FROM RETAIL SECURITY TO JOB SECURITY

At some point during one of Carlos Mitchell’s many 16-hour workdays in retail security for a major chain store, he made a decision: enough was enough.
“I needed to change my life,” he says. “I needed to get control, and be my own boss.”

A magazine ad for SMC caught his eye. “It looked like it was something that would allow me to set my own hours, and at that point that sounded really good to me,” Carlos recalls. “Also, I was looking for job security--- and that’s something you really can only get with your own business.”

First Order Comes Fast

Once the SMC Membership Kit arrived, Carlos followed the directions on the Money-Making DVD and showed a catalog to some friends. “I got an order right away. I think it was three days after the kit arrived that I got my first order.”
Obviously, he didn’t stop there. Carlos’ goal was to become a wholesaler, and a local hardware store--- one of a well-known chain--- was looking to enhance their Christmas selection.
“It was a nice start, a $200 order,” Carlos says. “While my profits were just $125 from this order, it was then that I truly saw the potential in this business.”
Now, Carlos has catalogs with customers in all 50 states; display racks in some filling stations; fundraisers with churches and schools; a website (“I had a famous radio personality buy a wall clock from me”); and of course, he continues to supply the hardware store, among others.

Just What He Was Looking For

“I needed to control my hours,” says Carlos, “because I was working myself into the ground at my regular job. With my SMC business I still put in 10-hour days, 5 days a week--- but that’s okay, because they’re MY hours, and I’m working for myself. And 10 hours is a lot better than sixteen!
“Also, at the age of 49 I’m at the point where I need to think about security.” Like all of us, Carlos was fully aware of the danger of unexpected layoffs that can happen without warning when you work for someone else. “I’ve got that security now. I’m expanding into some Christian bookstores, and I’m on track to make substantially more than I was making in my previous job.

“I have tried at least 10 other companies and suppliers, (as a business start-up) and I have to say it was all a nightmare. SMC is the best company I’ve worked with, by far.”

This company is horrible. Any company that forces membership after 30 days is worthless. If you are looking to join beaware. People who love this company are ignorant...The must be selling their stock for double what you can buy it for on amazon. You want to know how much SMC's wholesale prices are (since they dont tell you until after signup) Visit amazon,,, Prices are very close in comparison.

I would not rate this company as being a company, not one that is real enough to realize they are charging me 489.00 for a product I never received. They have sent a collection agency after me and I never even received any material from them. I was never charged the first dollar for the shipping of anything this is crazy. Now they want me to pay for some perscription or membership I never recei ed casue they say I never called to cancel my service. I never called cause I never got charged or received anything.

SMC can be a rip off if your not smart about it, myself, i signed up. and i got the 200$ package. of course they try and sell you other stuff like gift cards and a website that costs 50$ or more a month, but if you only spend that 1st 200$ you get your catalogs with all your items and you stay a smc member for life. for 1 payment of 200$ but its not as easy as it looks like on tv. yea you get your items 300% profit but in your booklet they send you they have pictures of items with high prices alittle to high for the items your selling. some items are priced ok, if you go around and sell to people and tell you'll give them 25% off it makes you look shiesty, so i recomend you going to gas stations and asking the manager if you can sell your stuff at their store. show them the real prices and give them 50-75% of your profit as long as they pay your shipping costs you'll be making money. but without somewhere to sell your items i dont suggest this is the path for you. if your good at creating websites etc then go for it. but you will spend countless hours posting pictures after pictures of your products on your site. and then advertising your site etc , if your retired and are bored n want somthing to do with your time. this is a great thing for you . but what smc doesnt tell you is. to sell in your own little shop you have to have a wholesalers liscence. which doesnt cost much. over all i would give this a good rating. but after you dont buy anything for the 1st 2 months. they will stop calling you and bugging you. and they always tell you when they are going to call. so its not out of the blue where they call you and try to sell you stuff. your "coach" will be the one who will try to sell you stuff and make you deals etc. but i love smc its easy money. i went from sellin weed to sellin birdfeeders legally. plus its fun to walk around saying you own your own business. makes you look better to the oppisite sex. another good thing about smc is when they ship your items to your customers they dont show the real prices etc. but when they ship it to you they do. smc is highly helpful. but the catch is they try to sell you "deals" as long as you only pay that 1st 200$ i recomend this for anyone.

SMC is a rip off and their representatives are liars! I requested information via the internet, and of course, instead of just sending me the info, they had a high-pressure salesman call me. The first words out of his mouth were that he wasn't trying to sell me anything. RIGHT! He made it sound SOOOOOOOO good, and since it was a 30 day free trial and I would be eligible for a refund (less s/h for the kit), there was no risk. Also, he said IF I decided to have my own web site to sell their merchandise, there would be a $29.95/mo. "hosting" fee, but that the first month was free, but a web site wouldn't even be set up until I called to speak with a coach.

I never even received my kit....UPS kept trying to deliver it after 7pm and I work nights. I left him a note that if he can't deliver it to the apt. office before they closed or to me before 2:30pm, to please return the package as I had to way to receive it. It was returned and I never got started with SMC.

I initially joined on 08/14/08 and my credit card was charged on 08/15/08. (I took the monthly payment plan). On 09/02/08, SMC charged my credit card another $29.95, for "web hosting". The kit was returned, and when I called, the customer service rep acknowledged they had rec'd notice from UPS that the kit had not been delivered and had been returned, untouched by me. I never called any coach because that's to be done AFTER receiving and getting familiar with the products, etc., but I was charged for internet hosting (which was supposed to be free for the first month, anyway).

Now, I can't get get answers from anyone there. They transferred me to their cancellation department, which is a recording giving instructions how to cancel (by mail, e-mail or fax). I e-mailed, but haven't gotten a response yet. If one doesn't cancel within 30 days, you still have to pay the membership fee of $499, whether or not you want to continue. I tried to cancel a little more than 2 weeks after joining, but they will probably claim I wanted too late and will continue to charge my card every month. I know I can dispute the charges, but a hassle to have to go through.

This place is a RIP OFF and they are so nice when they want you to become a member and sell their sh*t, but when you need help getting out and obtaining credit, no one wants to help. The woman in customer service was rude when I told her I wanted to cancel, and why. She kept arguing with me that I could have picked up my kit at UPS since they couldn't get it to me at the hours I needed. I told her I couldn't drive 20 miles just to pick up a package, and if I was to stay with SMC, I'd have to drive to UPS every time I got a shipment from them. That is when she got huffy, then threw me on hold and transferred me to the recording.

There might be people making money on SMC, but these are probably original people who joined when SMC really needed them. Now that they are HUGE, they can treat people any way they want.

I tried it at the end of my pregnancy when I was out of work, then when I realized that I was going to be induced into labor a week later, I called, emailed, and wrote to them that I wanted to cancel. About a month later I was looking at my bank account and realized that not only had they not ever refunded my debit card, yet they took out another payment. When I called to confront them on this issue they proceeded to tell me that they didn't have any records of me trying to contact them at all and they would not refund my money since that day i called was already past my 30 day trial.. They are a scam their material looks like kids made it and it just plain in simple.. WASTE OF MONEY.

SMC only works if you can afford the $500 and something website. It is very difficult to get this off the ground if you already don't have much money to start with. It might possibly work if you can afford to sink money into their plan for success. I was very disappointed. Good luck.

smc is a scam!!!Beware!! once you fill out your info on the internet they start calling you. They will continue to call you until you sign up. Some lady named Cindy will offer you free stuff to sign up that they end up charging you for anyway. She is very rude on the phone and very pushy. Just hang up the phone if these people call you. Don't fall for it!!!
