We had an awful experience with this property management group. Despite having multiple years of rental history and meeting the income qualifications for every other rental management service we've ever worked with, this company treated us like we'd never rented before and wouldn't ever hope to qualify. They seriously treated us like dirt. Cari had an awful attitude and was very unprofessional. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a more reasonably-priced, better experience. Side note: our experience with Capital Property Management has been outstanding and I'd look there first. That's how renters and potential renters should be treated.

I rented from Piersons from 2007-2008 in a lovely (but drafty) duplex on 30th place. When I moved in in early 2007, I asked the lady abo...

I'm suprised to read the comment below, We've rented from them for the last year and a half, and have had nothing but good experiences with the staff, especially Cari. She is usually the person who answers the phones, and the first one we see when we go to pay our rent. She's always been very friendly and helpful. We even referred some friends to them, and they ended up renting a property through Pierson as well, and are happy with them. I've rented before this, and know that there are no guarentees when applying. The person probably left some facts out about why they were denied. Give them a try, I bet you'll be pleasantly suprised.

I called twice and spoke to Cari Pierce and explained to her my concern in applying for a house they'd posted on craigslist for rent. My concern was that I had just moved up from San Francisco and had not established employment. I also had only owned property before, and so had no 'rental history'. HOWEVER my roommate was gainfully employed making over 50k a year, with an over 700 credit score, and PERFECT rental history for over 10 years. When I spoke with her over the phone, she said that it'd be no problem and that my roommate would more then make up for the fact that I was not working. So after waiting 2 weeks to apply in hopes to find something else, we applied and paid the $80.00 application fee. We then called 2 business days later to see what the status was only to be told that due to my lack of work, and no rental history that we'd be turned down. WHAT!!!!!????? Are you kidding me!!?? I called and spoke directly to her twice regarding my concern, and of course my application i... Read more

We have rented many different times over the years thru college and have never dealt with such an unprofessional businesss. They wouldn't respond to simple repair requests, creepy repairman named wolf, rude staff. They also are holding back our deposit I would not recommend this business.

I've been renting from Pierson's since May of 2007 and I couldn't be happier really. I have a relatively low rent in the heart of Laurelhurst, nice house, yard's taken care of by Pierson's, huge basement, spacious house....and the Pierson's people themselves are pretty nice too! I've not had a single bad moment with them, from talking to the Leasing agent to moving in. I've had a large number of things go wrong (generally things breaking, house is old) and they're there either the same day or the next day, no questions asked, problem solved the first time. Always friendly on the phone, communicative, always friendly and responsive to questions I may have. They recently came by for a bi-annual house inspection and to see if there are glaring issues around the house/property that needed taking care of. How nice! I really don't understand why there are so many damn bad reviews when I honestly can say they're the best Property Management Company i've ever dealt with.

I rented from Pierson for 5 years. I was happy with how they responded when problems happened like the garage roof leaking (it was completely reroofed in several days), and the water heater going out (replaced the same day we called). I liked the people in the office. I also was pleased with their knowledge of my rights as a renter. I would recommend them to my friends--in fact I have, with great results.

For the past 12 years I have rented 2 different houses from Pierson Property. I lived in the first house for 5 years. It was a great house but the property owner could be difficult. at times. At two seperate times during my time there the owner tried to terminate the lease early so that they could move back into the house but both times Pierson Property interceded on my behalf and protected my rights as a renter. When I finally moved they promptly returned all my deposits. Before I moved Pierson Property located another great house for me that met my requirements for location, price, and most importantly the style of house. I have always had a dog so finding a nice house is not always easy. I have lived in this house for 7 years and continue to find that their service is excellent. In my years in this house the refrigerator and dishwasher have both needed replacing and in both instances it was done very quickly. The exterior of the house was painted a couple years ago and ... I've rented homes and apartments for many years in several places from southern California to NYC. I've found Pierson Property Management Services to be more than satisfactory. I've rented from PIerson's for 5 years and always had good service. The staff is courteous, quick to fix problems, and someone always answers the phone. Since I've been here the building has been painted, inside and out, and new carpet has been installed in the common areas. If you're a renter who appreciates a responsive manager, I'd recommend this agency.

This company posted a new ad for more money a month on craiglist for a property that still had an application pending on. Then they tried to make up an excuse as to why they couldn't rent to me... because they hadn't gotten a call back from a refernce of mine and it is their job to rent out the property for the owner!! Apparently the owner wanted it rented before my reference could get back to them; hello, it was a holiday weekend!! It is bad business to take someone's money for an application fee and then start processing and accept ing another person's. Never mind the fact they switch agents you need to talk to because everyone is always in a meeting. Aren't they supposed to talk to future renters? I should have listened to the previous reviews and not submitted my application but instead I hoped my experience would be different!! I have faith it will come back to bite them in the a** at some point and recognize their shadiness now probably saved me from major headaches in the f... Read more

My roommates and I have rented various houses in Eugene and Portland over the past 6 years and have never dealt with a shadyer half a$$ operation than Pierson property management. First we move in to a house that was advertised to have washer/dryer and realized the first day it didn't, when we asked about this they said too bad, you signed the lease already. Lights weren't working and that took multiple calls and 3 weeks later to get fixed. Over the year we had a few problems and chose to fix them ourselves rather then be cross examined as to how the problem occured. We paid our rent on time every month and when our year lease was coming to an end we were asked to renew for another year. We offered to renew for 6 months w/option to renew for another 6, they said owner wouldn't go for it(if they even called to ask?). After our annual inspection they were still ok with us renewing, but I had multiple conversations(arguments) for them to come fix a minor piece that fell off sink on an old... Read more

I think it's great that they leave me alone , but then when I do need something they're not around to help. They never return phone calls and when you do have a need to call they're really rude and overall seem to have a chip on their shoulder like you have bothered them at home or something. Probably will avoid them in the future.

