ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ARE GOLD-ALL TRUE! THE FOLKS WHO USED THE AGENCY FOR SHORT-TERM STEPPING-STONE---WE UNDERSTAND! BUT THIS AGENCY NEEDS TO BE VANQUISHED FROM THE UNITED STATES-THEY ABSORBED DISHONEST AGENCIES AND ALLOWED THE FRAUD, MEANNESS AND DECEPTION TO CONTINUE---THEY ARE NOT PROVIDING A STRESS-FREE WORKPLACE, OR REAL SECURITY, OR A DEVELOPING CAREER. THROW THEM OUT-BOYCOTT THEIR CLIENTS, AND SPEAK OUT AGAINST THEM! ALL FORMER LONG-TERM GUARDS SUPPORT YOU-HANDS DOWN! ALLIED/BARTON AND WACKENHUT ARE ALSO ABUSERS-AND SEEM TO RUIN GUARD'S ABILITIES TO WORK IN CAREERS AND ALLOW GOD-AWFUL WORK ETHICS! THE CLIENTS ARE OFTEN CORRUPT AND JACK-DOWN ON THE GUARDS BECAUSE THEY ARE WISE TO THE CRAP! AND,OF COURSE, THEY DON'T PAT A LIVABLE WAGE!

Securitas is the worst security agency you can possibly work for, I used them only as a means to complete school. However, when I started with them I was told about week later that the position was temporary but would in fact would become permanent due to the fact that a pending large contracting project with Halliburton would develop. I was the best employee you could possibly be, I followed my post orders to the letter and I never once reported late, I never complained about anything. There was an older black female loading dock sargeant who would actually cursed out anybody that made her mad, especially contractors. She would boast about being with Securitas for over twenty years (over twenty years and only made about $12 to $13 phr.) she would plot on who she would like to see fired next and use her twenty year clout to make it happen. Behind the white employees back she would say ugly things about their race and about them. There were two other sargeants and she would comment on how much she couldn't stand them. If a security officer would make a very, very, minor mistake she would call them "stupid" and express how she plans to get rid of them. The captain of the site was very aware of her behavior, but she even scared him and so he acted as if he didn't notice anything and allowed her to continue her ignorant behavior. After my asssignment was completed I was called into the office by the captain and was told that they had to let me go because my position was temporary and they had nothing left for me to do. I asked about his earlier promise that my job would be permanent after the assignment. His only answer was that I was a good employee and he wished that he could keep me but he just couldn't. He instructed me to return to the main office and re-apply and for sure I would receive another assignment somewhere else in the city of Houston. I went there and spoke with a very arrogant and incompetant Field Manager named Daniel, instead of him helping me he treated me as if I did something terribly wrong. He spoke to me like a child, mind you I am 57 years old. As a result I found other employment not related to security with better pay and much better management. I believe that this lady (let's call her Nancy) at the loading dock had something to do with it all, although I never did anything to her I believe she gets her kicks at bringing people down, she is a big hypocrite because tells people that she is Christian but plays the lottery every morning and curses like a sailor all day long. She is a very illiterate individual and it makes her feel important to try and ruin somebody just for the hell of it. Anyone thinking about a security job especially in Houston, do not apply at Securitas Security Services. There are some very reputable security companies like Allied-Barton or Pinnacle Security; stay away from Securitas at all cost eventhough they are well-known, they are the cheapest most low-class employer in town, and it is hard to understand how they stay in business. I guess they continue to hire anyone hard-up for a job and in this time of recession they have a lot of candidates.

