Arizona Illegal Immigration Law - SB1070 3

This is only new legislation on the state level. The same legislation has been on the federal books for a long time. If the federal government would do their job  this state legislation would not be necessary. There is a lot of misinformation coming out of a lot of peoples mouths regarding this legislation. My understanding is that a person must be stopped or apprehended for some other reason before they can be asked about their citizenship. This does not sound like racial profiling to me. Anytime a police officer does anything from a routine traffic stop to arresting someone for crimes of a more severe nature one of the first things they do is identify who they are dealing with. This is no different. I am not from Arizona, but if my home state of Pennsylvania would adopt a similar legislation I would applaud it..

The law seems to prohibit federal law while adding thier own agenda into it,which i think states will eventfully try to use to find a way to succeed from the nation.! Federal reform is an answer i could live with!!! More militia will eventfully lead to seperation, which i know is included in the constitution of the UNITED STATES,but not in a situation like this!!!

AmericaHere is a rather easy solution about Mexican immigration.
There are 5 steps.
1. Register.
2. Two choices,=20
3. Join the army for 2 years.
4. Or be shipped back to where you came from.
5. After an honorable discharge, you get your green card.
6. 5 more years of clean record and you are entitled to become an American citizen.
7. One more requisite. Ones you muster out of the army you must have learned to speak and write English.
Now, this was not so hard.
I know, I promised 5, and it became 7.
Welcome to the United States of America.
This was not too complicated I hope.
By, Henry Stern.

Bad Race relations... There have been Latin Americans here longer than other folks. To start asking about everyone's legal status here in the US won't work. Especially when a lot of different tribes were here longer and resemble Hspanics. Is that stupidity or what?

May the Lord Jesus ALWAYS be glorified,

I totally support Arizona's law.   By the way, if our socialist federal government simply enforced our already existing immigration laws, Arizona wouldn't even have had to go through all this trouble.  By the way, anyone ever try to be in Mexico illegally?  You would be in BIG trouble. But not here, we dangle the carrot of free education, free healthcare, free everything.  I'm sick of paying propertly taxes to educate anchor babies.

I think this is a necessary step in the right direction. The federal government has long tied the hands of border patrol and also has been intolerably lax in matters of border security. While United States may be a nation of immigrants its a nation of LEGAL immigrants not Illegals. Further step would be to deploy armed AZ national guardsmen to patrol the US-Mexican border. Mexican government is not doing anything to prevent its citizens from illegally crossing a border w US.

I would not want to spend time or money in a state with such blatantly un-civil law. It is reminiscent of measures in extremist regimes.
As a US Citizen, I do not believe in carrying papers within the country. I also do not know what papers one has to carry to prove one\'s citizenship. If one were to believe in such a law then let all citizens and legal residents carry a national identity card.
Such legislation will not really help anything except make people angry and even more frustrated.

Read the Arizona law folks...it's not racial profiling, it is within the Constitution parameters, it is a wake up call for the US Government to take care of this issue, which they have been burying their heard in the sand over for many years!

I checked out the Immigration Laws of 5 south American countries, as well as 4 European Countries, all are restrictive of foreign immigration, and include provisions to check the criminal history, financial ability, etc of people who want to live in those countries. Illegal immigration does not exist in the rest of the World..but for some distorted reason, our Government allows and even encourages it!  Free health care, drivers licenses, free public schooling...why not!

Millions of Illegal Canadians, Asians, Mexican and South Americans and Europeans including criminals such as Muslim Extremists and Mexican Drug Cartel Murderers roam our country.  It has to stop...many if not most of us Americans had family roots that included our Great Grand Parents or Parents LEGALLY going thru the process of becoming an American Citizen, and EARNED a place in this wonderful country. Cheating, lying and ignoring the laws of the land...do we really want people like that living among us! I don't.

Great law & long overdue. If the Feds would just ENFORCE current law, there would be no need for any state to do it.

This is not about race. It's about law. It is ridiculous that we encourage law-breaking in the name of humanitarianism.

Finally, I am PRO-LEGAL immigration. My grandfather came here legally from Italy. I have no problem with Mexican citizens coming here legally. However, I am ANTI-ILLEGAL immigration. I also do not believe amnesty is the right thing to do. I do not want new US citizens who broke the law to obtain citizenship.