I live in a really great house, even though it's a bit run down and neglected. And believe me if it weren't such a great house then I'd NEVER want to deal with Pierson Property Management! From the very beginning of my dealings with Pierson, they've either been smarmy, unresponsive or very slow to address major problems. Problems like the heat not working. Multiple times. There have been other, more serious issues that I had to fight tooth and nail to get resolved. The upside is now I know my renter's legal rights. I've learned that, much like an insurance company, I'm not likely to get issues resolved on the first try. It's like they're not very interested in servicing renters, only protecting the anonymous owner, who's a piece of poo for neglecting his house but making a fat profit every month. I'm not against someone making a profit off of renters, but in the past I've dealt with owners who are responsive to issues and repairs. It seems oddly as if others I've dealt with care about... In the last 11 years of renting I have had good and bad experiences with rental companies. Pierson rates as the worst I have ever dealt with. I can't decide if they are just stupid or they just don't care about their renters. First off, they are impossible to talk to. The only person that deals with leases only works 3 days a week. And not always the same 3 days. And even then, they will need to ask someone else and they will say they will get back to you. So you call them back a week later, oops, not in the office. So the next day you call again. They give you an answer, but not an answer to the question you asked. Again, need to talk to someone else, say they will call you back. and repeat... They don't fix problems unless you hound them and are just generally infuriating to talk to. When talking to them about issues with the rental or the lease they are often inconsistent with what they tell you; which leads me to think that they are either lying or they are just idiots that do... GOD these people are ridiculous. The most unprofessional and unorganized property management company I've seen yet. To top it off, they're shady liars! My roommates and I were the first to turn in a complete application for a beautiful house. Everything was approved, they told us it was all gravy, we were getting ready to move out (we had 2 weeks left) until a week later I get a phone call telling me that they FORGOT that they didn't accept cosigners at this house and that they gave it to someone else who turned in an application AFTER US. WTF IS THAT?!?! We had ONE WEEK to scramble to find a house. I was in tears, stressing out, not to mention freaking out about my final exams coming up. Today I called the number on a house ad. "Pierson Property Management, this is __________" ...I hung up. Never again.

To be honest, I find the representatives of this company to be rather unprofessional. They seem to lock up when there's something that actually has to be done that doesn't involve giving them money. They used to be great, but staff changed and so did attitude. Use if you must, but not recommended. I too have to make numerous phone calls and cross my fingers to get the most simple administrative/maintenance tasks done.

They were really pretty decent. We rented a house, and the place was kept in good shape. There were some large things that needed to be taken care of, and after some nagging (with Pierson acting as a go-between with us and the owners), they got done. Our deposit was returned, completely, in a reasonable amount of time. They did try to nickel and dime us here and there. For example, a roommate moved out, and a new one moved in. Pierson requires all inhabitants to be on the lease. No problem: paid an application fee, and the person was accepted. But then Pierson also wanted a $50 (I believe) fee for changing the contract. We found that pretty ridiculous, and refused to pay it.

Yikes! I don't know what these folks are talking about, but their experiences are definately not like mine! They showed me several places, I chose a great house at just the price I wanted, in a great neighborhood, and they were so helpful all the way through the process. I had lots of questions, just coming here from out of state, and they answered every one. Even signing the paperwork- not one of my favorite activities- was smooth and organized. I've done the same type of work in different states, and I could just tell that they know their business. Even when we had to call for maintenace during the snow storm- a very hectic time for everyone in Portland- they were as fast as could be expected, and the maintenance guy that came out to fix things was very, very funny to boot! When I read about someone trying to blame Pierson because their apartment walls are thin, I have to think that you get what you pay for. When you choose to buy something cheap, you really don't have a right to ... Read more

These people are not only rude but they violate lease agreements. They lack any and all customer service skills. I have been without heat for 2 days now and even after calling them mulitple times a day to get it fixed, they have offered little to no help in the matter. It's 50 degrees in my apartment and they have yet to offer any sympathy or apologies. This is the second time this winter that the heat has broken. Their rental rates are through the roof for the quality of apartment they offer. The walls are so thin I can hear the neighbors sneeze. I would not recommend anyone use their services. I wish I had found this site before signing a lease with them because it would have saved me a lot of aggrevation. Please save yourself the same troubles I have had and do not rent from Pierson Property Management Services!!

Not sure about these folks - not rude exactly, but they never return calls, and if ya manage to get them on the phone, they tell ya one thing, tell ya another, then neither turn out to be quite true. Between this and the other post about late returning deposit - won't be wasting any more time on them...

Sometimes, their reps can be rude. At best, they aren't always very helpful. They are now late getting us our deposit back. Could be worse, I guess, but definitely could be better.
