Took the Muir Woods/Sausillto bus tour on September 17th. Our tour guide "John" was a bald, obnoxious, insulting horrible tour guide! I can't believe he hasn't been fired! There are other reviews complaining about him, how many do you need to get to realize this man is not what your company wants representing you. He started out by telling us to all be quiet and not talk when he is talking ( or more like mumbling in his microphone about women he sees jogging or walking along the way! ) He actually pulled off the side of the road to get out and come to stand in front of us to tell us not to talk! Specifically scolded a man and his wife from France who spoke little English. EVERYONE on the bus was appalled by this rude man! Then because of road construction on the way to Muir Woods he took another road back to Sausallito and drove like a maniac without saying a word! The best part was riding the ferry back to San Fransisco so we didn't have to get back on the bus with him! We would neve... Read more

Copied here from my travel diary of a year ago. Jul 19, 2008 6:46 PM It is almost eight months after our January trip to San Francisco from the East Coast. I'm still seething, but have calmed down enough to write about the one thing that really had me boiling mad. We booked three tours with Tower Tours in Ghiradelli Square through Expedia. The first two tours were fine. We had a run of bad weather since we were in SF during January (rainy season) but we were inside most of the time for the wine tours the first day and the Muir Woods tour though cold, was still open the second day, i.e. the park was not closed. However, even early on in the week, the weather reports were talking about really severe storms (worse than usual) expected for the end of week. I called Tower Tours every morning to see if they were going to cancel the third tour (our last day in SF) - which was to be to Carmel, Monterrey and the 17 miles scenic coastal drive. Tower Tours insisted to me that they would not cance... Read more

My son and best friend went on the tour to Muir Woods and Sausalito. The Woods were beautiful and Sausalito was nice. The only thing that really upset me was the bus driver. I don't remember his name but he was bald and a very obnoxious and rude to everyone. We were told not to talk on the bus and all he keep doing was making up poems and reciting them to us. There was a little girl on the bus who was sitting up front with her Dad and he made her go to the back of the bus and sit so she wouldn't make any noise. I would have liked to have heard more about the history of Muir Woods and surrounding areas. I would recommend this tour to anyone but not the Driver!!!!

My wife and I did the Muir Woods morning tour today Jan. 19, 2009 on Tower Tours. Our guide(John)was the single most obnoxious tour guide I've ever had (I'm 60 and I've seen a lot of them). He actually told us not to talk on the bus (whisper only!). And then proceeded to sing ("sing"??) LOUDand tell us about all the famous people he knew (Robin Williams was one). When I ventured to speak to my wife sitting next to me, he actually stopped his "Performance" and asked us not to talk on the bus. Same thing happened with another couple in front of us. Now, I'm talking about normal conversational tone here, and not at all loud. I have never EVER seen this on a tour. Frankly I'm still just nonplussed a) that he said it and b) that I let him get away with it. Anyway, "if you're going to San Francisco" and you book with Tower tours, make sure it's not with John the Tour Nasi and wannabe Rock Star. Cause on John's bus it's WHISPER ONLY. I feel robbed. I feel outraged that we paid $88.00 t... Read more

The bus itself was nice and the driver was actually a very nice and jovial person. Unfortunately, it was hard to understand him about a third to half the time and found it annoying after a while to hear him go on and on and on when it was hard to understand him. I'm on vacation with my family and didn't want to have work so hard to enjoy what I was seeing, and after awhile I gave up trying to enjoy it. I wanted to get off the bus and stay off after 30 minutes into it, but couldn't leave my family behind. Also, a little irked at the 5+ minute infomercials for their other tours that we heard twice within the first 30 minutes of the tour ; instead I wanted to hear more about the city of San Fran than the other tours they offered. After a while, I didn't want to hear anything and couldn't wait for it to be over.

We took the wine tour with Pete Wilson as our guide. He was an excellent tour guide and I don't know how he does it but he kept us constantly entertained and informed throughout the entire trip. Tower picked us up at our hotel door promptly at 8:30 am...we were on a beautiful tour bus and on the road by 9 am. We visitied 3 wineries and had 1.5 hrs for lunch in Sonoma square which had plenty of restaurants to choose from. We came back into Charlotte early enough for Pete to give us a litle extra ride through Pacific Heights. It was a great way to spend the day and we were back around 5 pm in time for dinner.

My family took the Monterey and Carmel Tour at 27 February, 2008. The first 2 hours of the drive, we kept having fogs on the way so we could not see everything. Then, we arrived at Santa Cruz, then Monterey and later the 17 mile drive. The 17 mile drive is a wonderful drive with Pebble beach golf course on the view. When we got to Carmel, we are a little bit confused by the streets because there is no street signs. When it was time to get back to the bus, we had a hard time finding the bus. When we finally found the bus, it was already running!!! We shouted and shouted and shouted calling the bus, but the bus driver kept going. How can a bus driver left without making sure that everybody is on the bus. The bus driver might be the worst Tour Guide we ever had. We had a wonderful time with Tower Tours on the Muir Woods Tour. I hope Tower Tour Tour Guides can make sure that all customers is on the bus before leaving.....

I did the Muir Woods tour and it was well worth it! I had flown up for a weekend of walking around the city and wanted to go to Miur Woods without having to pay for a cab, so this worked out perfectly. Unfortunately, we only stopped there for an hour or so, so I wasn't able to get much of a hike in. I did manage to get away from the paved areas and get away from the group a bit. We also stopped at Saucilito for some shopping and to get some salt water taffy. I had a blast!

This was my first trip to San Francisco and Tower Tours really made it a memorable one. I was here for my anniversary, and they just treated us like family. The person checking us in had a great big smile on her face, just warming up our day. The drivers were so knowledgable and funny. We took three tours, the city tour, wine country (of course) and monterey and carmel. The tours were so much fun, and I laughed so much on the wine country bus, our driver was Bill. I can't wait to come back for more. We miss it already.

I took the San Francisco City Tour with Vincenzo and had a BLAST! This was the most amazing tour ever! It was fun, exciting and just a great time. The driver was thorough and had such an exciting personality. I was originally recommended for another tour company, but when I saw their bus pull, I had to take it. Trust me, I have never had so much fun in my life. My wife and I could not belive the sights, and the skyline and what a beautiful day it was. I recommend this tour to anyone that wants to have fun and see a lot. Tower Tours is supreme!

While in San Francisco, a friend and I did three of the tours offered by Tower Tours (Guides were Bill, Vincenzo, and another gentleman fairly bald, had an accent, took us to Muir Woods and Sausalito, very positive attitude...can't remember his name). Also, we had Norma who picked us up on a shuttle prior to the tour one morning. These four people were phenomenal and the tours were equally wonderful. We could not have been happier with the whole experience. Would use them again if ever in San Francisco. They went out of there way to make it a pleasurable experience for everyone involved.

Beautiful scenery interesting tour. Magnificent bus. Fine fish restuarant in Cannery Riw, called "Fish Hopper", believe it or not. Guide Wolfgang very knowledgeable and entertaining. Should have own comedy show.
