You should be able to post zero stars for this place. As a former instructor at this absolute dump, I can tell you that Discovery Center is nothing but a scam and the place is run by a man who is more than sleazy (thank you The ric) - he is also the biggest thief with no moral conscience. Mr. Robert K. Wagner, the president of the filthy place, has refused to pay me for over 2 years of teaching classes there and bringing him money and business because he supposedly had to reimburse a few students for a canceled class. But from what I'm gathering, he doesn't even give refunds without a threat. Instructors thinking of teaching there, be warned. Do not teach one class without a contract that he has signed. He will do everything he can to rip you off. Ladies, those of you who have taken The Art of Exotic Dancing for Everyday Women with me, please know that you can take the class with me at my studio for half the price Discovery charges. DO NOT TAKE CLASSES AT THIS PLACE - BOB is a bad man... Read more

I worked for this "learning center" a few years back, and not only was it the worst job I've ever had, the business is completely shady and I wouldn't trust them with a dime of my money. Anyone giving this place more than 1 star is being generous, especially if they went on that rafting trip, which is a constant disaster. I've seen trips return as late as 1in the morning. You know what, I wouldn't even recommend you drink the coffee they have at check-in. Trust me. Oh, and good luck getting your money back if you ever want a refund. The owner (oozes sleaze) ensures that the process will be so difficult and painful that most people finally give up. I know you may be reading this thinking, "Hmm, former employee... sounds like a hatchet job." I'm not that kind of a person. This place was truly that awful, run by a man I wouldn't trust if my life depended on it. Flaky instructors, shoddy facilities, a virtual fire hazard from top to bottom... ugh. Makes me sick when I think of all the ... Read more

I attended an excel course at this center at it was the worst experince i have ever had as a student, the teacher was a BIG JOKE, i learned more on my own than i did at this place. He was very unprofessional. There was also a $20.00 "material fee" which we had to pay on the first night, it is now 3 months later and after 6 attempts at receiving my "materal" or my refund, i came up shy. All i can say to everyone is to do yourself a favor and stay away from this lovely establishment. THIS PLACE IS A MAJOR RIPOFF.

Raft at your own risk! The description is very misleading & it doesn't tell you that you'll be rafting for 4+ hours. Be sure to wear water shoes (check out Target for cheap ones) and be sure to bring a bottle of water in the raft, you'll be glad you have it. Also, pack a lunch for the 90 minute yellow bus ride to the shallow river. The buffet after rafting is disgusting, but after 5 hours with no food or water you'll be so exhausted you'll eat anything. We were supposed to get back to Chicago at 9pm but actually it was 11pm. Ibuprofen is highly recommended.

If you want to start about 45 minutes late, have the tour cut short cause you ran out of time and mostly go to stores that sell small junky things or sex toys, then this is the tour for you.
