dinners including the turkey, baked chicken, chicken alfredo, and meatloaf and they are alwyas yummy and make me feel like i am eating a REAL meal, not a tv dinner. thanks marie! =)
Lori66 01/04/2007
Did they every reply to you? I will never buy their products in the future. Yuk....
Kelkc 11/03/2006
Ugh. Other than the pot pies, which are delicious but really high in fat, calories, and other bad stuff, these are awful. The fried chicken/mashed potato meal was inedible. The chicken was gummy, the potatoes were tastesless and watery, and they are expensive! Stick with Lean Cuisines.
dyingmuse 08/21/2006
Marie has great frozen dinners. In fact I think they are the best! The chicken alfredo bake is awesome, along with the sweet and sour chicken, and the parmesian. Kudos!

Many years ago, I tried MC because their marketing campaign made it seem like the high-end product in frozen food. I was sorely disappointed at the money I spent thinking I was going to have a "restaurant" quality meal. Two weeks ago, MC was on a good sale, and I thought "maybe they've changed". So I bought several. THEY WERE LOUSY! Today, I FINALLY finished the last one (for lunch at work), throwing most of it away (the meat was like plywood so I really only got to eat mashed potatoes and vegetables) and got home as fast as I could for dinner because I was starving! Every one of them was truly a disappointment and I will never EVER buy MC again. (At least I'm sure now!) DT

I enjoy Marie Callendar's frozen dinners because it taste like Grandma's Kitchen, well, my kitchen. When I have it for lunch, all I need when i get home is a salad. I only wish there were more choice, and a side salad with the sphagetti instead of the bread. No other frozen dinners can compete.
lovegreatfood 01/21/2006
Just ate a Marie Callender's Honey Roasted Chicken Pot Pie, and WOW! Excellent!!! Tasty, flaky, but firm crust, juicy grilled honey roasted breast chicken pieces, tender green beans, savory hint of honey gravy, succulent corn, sweet carrot slices, delectable onions, and satisfying potatoes. Absolutely the BEST frozen pot pies you can find! Banquet is junk by contrast, and uses crap meat pieces and dark meat chicken. The only thing that tastes good in a Banquet pie is the gravy. You'll find nothing but premium ingredients in the Marie Callender's Pot Pies! Pricey, but worth it.
arellano 01/21/2006
I have been a purchase of Marie Callender's frozen dinners, since they have been at the various retail grocery stores, I haven't been able to buy my favorite (Fish Filets with macaroni and cheese) at either Safeway or Albertsons. They no longer have this Filet of Fish order on their shelves. Safeway does have it if you request a delivery to your home. Why is this selection being ignored on the shelve's of these two marketers? al Arellano Sunnyvale, Ca.

My birthday was the other day and instead of a cake, I wanted to try something like a pie. I always like the home to smell of baked goods so I purchased the Marie Callender's Dutch Apple pie. It was the best and most appetizing desert I have ever tasted. The flavor just stayed with you. Even with a scoop of your favorite ice cream on top didn't distract from the rich taste. I have tried other frozen brands and the crust was hard and flavorless. Marie's on the other hand was moist with a generous supply of fruit. The holidays are just around the corner and I am making room in my freezer for her assortments.

Being a newly diagnosed diabetic, I religiously pore over the nutritional content, especially the carbohydrate number. I am a Marie Callender's frozen food fan but was outraged to realize that after eating a whole frozen chicken potpie that I had eaten TWICE my normal allowance for carbohydrates per meal. I wondered why my blood sugar shot up after eating that potpie. After doublechecking the nutritional label, the potpie is considered TWO SERVINGS!! How deceitful this is and how dangerous for people on restricted diets. Shame on Marie Callender's for not being honest.
memoore 09/01/2005
I have tried several of the Marie Callender's dinner and I have not found one that I did not enjoy. This is the best frozen food I have ever eaten!!!!!!!!!!!!! It taste just like mine and I must admit sometimes even better. Thanks for the good lunches
Marge7238 07/15/2005
Marie Callender's Meat Lasagna tastes so much like a homemade lasagna, that I will not take the time any more to make my own. One 21 oz. container is all that my husband & I can eat along with a salad and a little garlic bread. Also, The breaded chicken alfredo with 3 kinds of cheese is an excellent meal for one person, especially one that lives alone. I will continue trying more of these dinners. Keep these delicious dinners coming, so I can keep getting praised for making such good dinners.
ChrisB 07/08/2005
My husband and I found these frozen dinners about two weeks ago and that's about all we want to eat anymore. The turkey and gravy with mashed potatoes and green beans with cranberries is a special favorite. The chicken alfredo is also great, as is the pork chop with mashed potates, gravy and mixed veggies. Have tried a couple of others but can't remember the names and it would be too long to keep describing. All of them have been excellent! I was surprised that a frozen dinner could be so good and was very happy to make this wonderful discovery.