I've heard all sorts of baloney from the mainstream media and the illegals Mexican American supporters about how this law infringes on their Constitutional rights.  Personally, I don't think anyone who chooses to sneak across the border in the dead of night has any Constitutional rights!

Immigration is important, but we all have to follow the laws.  Anyone wanting to live here should accept that.

Being an Arizonan, I'm positively thrilled to death and extremely happy that Gov. Brewer signed the bill into law. Other neighboring states are considering doing the same. Nothing has been done on a federal level for the last 20 years. Napalitano was a joke as governor of Az. and hasn't changed when it comes to fighting illegal immigration on a national level. The only person in Az. that has stood up for the law was sheriff Joe Arpaio. The Democrats here defend the illegals and we feel it's because they want to grant them amnesty so they can gather more

I have listened to both sides of this argument. I would like to know what the illegals would do if they worked all week and someone stuck a gun in their face and took all of their money. Well, that is exactly what they are doing to the American employees that work in the fields. They are taking the food and money from the legal Americans regardless if they are natural born or naturalized.
The jails are full of illegals and we have to feed and care for them. I say,we need the national guard on the border with orders to "shoot to kill" any person from a foreign nation that invades this country illegally. If I were President, that would be my first order of business. My feelings is not that of someone that is predigest but I believe in the rule of law.

First, I love Mexican food and there are many Mexican People that I have the greatest respect for.
Second, I have discussed this subject with several of them and the response was the same from most of them.
"I would rather be stopped 10 times and let gobecause I am a proud Mexican citizen of the United States."
Back to ME. The illegals take away from everyone in this country and spit on us and burn the flag in protest for any slight, whether or not it is justified or not. I am 75 yrs old and 1 illegal alien can draw $1000 more social security per month than I can, they are also able to obtain food stamps. This is the first year I have not received a cost of living increase while my medicare payments go up I am proud that Az. has passed that law and now the great state of TEXAS is in line to follow.
Think about this illegals and drug smugglers run the border at will, now think real hard, how many of these border jumpers just might be terrorists coming to bring off something worse than 9/11. The federal government is supposed to control immigration and the borders, if they can't and won't do their job, then the states have to do it themselves. Wake up people, the people in dc need the illegals to support their money grabbing so the trickle hits their pockets. The drug wars are spilling over the borders and the killings become more horrendous every day. You folks that do not live on the border need to pull your heads out of the sand and smell the chili peppers and the jalapinos, They are coming, 65,000 a day they are coming for what the democrats are going to give them, YOUR MONEY.

The first thing to control immigration is close the borders and then get tough keeping them closed. These people know now the only penalty now is to get caught, locked up over night, and get a ride back across the border where they do it all over again. Maybe bust a few dozen heads for them to get message. They get the idea pain is involved, they may think twice in climbing over the fence. "If you do not listen you have to feel". Liberals use RACE for this problem as a trump card. And anything else they can. There is too much violence and killing involved now in Arizona. I believe what the Governor did was a great idea. Round them up, and haul them back. This situation is like a plague. This country keeps playing around with this thing its going to get nasty.

As a former law enforcement person, I can't help but feel that this law will be honored more in the breach than in the observation.  Police officers have too many other vital things to consider, and random stops of people who MAY be an illegal will not be a priority.
Unfortunately, we cannot continue to support millions of undocumented immigrants, and we have to find a way to close the borders and to enforce our laws.
I have no problem with carrying a national i.d. card and would be more than willing to do so if it became the law and necessary to our economic and cultural survival.
Immigrants?  Welcome, but please come in the front door.

I believe that this state's budget is so strained by immigration (because it is) that the hard working tax paying people of that state have put forth a law that allows their constrained and burdened police force and border protection the benefit of expediency. They do not have the manpower to deal with this situation in any other way. And even with this law, there will be no meanignful relief for years. It is not a question of humanity. Arizona is like a lifeboat that can hold only so many people before it sinks.

Sends a horrible signal to the world about this so called "land of opportunity." A bad signal to those who do not fit a preconceived notion of what being an American is supposed to be.or to look like, a worse signal to Latinos, and a devastating, insulting picture to the Mexican diasposra who have been victims of Yankee exploitations for far too long. I am horrified that in the 21st. century this law can be enforceable for more than five minutes.

