Their "Bird Person" offered me $2 a bird for my Java Sparrows! He OBVIOUSLY had no clue what a Java Finch/Sparrow was. This was less than he offered me for my Zebra Finches. I wanted to laugh in his pierced-to-heck face, but I was too shocked to do anything but pick my lower jaw up off the floor. They have a lot of decent bird stuff, but they obviously have no clue about the birds they are meant for! If you're going to be put in charge of a department and especially in charge of purchasing animals from local breeders, you should know those animals and everything about their needs backwards and forwards.

I just took my daughter to Animart's Drop Off Day Care and she had a great time! I was able to run over to Target and do my grocery shopping in peace. My daughter played with kittens and had fun making crafts. Well worth the $20 I paid for the 2 hours. Moms - if you haven't checked this out yet, believe me, you should.

Do not buy a puppy, cat, or anything at all from Animart. The following is an excerpt taken directly from their website, "Why Should I Adopt an Animart Pet," •All commercial breeders (three or more breeding females) must be USDA licensed and comply with regulations and standards enforced by APHIS with periodic unannounced inspections. These inspections are public record and are monitored by ANIMART for any reported violations. The requirements cover housing, handling, sanitation, food, water, exercise, veterinary care, transportation and protection against extremes of weather and temperature. •All commercial breeders must also meet and commit to ANIMART’s Breeders Excellence Standards, including clean, modern facilities, humane care guidelines, follow good breeding practices, establish a program of veterinary care along with regular veterinary visits to their facilities, and agree to ANIMART’s health guarantee. Puppies must be at least 8 weeks of age and weaned before leaving th... Read more

Do not adopt an animal from this place in madison,wi my daughter got a kitten went thru all the vet checks and what nots and her kitten had the FeLV test its part of the adoption and he was so they say in good health in November of 09 well its January 2010 and her 7 month old kitten has tested POSITIVE for FeLV and also has a blood parasite as well. He has had this from day one now we have to prove it with vet papers. So dont believe them when they say your animal is healthy take it to your own vet before you take it to the last vet check at animart. We are pretty sure he tested positive there but there not going to tell you they would lose a sale. Now my daughter is heart broken and angry her little kitten could die and to top it off there were 3 other kittens in that cage with him so guess what those kittens have it as well. BUYER BEWARE! Take your animal to your vet Since I had wrote the above my daughter had to put her kitten that she had for 3 months to sleep he had FeLV and... Read more

To Whom It May Concern; We have the unbelievable pleasure to be the guardians (Parents) of a darling little Cockapoo named Willow who came to us from a couple in our area that purchased Willow from Animart in Madison, WI...They simply couldn't keep her. They paid $400. for Willow and we gave them $75. for her and all her things, with the Absolute Promise to love her forever...Too Easy! A million 'baby-steps' later, after Willow spent most of her young life in a crate, she became the smartest, healthiest, happiest little adventure-girl anyone could imagine. Her crate has been taken over by our rescue-kitty, Honey-Pie as her personal retreat and Willow has never looked back or entered it again...Honey-Pie owns it now anyway! While writing in some dog forums about the tremendous intelligence, hypo- allergenic qualities and magnificent health of Willow, I got 'pounded on' by members who accused me of 'supporting Puppy Mills'!...We simply gave a nice little dog a home!! ... I went to Animart the other day to get cat supplies. I' don't usually shop there but I did that day. I stopped to pet the dogs and saw feces in two cages. I went on to pet the kittens and some of them had no food. There were too many kittens to a cage. I also couldn't believe they had their front claws removed. Isn't that reguarded as cruel? I couldn't believe they get 300.00 a kitten. I adopted mine at PetSmart for 75.00. That included shots, nueter/spay and no declawing! I don't think I'll shop at Animart again.

A wonderful store!  You have to look closer to the price tag in all departments because a lot of vet work is included in everything you buy.  They are stricly rescue for their cats/kittens.  I was there one morning and a staff member found 7 kittens in their dumpster!  People drop them off at Animart because Animart WILL NOT PUT THEM DOWN...even if they have certain things that other places may not take the time/$ to treat. They actually even try to always buy fish that are "tank raised" not wild caught...same with reptiles, etc.  A store full of animal lovers.

With all that's included in an adoption of a dog, it is well worth the $6-700 price. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences here. I will continue to shop at ANIMART for all my pet's supplies.

They claim to be an adoption center but their 6-700 dollar price tag for a mix breed poves that they dont care about the animals but the money. Thats not an adoption fee thats a 500% profit! I didnt even want to give them a star but this lowsy rating system wont let me.

Their fish are extrememly unhealthy. The associates are rude and have little knowledge of anything pet related. Also, they have slightly higher prices in comparison to their competitors.
