Okay, this one hits the scoreboard. I would cringe if someone actually called me this. . .

i don't remember ever using it but that is because i really try not to call people names. it is not a nice name but i can think of a lot worse. if you are being called a douchebag that is because you have sunk to a disgusting low.

So, which one would you rather be...the douche bag or the douche nozzle?

I use it daily, but to avoid using it Florida and still be understood I'd have to learn more spanish.

"Douchebag" was a popular insult in the NY underground of the '60s and '70s. Its rising general popularity can probably be attributed to exposure on TV (the only "reality" for most sedentary Americans).

This nickname is really surging in popularity these days, and I have no idea why. It seems kind of gross, but I am hearing otherwise educated people say this word 3-5 times per day. Oddly, a recent study of language vs. helpfulness in user generated content (forums, reviews, etc.) shows that there is a strong correlation between the use of "douchebag" as an insult, and the perceived quality of the comment. Not so much with the word "sucks" or CAPSLOCKS. http://ignorethecode.net/blog/2009/09/29/comments_s ize_does_matter/

I tend to use douchebag derivatives to insult such as douche or d-bag....but douchebag as a whole is pretty effective.

Possibly will continue to proliferate in its use because, despite being pretty disgusting if you actually think about it, it's still apparently okay for TV: http://gawker.com/308182/saturday-night-lives-2007-douchebag-awards ps. the listing description for this is wrong (and slightly more gross than the real thing).

a douche bag is not a left over tampon... Its part of a device used for cleaning the vagina. If you're going to advertise an insult at least figure out what it really is douchebag :]

I've used this one quite a bit lately. I find it not only fits most situations but is also a lot of fun to say, with a variety of ways to say it.

Its overuse by the kids on "teh interwebs" prevent me from rating this one highly...

I don't think I've ever used it.  It always sounded lame and unimaginative to me.  Really, only a douchebag uses the term.  Oh.  Damn!

Yikes! If this is the current king of insults I'm for a new hype in favor of some other term, and for restricting it's use to people who behave as Ridgewalker describes.

From a Family Guy episode, when President Douchebag was re-elected:"The people have spoken and they want FOUR MORE YEARS OF DOUCHEBAG!"

I agree with Ridgewalker that this is the current king among insults. It has become ubiquitous without seeming overworn (my favorite place to see the term being used well is www.hotchickswithdouchebags.com). It still seems funny in the way that a word like "poseur" was in the '80s or "wanker" in the '90s: both terms deflate the pretensions of the overly slick and overtly successful, usually men.

My favorite use of the word is from the movie 'Revenge of The Nerds.' Jock: Whatta you lookin' at, Nerd? Booger: Well, I thought I was looking at my mother's old douchebag but that's back in Ohio.

This name describes Dr. Condi Rice. She needs to use her talents to make this country a safer place instead of helping Bush to wipe his stupid ass.

The reigning king of all insulting names. I shorten it to douche but that's just me. As in, Col. Rhoden is the biggest douche I've ever met (and he is).

Hahahaha, well, it's at least unique (more so than the typical insults). (By the way: What's up with labelling the box DISPOSABLE Douche? As opposed to the kind you KEEP or something? Of COURSE it's disposable . . . alright, this ends my off-topic rant, sorry . . . )