I think the whole country should adopt this law. As always, if you're not doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about. I'd be willing to bet that 99.9% of the protestors are either illegal or have family or friends who are illegal and may be deported if caught. For the safety of all TAXPAYERS, we need to rid our country of people who have learned in their homelands that the only way of life is to prey on others. If they didn't lead the lives of crime that a lot of them lead, no one would really care that they're here. The protestors should be mad at their countrymen who have behaved so badly that they have ruined it for everyone else from their countries, not at the Americans who have tolerated the bad behavior for waaaaayyyy too long. I don't understand why the illegals want to be here anyway..... all they do is complain about how they have no opportunities because they don't want to bother to learn to speak, read and write English, and they and try to turn our country into the countries they have escaped from because it will be easier for them to fit in. If they want to fit in, they should be required to learn the American language and way of life rather than forcing the American taxpayers to incur extra expenses to cater to them and their languages. Worst of all, WE DO IT, and it still doesn't make them happy. RIDICULOUS!!!! If you want to live here, do what it takes to become an American Citizen!! Otherwise, GO HOME!

I think it is imperative that every American have a tamper-proof identity card if we are to ever secure our borders against illegal immigration. The police or other properly delegated authorities are empowered to ask for any person to identify himself. I doubt they have time to wantonly question everyone they meet, and it is most likely that they will limit questioning to those persons indicating a reasonably suspicious condition, such as hanging around the parking lot of a Home Depot. Those who preemptively suggest that such questioning is racist are trying to prevent identification of illegal immigrants under any circumstance, and should be ignored for the subversive nitwits they are. The Catholic church should be investigated as to whether their tax exempt status should be withdrawn due to their participation in immigration politics.

It's about time someone in our legislature has the nerve to stand up for our country's existing laws concerning ILLEGAL immigration. I am tired of hearing the ILLEGALS referred to as "undocumented". When did this term come into vogue? I am tired, as a second generation of immigrants who came here legally, had to be sponsored, prove that they had a job and could support themselves and their family, of listening to the protests of people who are in the USA ILLEGALLY, AND DEMANDING THE SAME RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES AS LEGAL CITIZENS. Demanding rights, how dare they? I know of many people who have become citizens legally, spending their money and in many cases more than a few years to become citizens of the USA. I am tired of the USA having to print signs, documents, voting ballots, etc., in languages other than English, because we have not taken the time to make English the legal language of this country. I am tired of having to "press one for English". I am tired of paying for the medical care (my health insurance, by the way, costs me $850 a month, for me, one widow; this does not include the medications I must pay for - I am a cancer survivor and the meds I take are lifetime maintenance drugs) free school lunches and breakfasts for children who are here ILLEGALLY, hospital care, the fact that my car insurance is probably higher because of so many driving ILLEGALLY, WITHOUT CAR INSURANCE, ETC. ETC. I am very, very tired of the overcrowding in schools and the stress put on our country to educate these ILLEGAL people. I support anyone who enters our country and goes through the process legally, to become a US citizen. I DO NOT SUPPORT immediate citizenship for anyone, other than situations involving political persecution from their homeland. When anyone crosses our borders to give birth to a child, believing they will be granted the right to stay in the US, this is WRONG. I totally support the Arizona law and would hope other states would follow. How would a US citizen be treated, if we could not present a passport at immigration when returning for another country, say for example, China, Malaysia, Korea, Russia, Mexico, Bulgaria, etc.? I kinda' think that person might have a little problem returning home? Remember what happened when two women entered Northern Korea? I could probably continue, but I believe by now, my sentiments are obvious.

YES, it is this a necessary step towards securing our borders!
Can anybody tell me why anybody should be "stupid enough" to jump through all the [practically and legally necessary] INS hoops and pay thousands of US Dollars on top, when entering your host country in violation of its laws actually as a matter of facts improves your status?
And: How does the so-called Homeland Security Department filter the "good" Mexicans from the bad Al-Qaeda guys crossing the border?
Or would you say that - quoting Mrs. Napoletano - that those are "unfair" questions?

I am not for this bill, but I think Arizona is desperate and our Federal Government has failed in enforcing our immigration laws. Congress has kept its head in the sand (to prevent political suicide) and states like Arizona, New Mexico, California, Texas etc are being penalized because of their location and the ineptness of our representatives.

I am for immigrants who are willing to come to American, learn our culture, and work hard. I am not for immigrants who come here to take advantage of our lenient benefits and live at the expense of our taxpayers.

The people thjat are opposing this law are UN-AMERICAN!We also need to stop allowing children of illegals born in this country from having automatic citizenship.
