I was reading some reviews of me and git's stood out the most. I just want to say this:You said you didn't care for a 13 yr. old's opinion as far as politics goes. That is fine with me, but, does it really matter how old the person is if they are giving a good, solid political opinion. Because if you think about it, in a few years, I'll be voting for the president and stuff like that. A 13 year old can give just as good of an opinion about politics as anyone else can. They can sometimes even give a better one than an adult can. Just wanted to give my opinion on this.Update: I'm changing the rating, mabye I took it a little too personal.

His reviews are far more articulate, informative and amusing than most... and well worth reading.
UPDATE:
I certainly didn't mean to 'chase away' anybody, and I'm pretty sure numbah didn't either.
Hope Git gets over it and comes back to join us in irritating the overly sensitive once again.
NOTE: At the time of the UPDATE, this review had the following rating: (4 voted this helpful, 4 funny and 0 agree)

Seems to be ill-tempered and intolerant of other reviewers. ( and I know he won't care that I post that) but he is smart and writes good reviews.
bri719 03/23/2009
good guy, great opinions
Chalky 03/10/2009
irishgit is a great reviewer. Chances are if you've reviewed something, he's right there reviewing it.
SilverFox 01/31/2009
UPDATE: Irish continues to justify my high opinion of him. His latest reviews of 2008 Oscar nominees are admirable and must-reading for film buffs. He definitely knows movie craft. Irish is a guy I'd like to meet in person sometime, next time he gets to San Francisco/Silicon Valley, and hoist a few with.ORIGINAL COMMENT: Irish is in the top echelon of my list of favorite reviewers. He has an amazing ability to get to the heart of an issue in a couple of sentences, which is uncommon (especially for me) and is an ability I envy. It takes a high intelligence to be able to do that. He's often witty and humorous, speaks his mind clearly without any b.s., occasionally acerbic (I note some reviewers are offended by that; that's their problem, not his), doesn't suffer fools gladly. Broad knowledge of many subjects, and almost always interesting and worth a read. I appreciate his insider viewpoints on political matters. I usually agree with his reviews. I'd like to see him write a more detailed review sometime, in light of what he can do in a few sentences.
Erinlove 01/12/2009
You are the only one that would talk to me when I first joined a week ago. I read your reviews and a lot of them are in mans language but I can't blame you for that. I am sorry you took a break because you became number one. But you should see it is probably because everyone thought you were the best. That's what I think. Maybe who ever that dude was honestly believed that you were the better guy for the spot. Although I do not know the politics of this site yet.
Randyman 01/10/2009
I'm not 100% sure what happed here lately regarding my pal Irishgit but I'm going to take an educated guess. A couple of reviewers really pissed him off. There's no need for names. I think one of them pissed him off on general priciples. Git's principles. The other, however well intentioned, compromised Git's integrity. I don't think the Git gives a rat's ass whether he's in the top position or not but if he is on top, he wants it to be the old fashioned way. He wants to earn it. I see it this way. It's the equivalent of being a world champion and waking up one day to find out your fights have been fixed. It makes a man feel like a fraud. Not good.
ILikePie 01/10/2009
One of the best reviewers the site has seen since I've been here; his mixture of wit, wide-ranging knowledge and not being afraid to speak his mind made a consistently excellent combination, and one which has influenced me as a reviewer.
Hopefully we'll see him back soon after Helpfulgate.
georges11 01/10/2009
I still don't understand the dust-up going on here. But I have enjoyed immensely reading irishgit's reviews. I can understand why he is number 1. It is because he deserves it. He's earned it. I believe this takes a lot of hard work. Sometimes, even today, ignorance is bliss. I take reviews and votes at face value and try to give them also. I am no pacifist but I lke to know more about the battle before jumping in. In closing I might add that irish's reviews are, as I've said before, witty, ascerbic, and well-thought-out. He is one of my favorites here among many.
irishgit 01/10/2009
I need a break. Catch you later.
ORIGINAL
As far as I'm concerned, I'm nothing special. There's about six people on here who I find more interesting to read than me. And about the same number who are funnier. No, I'm not going to name them. RIA for me is a place to come and do some five finger exercises between serious work. To those of you who find me entertaining, thank you. To those of you who don't, oh well. I ain't losing any sleep over it. And to those of you I irritate or make very mad.... Rest assured that that was very likely what I intended to do.
Wiseguy 11/24/2008
After his remark to me a couple of years ago about wearing "brown shirts" I thought: 1) Change detergents. And 2) Try to write reviews that people can actually read without scratching their head. I'm still working on the second one.
Molfan 11/24/2008
has a good sense of humor.Writes some good comments. I enjoy reading his posts.a very good writer.
CanadaSucks 11/02/2008
Funny. Smart. Plus he doesn't kiss anyone's ass around here. Has that kind of writing style that makes be think that if you were creating a roundtable in a group or business from scratch you would have to have this guy there. Acid test- "Do I want this person working for my competition or against me?"
