They have always provided me with great service. Regardless of what others say, I give them a 5.

Wow. I saw the previous post and so dearly wish I'd gotten that kind of treatment. Instead, my requests to show me how to operate something in my relatively new car as well as my numerous requests left via voicemail to please call me back, were all ignored. One of the issues that I brought my car in for was ignored, in fact I was told there was no problem despite everyone else who's been in my car being able to notice it easily. The worst part was their calling to say my car was ready to pick up, my bf going down there to get it only to be told, "woops, we don't have the key," and being sent home with a rental for the weekend -- and then getting a call the next day saying it was ready (again, apparently with key), but now the rental place was closed, so I had to wait 2 more days and go down there again. Then when I did finally get to actually get my car, it has a pretty bad scratch on the door. Are you f-ing kidding me? The service guy said they'll fix it if I bring it down AGAIN a... Read more

After six months of trouble-free ownership, my Mazda's radiator fan starting running constantly. Royal told me - twice - that this was completely normal. They were dismissive and seemed to be annoyed I was bothering them with my problem, although they were happy to charge nearly $70 for an oil change. Because something was obviously wrong, I took it to another dealer, where they diagnosed a faulty thermostat. Now my car runs like new, as it should since it only has 12K miles. A few years ago I had a similar experience when the AC on my nearly-new VW failed. Royal Motors is only 5 minutes or so from my home, but they're so incompetent, so dismissive and so unpleasant that I choose instead to drive 30 minutes, cross a bridge and rent a car for day. Royal Motors is a terrible choice for warranty service, and only a fool would use them for services not covered by a warranty.

I've unfortunately been here...more than once :( But, I have always had great experiences wiht the customer service and they don't seem to charge you for things you do not need. I took my car in to have the engine looked at when I noticed the check engine light coming on. They quoted me at $800.00 to fix it, gave me the breakdown of the charges and it ended up costing just that. When I drove it two weeks later I noticed the check engine light came on again :( I was worried they would charge me AGAIN to look at it ( seeing as I'm a single female damsel in distress ) but they didn't! I took it in, they looked at it....cleared a valve they thought was clogged and voila! The check engine light was off and I haven't seen it again since! I do recommend shopping around for somewhere a little cheaper because taking a vehicle to a specialty auto repair shop is almost always more expensive!

Wow - purchased 2 cars recently and have to say they have exceeded my expectations. They owed me work on my purchased car and did not process my purchase until work completed -timely and effective. Service has been completed ahead of schedule on cars. Chris - Svc Mgr is very accessible, helpful - start all of your service dealings with him.

$54 in labor charges to replace my wiper blades. That's just the beginning in a long line of problems I encountered in my first and only visit to this place. Just awful.

Royal Motors is a bunch of rip-off artists. I took my car in for a tune up and they wanted to charge me $2200!!! I had been warned that this place was completely overpriced and a huge waste of money, but that warning didn't arrive until after I dropped off my car. The customer service was also terrible. They were rude and disrespectful. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

The service rep -- Patty Hudec -- was rude, impatient and unhelpful. She actually refused to listen to the noise that prompted me to bring my car in and instead would only write down a description of the problem for a repair technician to decipher at some later time. My entire interaction with Patty was punctuated with her sighing and rolling her eyes, as though she was doing me a great favor by allowing me to spend money at Royal Motor for the repair of my car. When I had not heard from Royal Motor after six hours, I called Patty myself. She was clearly exasperated that I would dare to inquire about the status of my car. Patty then informed me that the technician was unable to diagnose any problem based on her description of the noise, and suggested that I make an appointment to take the car out for a ride with the technician. This was particularly galling since I had specifically requested that very thing when I brought the car in earlier that day -- a ride wasn't even necessar... Read more

It is rare to find a good mechanic these days, especially from dealerships. I went in for a standard replacement of a recall item. Several days later, I developed engine problems relating to the installation, and I am being charged to get it fix! I must admit, the staff was friendly, but it all seems like an act to get more of my money. I would recommend going to other private shops (search online for a good mechanic) instead of paying exorbitant prices for incompetant service.

