Totally cool uniform, but for a sh1tty team. You can not go wrong with a combo of black, silver, and white as far as uniforms go though.

Got to love the silver and black. This is what a football uniform should look like. The players look like they belong on a gridiron. Traditional and tough is the message they send.

Great colors..silver and black, but a little plain. I would add white in their color scheme around the single color silver block numbers on the black jerseys and vice versa on the white. Other than that, great uni's!

100 Years from now, the NFL could be wearing some space age looking super uniform but whatever it is, the Raiders will still have silver pants with a single black stripe, black and white socks, black home jerseys with single color silver block numbers, silver helmets with a black stripe down the middle and a shield on the side with our one eyed pirate. The more cartoon like other teams uni's get, the cleaner the Raiders uni looks.

Hate the team, but they have some of the greatest uniforms in the NFL. The Black and silver is one of the best color combos ever.

The only reason I give these guys a five star is because I have pulled for them for many years and so did my father, so you might say it is in the family.  I do agree with everyone else in saying that Al Davis needs to go.  He is horrible with his philosophy of a differnt coach each season.

Being a LIFE LONG RAIDER fan I do infact love their uniforms, however one change that I would definitely roll out for just a few games would be BLACK pants / Silver stripe with their WHITE away jerseys. This look would be clutch beyond words - like a tux with a bad ass attitude - "lookout" !!

this is one situation where the old look is not cool. they look like white trash with no money for uniforms. i know of inner city high school teams with better looking jerseys.

Al Davis, please listen to me. You were not a good coach, you are not a good evaluator of talent. You are the reason Oakland has two good years followed by years of terrible teams. Go buy a copy of NFL Headcoach and let people who have a clue run your team. Stop suing the NFL, Stop suing Tampa Bay for copy right infringement (come on, they had a gay pirate on their helmet for years, give them the skull). Your team has some potential if you will merely stay away for a year or two. Let your coaches coach for more than 2 years and you might start to see some improvement.

I'm a die hard raider fan since 1984 - 85 and I will simply say the raiders are trash. Don't get me wrong, I cheer them on every game they play, even now with a 4-9 record. I'm loyal to my teams and not on the bandwagon like others are with teams that win. The problem with the raiders first and foremost is that their organization is like a correctional facility. Take all the bad guys society don't want and try to turn them into productive people. It's a monumental job that needs a legendary coach at the helm along with a no nonsense supporting coaching staff....which the raiders don't have, never had and never will have as long as Al Davis has a hand on the team. They Got some hall of famers and long time contributers working for the team, but they were rebels in their day also. so you can't take a rebel and try to teach a younger group how not to be a rebel when the teacher never tasted what discipline is like themselves. I can't blame the players for most of if because i... Read more

I've been a fan of the team since the sixties, so I'll give the current edition a third star just for old times sake. Not much here this year though, although they look a little more promising than the 2004 edition. The playoffs are not even on the event horizon right now.

I present to you the 2005 edition of Why the Raiders Will Lose. In the Raiders' very first game they managed to give what I feel is a full season preview. They lost. Just as I thought it would, the Raiders high-powered offense kept them in the game until the beginning of the second half before their defense let the game slip away. The Raiders offense had 351 Total Yards. That's more than they averaged last year. Pretty good really until you factor in penalties (a point I'll get to later). However, their defense gave up 379 yards to the Patriots who have never been considered a big offensive team, especially now that the Patriots lost Charlie Weis. Some would say it was a big night for Randy Moss. Despite being ineffective most of the game, Randy did catch a 73 yard TD pass, enough to statistically make him over 100 yards with 130 yards total. However, Randy's existence on the field can be entirely wiped out with penalties alone. The Raiders always have been and always will be a poo... Read more

Love them or Hate them (I like them), no other NFL club has the mystique of the Raiders. Some of this has to do with the best uniforms in all of sports. Some of this has to do with Madden and Al Davis. Some of this has to do with their pscycho fans. And Some of this has to do with the rousing Raiders theme song you hear on those old NFL films (where voice of God John Facenda is narrating) and you see Darryl lamonica hurl an 80-yard bomb to Warren Wells or see Jack Tatum unleash a punishing hit. Though they have been down of late, I am a firm believer that the NFL is High on the Hog when the Raiders are winning.

There is no more classic look in the NFL; design has been essentially unchanged, right down to the color of the facemasks, since 1964 (white-shield helmet decals and gold road-jersey numerals were worn in '63; road jerseys had silver numerals in 1970). Ironically, modeled after Army football team, with silver replacing gold due to Al Davis' color-blindness and helmet decals added, and have remained the same while Army's unis have changed many times since.

I like the the fact that the team has not changed uniforms in over 40 years despite the recent trend of teams doing so. However, I know I am in the minority on this but I think these uniforms are a little too plain. I would add a stripe on the sleave or something minor. I would not revamp the uniforms completely though.

Just a quick note of trivia, extending from alpepper's post: Daryl Lamonica had been the back-up (controversially) to Jack Kemp in the mid-1960's (pre-Jim Kelly) glory days of the Buffalo Bills, when they won the AFL Championship in 1964 and 1965. They traded Lamonica after the 1965 season to Oakland, which started the Raiders' ascent to glory and the Bills' long, painful decline, both of which lasted almost 20 years. Lamonica lit the scoreboard up in Oakland, taking over for the aging (and ageless wonder) George Blanda, who was still place-kicking (and occasionally playing quarterback) until well into his 44th year.

Its a great uniform but NO WAY is it the best...NO WAY...just because they wear silver & black...you can't even make out what is on the logo unless you look at a picture. The best helmet logos are the ones you recognize from the cheap seats..i.e. PACKERS , BENGALS, RAMS, BROWNS, SAINTS, All of these teams have better uniforms than the vastly OVERATED Raiders Unis!!!

A GOOD example of retaining a classic look, unlike the Cowgirls. They should try silver numerals trimmed with black like their '94 throwbacks, and as worn in the early 70's as a retro look to be worn once in a while (since the home jersey hasn't really changed). If not that, the only really practical improvement they could do to their look making it 5 * * * * * STAR is to WEAR BLACK CLEATS!!! If minor-league, title-less teams like the Succaneers, Falcons, Jaguars and Sea-birds try to look tough and sleek by wearing black footwear, then the ultimate BAD-A$$ team ought to as well. The Raiders should be ashamed it was not them who resurrected the classic sable-cleated trended now part of over a third of NFL teams' uniforms. BLACK CLEATS!!!