Scuta5 06/25/2008
Yeah, you are not afraid to state yur opinions, that's good. You remind me of Simon from American Idol. You will leave yur mark on this site. I wish you well. Even tho i don't really like people who are to harsh, but that is what got you here, so that is pretty cool. Also, i hope I leave a good mark on this site.
MissPackRat4Je sus 05/26/2008
Irishgit tends to be one of the more light-hearted reviewers on RIA. His reviews can bring a smile to my face. He also has some great fun lists to post in, such as the one about the product label instructions. The opposite of myself in many ways and does things that I wouldn't feel comfortable doing. But he says what's on his mind, and who am I to deny anyone that right? But it was like something was missing when he wasn't here.
LadyJesusFan77 7 05/26/2008
I am very glad that irish made it back to RIA when he did because I was just starting to get into his reviews. He is right, we are different. But that's ok. The world is made up of different individuals with different personalities, and I think the world would be a dull place if we were all alike.
Donovan 05/24/2008
Even though I seldom agree with irishgit I think for the most part he does a excellent job with his reviews. He is intelligent and forthright. He is not shy with his opinion and by all rights should not be. Irish you have earned your place with RIA and I wish you the best. God bless!
lmorovan 05/05/2008
Stopped even reading his reviews... boring....offensive...heartless... But then, I could lie and tell that which he might want to hear,... nah, I don't have to live with him, I have to live with me. Update: I apologize for my review of this member. Will take it off upon request, but in the meanwhile, it will be a monument to my lack of humanity. I am sorry.
FranksWildYear s 04/14/2008
Back with a vengence and has infused the daily prceedings with wisdom, wit, and balls of steel.
HelloKitty09 03/31/2008
I'm glad that he came out of retirement. Rateitall was a very dull place without our rabble-rousing Telly Savalas.
Loerke 09/05/2007
The first post I read on RIA was by irishgit. Don't recall what the review was about, but I remember thinking that any site with a regular as smart as that would be worth sticking with. So I can blame him for getting me hooked. To me, irishgit is one who treads his own path, a bit of a solitary individual, in the best way. Maybe it's the terseness that contributes to that image I have of him: the guy's a true mensch. He doesn't really care what you think of him, and doesn't go fishing for compliments or even for helpful votes. I will disagree with him every so often, but he's earned my eternal respect.
oscargamblesfr o 04/11/2007
Original :Interesting, witty, and diverse reviewer who seems to know how to simultaneously make his point and allow others to make theirs. Seems to know how to make a cutting remark, but also knows how to control his vitriol, unlike say...myself! Extremely knowledgeable about baseball, music, and the situation in Northern Ireland. Courteous and well-spoken, and his views on literature, while sometimes very different from my own are incisive, thought provoking, and intriguing. Good sense of humor too. Had to revert to the original remarks- sometimes, in my opinion, your reviews get a little dated by referring to then current 'RIA controversies,' if I may be so pretentious, as was the case with the review I posted about a year ago or more ...anyhow, one of the best all around reviewers, knowledgeable, helpful, and often really, really funny...
Victor83 03/20/2007
I view irishgit as an asset to RIA because, while I disagree with some of what he says, there is no doubting his intelligence or his perserverence.
numbah16tdhaha 03/04/2007
Fantastic. Even when I disagree I still chuckle. FUNNIEST MOMENT: On my sports moments list, I have listed, "Randy Johnson dusts dove with fastball" and irish's comment read, "That'll teach those birds to dig in at the plate." We exchanged a dozen or so messages about the concept of doves batting and I have never laughed harder. UPDATE: git and I have been laughing about the #1 spot like those old guys in the balcony on The Muppet Show...
GenghisTheHun 02/28/2007
I appreciate his entertaining reviews. He has been the Big Dog for a long time. Is the guard changing?
hotel283 06/08/2006
Getting a bit coy of late but probably the reviewer whose opinions are the most compelling to me.
Ih8rateitall 03/13/2006
HE IMPLIED THAT I HAVE SEX WITH BLOW UP DOLLS! However that's his right as a American citizen. I deducted 3 stars because he's a red sox fan. Then I read his Kid Rock review and I added 1 extra star. I agree, Kid Rock is terrible! He seems to be a good all American guy even though he implied that I screwed inflatable dolls. That was kind of funny though.
93century 01/25/2006
Even though he probably thinks im an ass, i find his some of his comments humorous.