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR THERE OR YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF, ALONG WITH A SMILE AND A GOOD PORTION OF ARROGANCE! I had a stuttering problem on a 1999 Mazda Miata with the check-engine light on. Brought the car in for repair. I was chargeD 160 dollar for a (5min), so-called diagnosis and new spark-plug wires. Total charge 450 dollars (a 10 min job)! Inquiring about the expensiveness of this repair on the phone, the sales advisor became quite rude and in an arrogant fashion suggested I could go wherever I wanted if I don't like this. When I picked up the car, the check-engine light was STILL ON and the stuttering was still there! I talked to the general mangager who said they would give it another shot and call me the next day. They did. This time the "diagnosis" was "carbon build-up on the valves" (I still have that written estimate and I will see if these people can be sued for this), the engine would have to be taken apart and sent out for repair. Cost 1500 dollar plus!! Having some mechan... Read more

I recently took my 2000 V70R AWD Volvo to Royal Motors for the first time. I am the second owner of this car, which has 140,000 miles (young for a Volvo) on the odmeter. The car was having an issue with the computer control fuel system. They completed the repair same day and for free, since it was a recall item. I was VERY pleased with the service. Natasha you rock! :)

Maybe they are trying to change their image, but I went to Royal Motors to have my used Jetta serviced after 4 failed attempts at other dealers. I just bought the car 4 months ago and feared it was a lemon because no one else put the time in to diagnose the lighting problems. The service I received 4/17/06 was great. They were friendly, competent and acknowledged that my car is still under warranty. Note, however, I had been there 3 months previously and service was not as good then. Maybe they got a new manager? But whatever the change it is an improvement and I am delighted.

I came in to Royal Motor and left 2 days and $500 later with only a new tire and an oil change to show. After leaving, my check engine light came right on and my car wouldn't run properly - they never apologized for the inconvenience and instead charged me $160 to check why the light was on. The service was absolutely horrible, they charged prices that are through the roof and I ended up pulling my car and getting the work done somewhere else (who charged me nothing compared to the additional $100 Royal had proposed). The location is convenient but I will sacrifice the drive and take my car out to McKevitt in San Leandro from now on.

Not sure what happend to the other reviewers, but my service was excellent. I got the appointment I wanted. After I dropped my car off they paid for my taxi to work and my taxi back to the shop. The work was done quickly and everyone was very pleasant. My car was under warranty so everything was free.

I took my car in twice and it will be the last time. The service is rude, rushed and way too expensive for such poor service. They did not FIX what needed to be done so I had to take the car back..a very simple repair (light replacement) became too much of a headache. They also were rude and unapologetic for their Mistake!! Go somewhere else if possible!

This dealership is a slimy as they get!! Quality customer service is ABSENT! Everyone from their sales team to their service department is rude, abrasive, obnoxious, dishonest uniformed, and (worst of all) uneducated. I have had numerous AWFUL experiences at Royal including, but not limited too: bad repairs (after a routine check, my car was returned with brake problems that weren't there before), inability to diagnose problems, my car was once there for a month and different service people told me different stories, it's a fight to get them to cover ANYTHING under warranty, blamed me for their screw ups. The people at Royal are ignorant, inconsiderate and uneducated--DO NOT BUY, LEASE, OR SERVICE YOUR CAR AT ROYAL MOTORS!!!

I have taken my car in twice with the same problem and I am made to feel like the one in the wrong when the issue arose again. The "customer service" reps are the most condecending and pass the buck bunch of guys I have ever had the displeasure of coming accross. The manager basically told me that the beauty of it all was that he and I had a choice....and theat I could basically take my business elsewhere when I asked him to stand behind the work that they had performed. Unbelievable!!

This dealership's repair service center is AWFUL. I have been treated poorly, overcharged and had poor quality repairs, they never return phone calls, you name it, they have screwed it up. I will NEVER go here again and I recommend everyone stays away from these people.