Above average for frozen food fare, I pick up a couple when they are on sale on occasion
sweetg 05/03/2005
Overpriced, to start. If you are doing one of the meals in a microwave, you usually have to take some part out and put it in a regular/toaster oven. So, not very convenient. And even when you've followed all the directions and waited, they aren't all that tasty. For all of that, you've probably consumed a huge amount of calories and fat. SO not worth it.

While bragging to my guests how good the turkey breast with stuffing was, as I served it to my six guests, the first person to take a bite showed everyone on his fork with his turkey was a huge clump of hair with assorted green crap clinging to the hair. You will never know how much business you will never have after this endorsement!!! I am so embarrassed, everyone threw their entree in the garbage and said they would never accept a dinner invite at my house again. They have all left and your phone line is closed and I am in tears. I saved the green hair clump and will send it to whoever wants to check it out. Please respond to this mail ASAP. I have the boxes it came in, there are three. I'm not sure which box the green clump of hair was in, so I will keep all three boxes for you to check. I'm so upset. I thought I could impress them with your product and everyone was grossed out and left. My e-mail is [email protected] and I hope to have a response by 2/25/5. I will call the 800 number in the morning and hope someone will answer. I am devestated and so upset. Maribeth Gleeson, 2201 Vineyard Rd, Novato, Ca 94947

Marie Callender's is a tired old chain that has never caught up with todays trends. I only eat at the one in Rancho Mirage for brunch, it's tired, it smells and I'm sure just barely passes by the Health Department.

The best of the bunch (which isn't saying much). Their pot pies in particular are good, especially the crust.
StlCrusaderX 11/09/2004
These dinners have saved my life. Well atleast made me very happy and healthy. Every one I have had is perfect. They do not taste like a frozen dinner. They really do taste like homemade. Also great price and I have a small microwave and they fit perfect. As they used to say on tv in the 70's Try it you will like it!.
Millenium Wk'g Mom 10/26/2004
The Marie Callender lasagna was bad. I bought one for an office gathering and another for home @ $13 each. They were runny with excessive water. I tried to drain it, but my God!-At least 40% of the package weight of this product was water based! It was not tasty AT ALL! I would NOT recommend.
Ada 10/23/2004
I tried the Turkey Breast with stuffing, mash potatoes, and cranberries, disappointed. Had 3 skins of the cranberries. Won't buy it again.
danipazdan 10/18/2004
Oh my Gosh Marie Callender's Turkey stuffing mashed potatos and greenbeans dinner is fabulous. I am 4 months pregnant and not much appeals to me lately but I have to have this dinner every week and I must not be the only one because last time I went to the store I had to search through to the back to find the very last one. I have driven across town to additional grocery stores just to get them. The greenbeans dont even taste like they have been frozen. I totally agree with gokeet.
jazzybee 09/12/2004
My favorites are the chicken fried steak with the gravy, mashed potatoes, and honey glazed carrots. Also the chicken alfredo with broccoli. These meals are under 3.50 and sometimes you can get them cheaper at Kroger or King Sooper's. They are the next thing to being homemade in the line of frozen dinners.
JACQUELINEB 07/20/2004
My husband and I have purchased the peach pies and cherry cobblers more than twice. They are wonderful, thank you Marie for the wonderful desserts.. I have tried the meals to like the turkey breast with stuffing and I really enjoyed it..
gokeet 07/05/2004
I have purchased the Marie Callender's Turkey Breast with Stuffing dinner twice so far. Each time I found it to be absolutely fantastic. I am single and I don't like to cook big meals for myself. These dinners are perfect. I just add a fruit of some kind to the menu and it is a extremely satisfying and nourshing meal...Thank you Marie for the wonderful alternative to a huge meal preparation.
mlunga 06/26/2004
The Cheesy Chicken Pot Pie was the worst! I can't get the taste of the awful cheese out of my mouth.
nemequittepas 04/22/2004
These meals are terrific. They provide choices others don't and they taste like home cooking. I just finished the honey roasted chicken and it was finger licking good. The price I think is reasonable also especially when compared with McDonalds junk. And convenient- you cannot beat them. You can stock up and when you don't feel like cooking or stopping for take out you can go straight home kick off your shoes and throw one in the microwave. Bone appetite!
Carla106 04/15/2004
i like this kind of frozen dinner. it really does taste homemade, and it cooks pretty well in the microwave. what i dont like is the chicken fried steak meal because the corn is on a cob which is annoying because then you have to pick up the hot, wet, corncob just to eat it. and if you cut then it just slides around. the chicken alfredo is very good though.