Specialboothvi cJr. 11/13/2005
I'm changing my 1 to a 3. Some of his posts aren't bad but a lot i don't agree with. And he is on the funny side. But overall he attacks so many things.
edt4 10/24/2005
Probably my favorite reviewer on this website. I've disagreed with him on some topics (I didn't think "Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia" was as awful as he did, and we disagree on the merits of Lovecraft as a horror writer) but he presents his opinions straightforwardly, with a cogent intelligence and refreshing irreverence, and, perhaps most importantly, a great sense of humor. Bravo...
kattwoman 09/09/2005
i like how he says things. hes very outspoken and knows what he is talking about. he is one that i will be looking forward to reading more of his comments.
souljunkie 07/22/2005
It seems he has the kind of nature that wants to get under your skin if he strongly disagrees with you. He also has a sharp toungue that can be coarse or funny, but what I notice most of all is that this is a well written and very infomed guy. The kind that wants to be sure he knows the facts when laying down his opnioin, not like myself. I tend to speak from personal experience and my own heart, which is more likely to be questionable I admit. If you've got a beef with this guy you better do your homework and have all your ducks in a row or you might just be intelligently shot down.
cutegurl 07/06/2005
Although irishgit and I may not see eye to eye (okay that may be the understatement of the year) I have quite a bit of respect for his opinions. He also makes me laugh which is always a plus. Perhaps my favorite thing about his comments are that they are always concise and to the point and not overly long. He doesn't repeat himself over and over again which sometimes seems to be a problem on this site. Overall a very solid and witty reviewer.
James76255 06/27/2005
We Irish have to stick together! (Even the gits)
Gentle Jude 06/05/2005
Seems like a good bloke. I have read some of his comments (not all, because I simply don't have the time to do a microscopic analysis) and they seem very fair to me. He has made some fairly good lists and he should keep up the good work. He is a good person to have on RIA. I don't think anyone in the near future will match him on all the helpfuls he has. He must be doing something right to be in top position!
CherrySoda99 05/14/2005
Despite the fact of things in the past, I'm going to (finally) update my comment and say that I admire Irishgit for his ability to put humour and sarcasm together. He's witty and almost charming when he wants to be. I like him as a reviewer, and respect him greatly.
texasyankee 04/21/2005
Can be quite coarse, but witty, smart and usually on target with a lot of things. Look forward to his posts.
LanceRoxas 04/14/2005
How can you argue for anything less than five stars for a guy that has racked up five billion helpfuls. Irish is always a fun read even though I don't always agree with what he has to say particularly on various political matters- his substance is always insightful. His literary reviews are phenomenal- as are most of his sports reviews. *******Update, Of course Wedgefufu would know something about drivel considering all her posts have been less than two sentences and predominantly about tv characters.
Flick01 04/14/2005
Covers an extremely wide range of topics. Pretty well rounded reviews which often include explanations and reasons. There's a few select areas of thought where Irishgit really shines and if you can tap into those subjects there is much useable knowledge to be gained, something which seems to be in short supply as things evolve here on RIA.
helmut 04/13/2005
UPDATE: Whoah guys, perfectsona's not just messing around he/she's SERIOUS. O.C.: Up on the description it says irishgit left his first comment on RIA on 9/3/2003. And in less than two years he has managed 6000. The guy averages 10 comments a day. I would give him five stars just for persistence. But, thing is, most of his posts are amusing and intelligent. Knows a heck of a lot about sports too.
defbean 04/08/2005
Personal matters aside, I can't lie, he is a very solid reviewer full of funny sayings I would most likely hear from my grandpa. From what I have read he is pretty much the same as PBeavr without the unnecesarry weblists. Keep it up. Update: I don't like when he meanlessly updates or bumps his comments so they will be the first one that people see, even though he doesn't do it often.
Underspin 04/01/2005
Not one to mince his words or sugarcoat anything, irishgit is a straight-shooter who calls 'em as he sees 'em. I appreciate his wit and candor, as well as how clearly knowledgeable he is on classic literature, baseball and ancient history. Strongly opinionated and dedicated poster, as his plethora of ria weblists he's created attest.
Vudija 03/13/2005
I've both agreed and disagreed with him, but what's new? I think everyone can say that just about anyone. I like that he's very open and straight-forward with his opinions. He comes across as intelligent and well-informed of the topic in which he's replying. You can't help but like someone that can expand your mind.
Mr.Political 02/10/2005
His specialty certainly seems to be modesty (whether or not it's genuine is another matter entirely). As for his posts I find them rather humorous when they need to be and intriguing when that is his objective. Regardless of the situation, though, irishgit and his posts usually prove why he has been found so helpful. That is, they typically incompass some sort of logic and reasoning rather than rhetoric and demonization.
Skizero 02/10/2005
so i change my stance on this guy b/c my opinions were unthought and unfounded, based on a little bone i was picking over Kerouac. Irish is a fantastic reviewer, well rounded to the point where i dont understand why he's even on this site...seems like slumming to me. there's a reason why he's number one. and that's b/c Irish's reviews are concise and clear, and they have definitely unwavering stance.
Cartman117 02/07/2005
He is funny he explains all about the topic all I need *OT* samthecoolbear maybe your just a female..........
Djahuti 02/07/2005
He's made me laugh and made me think-I like that in anyone. He also has some of the best weblists going!
scarletfeather 02/06/2005
Now matchmakers, before you start matchmaking, remember that Irishgit is taken!
ClassicTVFan47 12/16/2004
I would very much like to thank irishgit for his positive comment. I know that I have changed. I'll admit, I used to be quite closed-minded and didn't always tolerate other views that differed from my own. And, of course, many or irishgit's views are different from my own. But, he does have some interesting views on things and seems to be very well read, if a bit cynical to me.