I HAVE WRITTEN EXTENSIVELY ABOUT OLD SECURITAS SECURITY-I WAS A BIG PRODUCER AS SUPERVISOR, DISPATCHER, AND INSIDER WITH WELLS FARGO-BURNS-PINKERTON-BEFORE SECURITAS DECIDED TO KILL OFF THESE COMPETITIVE SMALLER AGENCIES, AND TRIED TO FOLLOW THE WACKENHUT SPOOKS INTO INFAMY AND CORRUPTION. THEY FOOL NO ONE-AND HARM EVERYONE. ALL THESE AGENCIES NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN BY NON-PARTICIPATION, STRIKE, AND UNION MEMBERS TAKING COMMAND OF THE RANK-AND-FILE IN THE INDUSTRY. EVEN FOR PART-TIME JOBS---NEEDS TO BE STRESS-FREE, WELL TRAINED, AND A HAPPY PLACE TO WORK. WE OLD TIME GUARDS WANT THESE AGENCIES "DEAD-AND-GONE". ALONG WITH THEIR HAPLESS AND MEAN-SPIRITED AND ARROGANT MIDDLE-MANAGERS! THE CLIENTS NEED TO PAY THE PRICE WE DICTATE, AFTER OUT EXPANDED TRAINING, AND KEEP OUT OF OUR BUSINESS---QUIT SABATOGING GUARDS WITH ANONYMOUS TIPS TO "WEASELING LITTLE OFFICE MANAGERS" WHO STUFF FILES AND THEN "WHISTLE AND ROLL THEIR EYEBALLS" IN THEIR PATHETIC EMPTY HEADS! IF IT DON'T COMPRIMISE THEIR PAYCHECK---THEY LOVE TO CAUSE PROBLEMS----AND WE AIM TO MAKE THOSE PROBLEMS COME HOME TO ROOST IN THEIR HEN-HOUSE. UNIONS----HELL Y-E-S---LONG OVERDUE! YOUR REPRESENTATIVE GROUP-NOT SOME NATIONAL GROUP. STRIKE THE AGENCIES---YES, BUT DO IT ON JOINT CONTRACTS LIKE TRANSPORTATION ONES WHERE YOU GET THE VARIOUS GUARD AGENCIES TO BACK YOU AND WALK OUT ALL TOGETHER. THAT PINCH, MAKES NO WIGGLE-ROOM FOR THE CORPORATE "SWINGING-DICKS:, AND THEY WILL PANIC AND CAVE IN! (THERE IS NO GREAT ALTERNATE POOL OF GUARDS TO SCAB-OVER IN THIS JOB---THEY BEG FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE! IN THAT LARGE A WALK-OUT, YOU WOULD WIN---IN SPADES! SO, DON'T EAT THEIR CRAP---AND DON'T BELIEVE THEIR THREATS----WHO THEY GONNA CALL IN---WACKENHUT WITH BAZOOKAS?????!( THEY TRIED THAT---DIDN'T WORK! ) KEEP SWEATIN' THEM---HELL IS ONLY HALF FULL.........!!!STRIKE IS YOUR TOOL--USE IT WELL-GIVE THEM HELL!

Some interesting comments here and yes, some don't understand how the system works.
If you look at the economy, you will understand why we get paid so little. They charge for the branch office, insurance, etc. but if the client does not want to pay $20/hr for a guard, he does not pay it.

I believe, from some of the comments I've read here that there are some good branches and good people working for Securitas, I believe Ontario, CA is one as I've met some of the guards and they don't seem to have any complaints.

However, the Temecula, CA branch is a bad as any I've read about here. You have a scheduler (Nicole), who can't come up with a workable schedule after 3 trys and it's 10:30PM Thursday night. It is your responsibility to call in and find out your schedule, 4 times a night if necessary. Someone mentioned only one uniform for a month, trust me, it gets worse.

Call offs are a problem there, at least 2 per week so there is plenty of time and a half pay if you want it. Lot's of back stabbing and the typical double standard found in many jobs.
Shift Supervisors have no backing and take the heat for the mistakes of the Client Manager,(and there are a lot of them), or the branch.

I knew going into private security that I was going to be the lowest of the low, but to have the client tell me that there were 9 people waiting for my job was a real eye opener.

Securitas is the largest Private Security company because they have bought out many of the others, that does not mean they are the best. It is unfortunate that they have such poor management as the work is pretty easy and worth the pay you get. Just not worth the crap that goes with it. I'll stay here while I wait for the economy to turn around, then I'll find a job where I'm treated like a valued employee and leave with no notice.

Securitas Canada was the WORSE company I EVER worked for!!!
I am a Police Technologies graduate and have allot of experience working for the Government, but wanted to get closer to my area of study. When I went in for the interview, the "Guy" was very impressed with me and said he could place right from the start as a site supervisor. BUT first I had to complete their 2 WEEKS -NOT PAID- training. I hesitated, but thought, it could be an investment. That was just the beginning.
He told me I had to pay 80$$ for my Guard Licence, and that on every paycheck, Securitas would pay it back. Then, the licence was sent to SECURITAS and not me. Securitas claims to not have recieved it and I have to pay another 10$$ for a replacement.
He tells me: "Would you work for 12$ an hour??" I said, ok, if there will be increases.
The uniform was supposed to be no-cost for us.
I go through 2 weeks of training. No money. Then finally after 4 weeks of waiting for my licence(because of the replacement), it comes in. Securitas sends me to a different site then they had originally told me.

