Overpriced, pretentious, and leaves a burned taste in your mouth that never goes away. It's like my ex-wife after she's been set on fire.

Over-roasted, overpriced swill made by clueless teenagers. Anyone who pays $5 for a cup of heated sugary milk with some stale over-roasted espresso in it deserves to be had.

This is THE best coffee in the world!!! I love the Breakfast Blend. I have tried many coffees, and none compare to Starbucks. I was a member of the "Gevalia" farce way too long, and their coffee costs you much more when you factor in shipping, unwanted shipments, and stress associated with their lies.

The coffee is OK but it's highly overpriced for what it is. I've also ordered coffee from them and it was full of grinds at the bottom of the cup! I made sure to get one of their free drink cupons or have them make me another drink. Unfortunately in many areas if you go out for coffee your choices are either overpriced Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts' weak coffee. I've had some very good coffee there and I've had coffee and drinks that do not taste that good there. Their Pike Place coffee is OK but it's nothing special and I wouldn't go out and buy pounds of it like I've seen people do. Some of their coffee does taste very good and some of it's completely burnt when it's roasted. They used to offer Yukon blend that had a bear on the bag all year round and that is very good coffee but now you can only get it during a certain time of the year I think in the fall/winter? I've had their new instant coffee and it's not bad for what it is but not all of it dissolves when you make it and y... Read more

The Home coffee I will rate a 2. It was very bland and the only hint of taste I got was kinda sour. I had the house roast kind and it was bitter. it was drinkable but not pleasing. The store coffee I will give a 4 for cappuccinos but a 2 for lattes. Not my thing. Not my cup of coffee. Too sour and Not strong enough. The cappuccinos were pleasant, however they could be sweeter.

I hate to sound like a coffee snob but I like strong coffee and I prefer a good bean that doesn't taste bitter. I really like the starbucks coffees at home and try to buy them on sale because they are pricey.

During a 3 day stay in Helena, we ordered a total of 5 Caramel Macchiatos ( 1300 Prospect Ave. ). Four of them had to be redone. We had them fixed, but on one of the occasions, the young man fixing them for us acted as if we were being a pain. I'm accustomed to Starbucks being more consistent than this, and the help being more polite on the RARE occasion when a drink has to be corrected. With the cost of the drinks going up, and the cups getting smaller, a polite employee is getting to be more and more important. We wont be back.

Terrible service!! I ordered a tall mocha with a personal cup. They want to charge me over $4, I told them it should be $3.4, they said that it's a grande mocha because my cup is a grande cup!!!! Astonishing!!!

If I'm ever feeling like I have $5 in my pocket that shouldn't be there, going into a Stabucks is the best way to lighten my load. The coffee tastes about as good as the coffee at the Cambidge Hotel Coffee Shop near my house but is about 4 times the price.

As far as evil-corporate empires go...Starbucks isn't all that evil. In fact it's rather benevolent. Now take my opinion with a grain of salt. I write a lot, and I do most of my writing AT one Starbucks or another. It's convenient, and I love the drinks.

Rating the coffee...not the ambience etc. I have about a cup of caffeine a month, when I really need to stay up. Last night could not sleep and needed to do office stuff today. I had a tall cup at 10am and felt literally numb, almost drunk, until almost 8pm when it wore out after dinner and a workout. I got a hundred things accomplished and even rambled off several rateitall local reviews. Granted it has a higher effect on me, but really if you need to stay awake this stuff is ridiculously strong. Definetely a unique taste, awfully acidic and bitter though.

Personally I am not a fan of Starbucks. Their coffees are always super weak and I can hardly taste the coffee. I used to work as a barista for years and and I have found that if you want to get good coffee you have to stay away from the big chains. Coffee making is an art and it takes time to make a good cup. You have to make sure that you steam the milk right, grind the beans right, etc etc...things that busy chains don't have time for. A perfect espresso is supposed to take approximately 25 seconds from the moment you put it on till it's done....this is never the case at Starbucks, and the reason why their coffee tastes watery. Another thing that annoys me there is that they just leave the milk to "steam by itself". No wonder they don't get foam on their coffees and have to use spoons to scoop up old foam and put on top of the cappuccino...gross!! My advice, if you want good coffee, look for small coffee shops. There are tons of them all around the city :)

I take my coffee seriously, and this is the golden calf of coffee. I enjoy how they have many varieties and the Gazebo Blend, Fall Pumpkin Spice Blend and Christmas (Holiday) Blend are not to be missed! Prices still average for just plain "coffee" by the cup! "Lot's of caffiene and Lot's of flavor" may be to intense for the novice and even moderate coffee lover.

