Looking for a stylist in the city, I made an appointment with Heather Rae after a friend made strong recommendations. It was the best haircut I've every received! Heather is not only an amazing artist, she is funny, and playfully s exy. Heather Rae's contribution at Art and Science in conjunction with the affable staff create a dichotomy that contributes to the makings of what is a successful salon.

i loooovvveeee art and science! i've lived in chicago for almost 5 years, and have jumped around to 10+ salons, never really happy with any one stylist. I used to see a stylist at the Wicker Park location, but a little over a year ago, I came to Heather Rae for a cut at the Lincoln Park location and I'll never leave her! The best haircut I've ever had, truly. She is really sweet and a great stylist.

I called over there to find out about promotions for new customers (as mentioned on citysearch) and the woman on the phone was so incredibaly rude that I would never consider visiting this salon. She hung up on me when I thanked her for checking. Any place this pretentious does not deserve my business.

I gave this salon three chances to perfect a haircut for me. Good technical cuts, but not what I asked for. The head stylist bitched about the other stylists the whole time I was in the chair about how they did not listen to clients or respect them. Ironically He made me wait to get started about 5 minutes while he finished a text to his sister. He then proceeded to leave the chair 4 times and take phone calls. As a result, I got a haircut that was too short, too old and too hacked up to do anything with. When I sent an email explaining I was moving on, he didn't even read what I was saying and responded I was hurt he did not take my call when I called back to discuss. What an EGOMANIAC. You are NOT that good, Pat.

I had long beautiful hair, and went to Art and Science b/c it has been so highly rated. I asked for a trim, and ended up with 3" pieces of hair all around my head. I'm an athlete, this "hipster" do is totally not me. My stylist disregarded my lifestyle, and the hairstyle that looked best on me. I went in with pretty long locks, and left with what I think is the latest hipster look. Which I never asked for. Be careful. A trim at this place = makeover, even when you don't want one.

I went to Art and Science about a week ago. My husband has been going to Candido Torres for a few months now and I have loved the way he has made him look so I decided to try him out. Wow my hair hasn't looked so good in such a long time. His hands are magic. I want everyone to go to him. I will be promoting the salon but more him as a person then anything. I am glad that I am able to share my experience with everyone.

I used to be a client of A&S about 9 months ago. This place is loud and chaotic and the staff is pretty snobby! The only reason I went to A&S is because I followed my stylist there. So about 9 months a go I go to get my hair cut and the girl @ the desk tells me my stylist no longer works there. I was in desperate need of a cut , so I went to the stylist they suggested. The stylist @ the wicker park salo had no idea what she was doing! I felt like she just got out of beauty school. When she was FINALLY done I was not impressed in the least bit! She also was very persistant in wanting me to buy products. My other stylist never did that. Its just bad retail skills! I will never go back to any of the locations and I'll tell my experience to anyone who asks me about A&S. Fortunately through the grapevine I found out where my original is at, and I couldn't be happier!! If you're looking for an awesome salon you'll feel comfortable in DON"T go to Art & Science!!!!!

Hands down the best haircuts I have ever had were from A+S. I have been to London, NY and now live in LA. I have been to the most expensive salons there are and the best barber shops out there...and none of them have the same quality as the cuts I ever received at A+S. They take their time on each cut, it grows out very well (the sign of a great cut) and they alway listen to what I want. Ask for Agie. She is one of the best! I miss her more than my ex.

I have been seeing Nick and Ella for quite some time and was devastated to hear that they no longer work at Art & Science. But my faith has been restored since I found out that they are now working at Studio 110 Salon on E Delaware Pl. So just to let everybody know this is where you can find them.

i've been seeing aaron for my cuts and kat for color for about three years and i love my hair. i went from salon, to salon on the gold coast for the first couple of years after i moved here from n.y. , with underwelming ( to say the least ) results. art + science saved my hair , and the expense of flying back to n.y. ( i was so desperate it almost happened ).

This place can't keep the people i love! First Aaron left, and since I have been seeing Christin, who is great. But now I can't find Kat! I have had two other people color my hair since she has been gone, and the girls are very nice, but the color just isn't the same. I miss Kat, i feel like these new girls don't really care or aren't as experienced. If you know where to find Kat, HELP!

i've tried dozens of salons in chicago and this is the best. i've tried 3 of the stylists and 2 of the colorists and have always been happy with the results. the place is relaxed with none of the snobery you find at most upscale salons. one of my stylists left and went to " C salon " so i gave it a try, Big mistake, lots of attitude and she didn't seem to try as hard. i guess the boss at art + science must be big on quality control, if you want beautifully precise cuts and amazing color give them a try. ps. my husband loves it too !

I'm a straight indie kind of guy in his 20s with short hair (short, meaning bangs to the eyes) and I was looking for a place in the north side that would give me a cool cut for whatever price. I can afford it. I first went to Sine Qua Non and was disappointed. The staff was friendly, but my hair was cut so short I could've gone to some barber in the ghetto for similar results. Then I came here. They do a damn fine job of giving razor haircuts and a textured look. My stylist is also pretty hot. I've been going here for the past few months now.

I thougth an Aveda salon is suppose to be relaxing,..this place has loud pounding music & staff that is barely over 21. Exactly what I cannot stand about the majority of these salons. Both stylists,..too busy figuring out their social life & looking around to see who is doing what and who is wearing what & who is coming in the door to focus on the job at hand. Results were unsatisfactory at best.

i used to frequent this place often, however, now that they are highly rated everywhere... they are overbooked. they appts run late, they make you wait, then rush you because the next appt is waiting... last time i was there was a horrible experience. rushed my cut, raised the price w/out telling me ahead of time, then shuffled me out the door. will not be returning.

I got the worst haircut of my life at the Evanston salon. I'll never live it down -- the cut was so dreadful that it's now legendary among my friends. I had told the stylist I needed a professional cut because I'd be interviewing for positions, and halfway through she changed her mind without consulting me and started in on what she thought was a trendy cut -- but was not suited to my style, my face, or the types of positions I was interviewing for. I've never had this happen at any other salon, before or since.

For about 3 years, I used to go to art+science for a cut every 3 months. From my experience, the place is great for short 'dos like artfully sculpted bobs. Walking out of every appointment, I got compliments and attention on the street. However, since I've grown my hair out, the quality has not been the same. I think art+science is great for 'edgy' cuts, but if you want something more natural, try someplace else.