NOW, FIRST: I find out it is not a supervisor position at all, and it's NOT 12$ an Hour, IT's 10$!! - They say: Sorry, that's what it is.
SECOND: I ask for 30 Minutes at the complete end of my shift for a doctor's appointment, THEY tell me to take ONE WHOLE UNPAID DAY.
THIRD: I get my PAYCHECK and They have DEDUCTED all these things that they never told they would!:
LICENCE! : 12$$ - They tell me it's an administration Fee!!! After I paid 90$$ from my own pocket!
HUMANITY: 0.72$ - I stilll dont know what this is!
UNIFORMS: 35.00$$$ - They call it a DryCleaning Fee!! I never had the uniform drycleaned!
UNION DUES: 12.45$ - You only start your benefits and Union after 3 months!! I was with them 1 week!!
AND, INITIAL FEES: 10.00$$$ - wHAT THE Heck??

I QUIT THEM IMMEDIATELY.

DO NOT WORK FOR SECURITAS, THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE AND WILL MISINFORM YOU AND ROB YOU. THEY ARE A BADDD COMPANY. THEY JUST WANT TO HIRE AS MANY DUMB PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE AND PAY THEM PEANUTS.
DON'T WORK FOR SECURITAS!!!

I worked for Securitas for about 6 months. The job was a God send to me. I was out of cash and not able to find a job in my profession. I really was down to almost zero dollars and was on the verge of getting kicked out of my apartment. The people in the main office were always friendly and professional. I kept track of my hours carefully and there were always minor problems which they took care of right away. They gave me all the hours I could take, which was great. Sometime 60 to 76 hours a week. I needed the money.

Many of the people complaining here do not realize that the first few months will always be tough.
It's the nature of the job. This is industry flooded with non-skilled people who believe that everything wrong in their life is because of their job. My suggestion is seek a job else where. If you stay with Securitas and develop a reputation for not being a cry baby, do your job well, be on time always and be polite, Securitas will reward you with higher pay and more opportunities.

The worst of it was having to deal with community that worked in. A gated upscale residential development in northern California. I found many of these people to be polite, friendly and open. On the other hand, some of the worst personalities that I have ever encountered were these people. You always tend to remember the worst people rather than the friendliest.

All security jobs do not pay well. That is the norm. They pay a wage that is acceptable by law.
But let's face it. You have a choice to go work some where else if you are not happy.

Otherwise, if you want the big bucks, I suggest you play the lottery rather than complain about your security job.

Seuritas is the worst company in the World. I worked for them for along time. I have seen sexual Harrasment peoples coffee being pee into. other security officer stealing other guards Flashlight and hancuffs. No breaks and equipment falling apart. There bike patrols have no breaks. Though they just lost a classaction Lawsuit in California for 15 Million and know there is another class action lawsuit in Ohio and in New York

They call you, and force you to be in a store, after 40 minutes, 25 miles away, only to cover 4-hour shift, because the dam guard failed to show up. If you refuse to go, you go on the back of the list. That means to be lucky to get 55 hours per week pay. OK, you arrive there, report for duty, and after 5 minutes the Dam Guard is showing up. After a short conversation the Securitas Supervisor tell you GO HOME, no pay. You spent one-hour drive, with your car, pay for gasoline, for amortization of you car, and they give you nothing. Next day you go to your site, and people of client looks at you in a strange way like you are coming from Andromeda Galaxy. The reason is the Securitas lost this assignment and failed to notify you. Now you have no more hours and prepare to file for unemployment benefits. No, they promise you to give hours. How. You must stay at home near the phone 24/7 to wait for a call that may give you 4, 6 or 8 hours. Now they are using you as a prostitute, to patch up holes created from other dam guards that failed to report for duty, and more …
Working for Securitas Services, means to be in a DEAD END, one step close to be HOMLES. The company knows that, and treats people accordingly. They can terminate you at any time, without a prior notice, and exploit you at the point that you quit. THEIR STRATEGY IS HIRE, AND FIRE. They are HIRING continuously because they are TERMINATING people continuously. Most of their employee are desperate people, not able to find another job. 90 % are illiterate and most of them ignorant. IF you decide to work for Securitas, that is your choice. There is only one explanation for their low pay. IF YOU PAY PEANUTS, YOU GET MONKEYS.

After reading some of the very colorful reviews here, I would have to say a couple of things... First let me say I was a supervisor for Securitas and that I was put at a post that was failing quickly. Inside of a few months, the post had turned around and the client was happy with the company again... Now for the other stuff...

1st) I totally agree that Securitas is terrible as an employer. They do focus on a single mistake more than on the overall performace of an employee. They tie the hands of their supervisors and then hold the supervisor responsible when things fall apart. The management over the supervisors at the sites don't support their supervisors, thus making it seem more so like the supervisor is the one at fault.