I am pleased to say that I have finally found a Starbucks that has EXCELLENT customer service! I had to wake-up super early in the morning. That already automatically put me in a bad mood. My doctor's appointment just went south on me. Even worse mood. I go into this store and everyone were all smiles, while I was still ordering, the Barista already took my order ahead of time to get the line moving. Everyone were all smiles and seemed really genuinely nice. OMG, I go Starbucks every day, all over the city -- just wherever I am. This is the very best one! Great job guys!

I guess if I was in death valley and on the show fear factor for 10k I would have to drink it but.....Yes I have and I have been to cuppings with the worlds finest coffees (starbucks did not even make the grade to be included) but I did compare them to starbucks and could see that under the above circumstances any one could train their pallet.Have you ever been to a slaughter house and seen the long lines of cows going in? One cow follows the other (the most popular) so they think they are getting something good. be smarter people they got beat 6 out of 6 test by McDonalds. And they were beat by Yuban. wakee wakee and go smell some real coffee at a local coffee house its generally fresher and better for the place you live. dont believe me taste them side by side un-cupped with an open pallet. and if you can think for yourself you will find that you are smarter than a heifer led to slaughter. -5 stars for community, -5 stars for coffee, -5 stars for predatory marketing, -5 stars for wha... One of the best cups of coffee I've every had was one of those institutional sized machines my sister used at a big gathering I attended a few years ago. I asked her what it was and she said Starbuck's decaf. And she also mentioned you have to use the recommended amount of coffee which is one tablespoon per six ounces of water. It was really tasty. Everyone at the party enjoyed it and it went fast.

Their benefits become unattainable as they do not allow you to work the necessary hours required. Also and most importantly the BARRISTA is one of the most demeaning jobs in America. SBUX benefits do not help pay the rent!

We go into The City (SF) for museum and art gallery related work/play/hobby. We are usually coming from Hayward so we take Bart into the Civic Center/UN Plaza station, and as we exit, there is our favorite coffee fix right at the top of the MUNI, BART, and F-Line escalator. Great convenient spot to pick up a hot breakfast sandwich or a scone with my Venti Cup-A-Joe to start my day. Fun staff makes it a great place to start my mornings in the City on my way to the main Public Library or the Asian Art museum that we work with. If you must drive into the city there is valet parking behind Starbuck's at the Hotel Whitcomb. We rarely drive, but if we have lot's of art to haul, it's nice to have the option next to my Java-Junkie paradise for my morning caffeine fix.

Can't get enough. I 100% of the time get a Frappaccino. The Java Chip Frap w/ extra Chocolate sauce is sooooo good. If you want something light, you should get the Mocha Light or Carmel Light Frap. I don't care for the Java Chip Light as it just tasted watery.

For ambiance and a place to sit a few moments before heading to work, or a pick me up, Starbuck's mellow atmosphere and smooth jazz music is a reasonable refuge. But for their drinks they're OK, and OVERPRICED. But their new canned iced coffee is actually pretty delicious.

While they do make decent coffee, expresso drinks, and tea, I have to agree with numbah on the sizing and prices. Being a former barrista, I have a bit of respect for those who can craft a tasty beverage from expresso, steamed milk, and other goodies. In my town, I'd hit Willow House before Starbucks, just because Willow House is privately owned and cares about the customer much more then their comercial cousin.

High on caffeine content, it would almost seem it is "spiked" to promote mild addiction. A study by a Dallas Texas newspaper found the levels to be orders of magnitude higher than the closest competitor. I guess there are worst things to get addicted too. High levels of bitterness in the flavor if drank by itself, although, that is probably what makes it work so well in the flavored concoctions that they come up with. Their real genius is in the advertising arena, everything even the sizes names are by design. If you are a real coffee connoisseur this will never be rated high, too brute for nuances. If you just seek immediate satisfaction with minimum brain power (not meant to be an insult, simply that it is not required to find deep flavors in it) this is your place.

Starbucks consistently delivers a good product based on methodology in making coffee. I know we try so hard to be different from America in not accepting chain stores in our neighborhoods. However, I find myself going to Starbucks ,regardless of what city I am in, because I know I will be getting a good cup of coffee. Although I still think service sucks in this city, the overall experience is decent.

Starbucks has the best coffee. It is always fresh, hot and perfectly brewed. Service is usually great. Most other coffee houses serve coffee that is too weak and a little too old.

I'm tired of seeing a new starbucks popping up everytime I turn around in this city. Isn't it enough that they almost own a monopoly at all airports? There's nothing GREAT about this chain. Next time you go there ask them to skip the ice on your cold drink and see the server have a crisis...LOL

Starbucks has been very consistent with the roasts and prices of their many selections of coffee beans from all over the world. I will most likely always buy beans from them, for their consistent pungent aroma and strong flavor. But their isn't anything that differs from one Starbucks from another, distinguishing it in any good way. As another may have already said, it has become the McDonalds of coffee houses, with its corporate agenda, it may take over the coffee world . . .
