When Alexander Bell created the telephone I don't think he realised just how big his invention would become. Considering how much of the population now relies on mobile telephones (and to some degree also landlines) it is amazing just how big an impact he has had on everyone's day to day lives. It's not just mobile communications that were developed from his invention however, Tim Berners-Lee also used Bell's invention to create this little thing which late became known as "The Internet". So yes, quite influential I'd say!

Alexander Graham Bell began the trickle that became the stream that is now the flood of the modern information system. It has changed the pace of the world. News equals reaction and now that news gets around so fast we live in a volitile world. The speed of information will increase as time goes on.

He's definitely played an influental part in history. It's a great way to keep in contact with someone other than writing letters or e-mails.

I wish he hadn't invented the telephone. The world would be a much happier place without all the gossip and interruptions.