2nd) It is understandable that people will be upset and want to speak in no uncertain terms about the company, but I would urge all of you to try to remain professional and make your point without using extreme profanity. People will often miss your point if all they see is one continous rant about F- this and F- that and F- them.

3rd) You need to understand that Securitas is a Sweedish owned company. That means that they don't have the same ideals that US ran businesses do. What they do in the US is what they have to do by US labor laws.

Worst company I have worked for in 25 years in the work force. It is rated as one of Canada's worst employers. BEWARE. Such high turnover and awful pay that they will hire anyone, you will be left on site working upto 20+ hours some shifts because your replacement quit suddenly or called in sick last minute. I am utterly impressed they have not gone out of business in Canada. I wish there was a negative rating.

I am working for Securitas and I don't have many complaints but those that I have are not small. Is it too much to ask to be paid on time? Or to get paid for every hour I work without having to wait for weeks for them to fix the problem? Or not to have to wait 6 months for vacation check? I work long hours without complaint. I cover when ever they need me to with no problem. But when I tell my manager that I am getting evicted because I can never pay my rent on time do I deserve "that's not my problem, I don't do that."? And when you call for problem to be fixed they are throwing blame around. Well I DON'T CARE WHO MADE MISTAKE, JUST GIVE ME MY MONEY!!!"
Never had any other problems, but I am looking for another job.

Securitas is an alright company. I've been working with them for a few months now as a FLEX OFFICER, and I gotta admit it's ok. All the people that complain about every little thing needs to get out of the Security business and work flipping burgers. It's hard enough to work with negative people, and people that complain because they have to do stupid shit makes it hard for us who actually wanna do our job. I like the company, but don't get me wrong, they do some bogus shit, but welcome to the real world! If you can't handle the way the real world treats you, then you need to get the fuck out. Security is not supposed to be a downhill ride. I hope that I never have to work with negative officers because I won't put up with any of the shit, if you don't like it then leave. Your supervisors are not your parents and shouldn't have to wipe your ass everytime you shit. Just do your job, put on a fake smile if you have to, but don't complain because it always gets you nowhere!!

I lasted just over a month at the Cargill site in Blair, NE.

Uniforms:
I went a month with one (a single) pair of uniform pants and only two short sleeve shirts. We could only wear the long sleeve "under-turtleneck" piece with long sleeve shirts. After a quick meeting with the site manager three weeks into employment he asked about my uniform status, and I told him (again) only two short sleeved shirts... Well, a week later he asked "why are you not wearing the turtleneck"? I reminded him of my uniform status, again. "oh". Well, long story, but they want you to wear a proper uniform whether or not they are having issues with the uniform supply company!

The training, that Securitas is so proud of:
When a supervisor was not too busy chasing his own tail due to personnel shortages, he would take a few minutes to train. The coworkers would help out, but everyone is busy doing the menial yet busy work that Cargill should be doing for themselves but has been successful in pawning off to the security company... It took over four weeks to get a tour of the facility I was trying to answer questions from visitors about!

I stood in the rain, stomped through the mud puddles and put up with a lack of training at a hyper-busy post for $10.00/hr with a single pair of uniform pants. Oh, no effective self defense tools allowed, at least, not legally! ;-)

Thank heaven I obtained employment now with an organization that not only writes about how good the training is, but provides it as well. Uniforms? No, just good ol' fashion business casual and not a mud puddle in sight and making nearly twice per hour that what Securitas paid.

Thank you Securitas, for giving me a true appreciation for my current employment. When I find myself taking my job for granted or think I'm having a bad day, I just revisit my time with you and suddenly I am feeling good about my current situation again!

I've never seen a more disorganized piece of shitttt organization! They hire on new duchebag employees...give them weekends off...then take weekends away from all the long term deserving and reliable workers. They dick around your work days and FORCE you to work against your will on your days off....by threatening automatic termination. They even make you sign a paper stating you're required to call back within 4 hours on your days off or you get a write up. You also sign that you must work at least 1 day off a month or they can fire you and it covers their ass from paying you any unemployment for not working your day off. Hope you never want to leave town or make plans on your day off again...cause it's not fucking possible without getting fired!!!! I wish their headquarters would disappear off the face of the planet. What a fucking joke!

