Terrible is not a strong enough word to describe the customer service at Neiman Marcus. I have been a loyal customer of Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Horchow for years now and I am so appalled with the ordeal that I just went through with them... I had ordered a pair of Prada shoes from BergdorfGoodman.com and returned them because of a manufacturing defect. I would have been happy to have them swapped out for another pair of the same shoes, a refund or even just a credit. I got NOTHING. Neiman Marcus, the parent company, rejected my return claiming that the damage was due to wear and tear - mind you that I've only worn them twice. After months (yes, months!) of unreturned phone calls, I finally contacted Prada. The client services gentleman at Prada was so gracious and could not believe the ordeal I just went through with the Neiman Marcus group. Prada tried to contact them to investigate the situation and got no where. On the same day that I contacted Prada, they took immedia... Read more

surely the most overrated store on earth... I have yet to try on a pair of shoes from their ever-present sale shelves and have anybody 1) wait on me promptly or 2) be able to find its mate even the signage in the elevator is spelled wrong (they can't afford a Webster's dictionary at these prices?) and that catalog is trapped like a bad issue of W magazine from the late 1990s

Some of the salespeople are obnoxious and annoying but Eli in handbags on the first floor is one of the sweetest, most genuine and most knowledgeable (NOT pushy either) salespeople I have EVER worked with. This store also has the best shoe department in the city if you ask me - and they ALWAYS have sizes and great sales at the end of season. Coats are definitely lacking and 5th floor has a lot of useless salespeople but there's a girl named Zora who's very attentive.

The greatest thing about this place is despite the high prices they treat their customers well and provide them with information on sales on a reular basis. I've got mailings from them that alerted me to some sales that saved me almost half of my luxury purchases! This is decadant but worth every extra penny. Live a little!

Bergdorf Goodman is possibly the BEST department store in the world. Yes, it's expensive but they choose the best of the best from luxury high fashion to put in their store. The jewelry and watches will dazzle you. The handbags are incredible! They have the best ready-to-wear from Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu, Stella McCartney, etc... just to name a few! If those designers price tags (in the thousands$$) are too much for you- check out their famous 5th floor- legend for more afforable yet still super lux contemporary wear- think: $250 jeans, $300 dresses and great sales!!! ENJOY EVERYONE! This store is A+++

The Scene What this tall, slim store lacks in size, it makes up for in poshness and intricate presentation. Each floor sends you in circles where you do lap after lap, marveling at how people spend their dough. It's pricey and items are arranged with immaculate attention to detail: i.e., by color, texture and country of origin on the housewares floor. The Goods All the top luxury designers are here, each with their own little branded area. But what's more, Bergdorf has an incomparable fine jewelry selection, an antiques gallery, gourmet foods, personalized stationery and a name that means you've made it. Not to mention an optical shop, florist, fur salon, John Barrett Salon, Susan Ciminelli Day Spa and opulent store credit card awards. There's also a small, stunning eveningwear collection on the fourth floor.

This department store really does have a great selection of top of the line clothing and really cute things and a wide variety of cosmetics and such, but it is just too expensive for my taste, but I definitely enjoy looking around.

Everytime I go to Bergdorf's I ask myself what was I thinking? It's not that the clothing or shoes aren't fabulous, it's just the arrogant customer service. They seem concerned when I'm purchasing a $3000 bag, but when I go there in my jogging gear and beat up sneakers after my pilates class, I am treated like a shoplifter. I can't stand the fakeness. I value service. Good service should not be determined by class, color or appearance, but should be like liberty and justice, guaranteed to all! Management needs to set a better example. In addition, the skin care department doesn't know anything about the products they are recommending which makes them look pretty stupid.

Took my neice who is here on a business trip from CA into the city yesterday to shop at Bergdorf and she got so excited seeing the window displays in front of the store that I stopped to enjoy them as well. Sometimes when rushing in and out to pick up something you don't notice how wonderful the displays are. they are a work of art in themselves. Then we were greeted by such friendly staff inside, my neice was overwhelmed by the selection there. Overall a wonderful shoppping experience.

What can I say? Best beauty level in the city, most amazing sales and couldn't live without having a Gotham Salad at least once a month!

I LOVE this store. Not only is the selection and merchandise absolutely fabulous, but the customer service is impeccable. Whether you are spending $100 or $10,000, the staff at Bergdorf's will treat you wonderfully. The return policy is great as well. The only drawback is, of course, the prices - but for this type of quality and merchandise it is to be expected.

I've never had a bad experience at Bergdorf's - the staff are friendly and helpful, and the selection of merchandise is the finest that money can buy. Of course, that means that a lot of things there are VERY expensive. Imagine the top 25% of a typical Neiman's or Saks store, expanded to fill up two buildings. Strangely, the stemware I nearly bought at Macy's was $5 less at Bergdorf's! An elegant environment and doting service for a lower price!

Overall this store has little appeal to me, with unhip hip clothing and poor service. I was looking for a new cologne and stumbled into the cologne section. When the sales person asked me to smell a scent i did and told him that i didnt enjoy it. He informed me that i didnt enjoy it because i was untrained and that since he worked at the store and "did this for a living" he knew what was best and i should buy that cologne regardless.....what a place

I really wanted to like this store, but unfortunately their service left a lot to be desired. I wanted to try on a bracelet on the first floor and had to wait quite a while before anybody would help me. When an associate did finally come over she pretty much took the bracelet out and threw it on the counter at me. Horrible attitude. Downstairs in the cosmetics dept. the ladies were a bit pushy. Overall a letdown. You're better off at Barneys.

I've gone to all the other hip nail salons (Rescue, Jin Soon, Acqua) but Buff Spa (the name of the nail salon at Bergdorf) is the top of the line. Be prepared to drop at LEAST $60 on a pedicure. My fabulous pedicure lasted me a loooong time though, and looked fantastic.

The staff was unpretentious and always smiling, offering to help in any way. Even though I was just a browser for the day, I enjoyed my trip. However, I did find that the Mac staff was extremely pushy and was offended at "fat people" comments made by a saleswoman to a very thin and wealthy (buying) customer in the Marc Jacobs boutique. That aside, I highly recommend this store to any visitor.

Very friendly and helpful sales on the cosmetics floor. Would be perfect if they have more salon type services like those in Bloomingdale's.

Bergdorf Goodman is such a wonderful department store that I feel it's hard for any others to compete. The selection of goods is upscale and expensive, but if this is what you like, then this is where you should shop. The building is beautiful as is the inside. The cafe On Five is delicious and the gotham salad is the thing to get. The sales people are courteous and helpful and the merchandise is always orderly and clean. The new shoe dept and the beauty floor are some of the best in the city!

I had a shampoo and set by Zack one afternoon and was told all weekend that my hair looked great. I never had to comb it once the entire weekend. Needless to say, I hated having to wash it four days later because it would never look that good again. Call for Zack when in NYC at BG if you want your hair to look fantastic. WHo cares about the cost. It was expensive but worth it.

That this men's emporium carried quality, up-to-date it unquestionable; prices, however, can bring you to your knees. I don't know who shops here. They likely arrive in a chauffered limo.