I too could write books about how bad this company is. I worked at a post in Marysville, OH (Goodyear) as the site supervisor for about a year. When hired in, Goodyear was on strike and I and my team worked during and after the strike. We did a great job and the client loved us. Unfortunately, Glenn Muhler who was the area manager for Securitas was the biggest liar you'd ever meet. He tells you there would be "roving supervisors" who would "gladly" come in to relieve you if you were stuck after a double and there was a "no-show". Not one single time after perhaps 100 requests did we ever have a "roving supervisor"- not once. I agree that bigger is not better concerning security. Let's review the history of this company- they have not been around for the 100 or so years- that was Pinkerton and they bought out Pinkerton. They bought out Burns Security and they bought out a lot of other smaller companies that were struggling. They kept growing and growing, but failed to have the management or administrative infrastructure also keep pace with their growth. The middle managers were sort of stuck with "making do" by the corporate boys dealing with paperwork, hiring, and assimilating the various companies and employees that chose to stay on. This does not in any way excuse these middle managers. Instead of showing some balls and professionalism and demanding that they be equipped with the tools to actually properly manage and refusing to cut corners and lie and promise things they know will never happen- they choose collectively to do just that. I am sure there were some managers at least at the beginning that wanted to have things organized and ran properly, but I am sure they left or were terminated to make way for middle managers who would just be "yes men" to corporate. A few years later, and you have a lot of unskilled and unprofessional middle "managers" who have made a career out of covering their asses and nothing else. I left because I had a chronically late employee be given one more chance to be on time or he would be fired. I agreed with the written reprimand and this employee clearly knew he'd blown one too many times. With that said, the very next week some punk kid shows up claiming to be replacing the late employee because he was fired. Well, no one told the first employee because he also showed up ON TIME ready to work (he hadn't been late since his warning). I called Glenn and he ducked my calls and then the HR dunce gets an attitude with me and says to just send the guard home because he was indeed fired. I refused because that was not the deal. A last chance is a last chance and I would honor it if I had to quit to do so, and that's what happened. I quit that day and sent the young punk guard home, and left the original guard at the post (he was fired later that night by Glenn). I may not have had a job, but I had my honor and word in tact. My guards I managed were in tears and Goodyear called me to come back because the post had gone to hell under the new site supervisor. I would under the condition that the guard be given his "last chance" as his reprimand said, but Securitas would not budge. I never went back. I have also found that a lot of the middle managers are ex or worse yet wannabe military or wanna be cops, etc. I have nothing against the military as my dad was in 2 wars and in the Air Force for over 20 years. I do have a problem with people too unskilled or too cowardly to join yet try to fill this void with their security position. You all know the people that I'm talking about. There is very little you can do with these people. They are desperately clinging to their jobs because that is all they have left. Security as it stands right now is an awful job filled with disrespect from all sides, and very low pay. Those of you demanding unions don't understand a union. All they will do is take more of your money. They are a business unto themselves and do not have the magic bullet to fix securitas or any other company. They had their place back in the Rockefeller days, but those are long gone. If you really like security- try your hardest to get on internal security and avoid contract security altogether.

Where do I start with this ass backwards organization? Upon my hiring, the man who interviewed me said that Securitas is the best security company in the world. That could not be further from the truth. Never have I had any job with such unorganized scheduling and lack of teamwork. I have only been working for two months and have bent over backwards to meet with the satisfaction of my superiors and I have gotten nothing in return. I don't mind coming in early and staying late when I'm asked to. That's not so bad, but when I myself say "Hey can I possibly switch with someone because I have plans later that night" or "Hey I need this day off because I am totally swamped with other events in my life" They agree and what do they do, they put me on the day(s) I request off! Not to mention our new schedule is not posted until a day before the new schedule begins! There was more efficiency when I worked at McDonald's in high school and THIS is the best Security company in the world?! Bullcrap! Not to mention the rotation I'm put on. One day night shift, next day, morning shift and next day afternoon shift. Gee, my body can thank you for lack of proper sleep. I'm not a machine, I need time to rest and I have a life. The only reason I'm still with this job is because of how bad the economy is and $9 an hour is slowly dwindling in keeping my head above the water. I demand a higher starting pay now!

Ive been working for securitas for just over a year now in texas. Ive never had a single problem with them. ive been at the same site. and now im about to become the site manager which will jump me up to 15 from 10 its a big jump. i get a 48 hour a week shift because i asked for it. the current site supervisor oks everything with me before he does anything. the staff at my main office is great, friendly, and super responsive. one om my good friends is a feild supervisor here and has been for a while. i do admit from time to time i pull ridiculous hours but they always make sure i want to work it before i do. honestly everyone whos putting one stars are probably people who got a bad office or people who really dont want to work in the first place. lets put it this way. i worked a 12 hour shift the other day because i wanted some more overtime. i nodded off a little while on duty. oops it happens. and thats exactly what the site owner said. he was very understanding and even went out to buy me a redbull. theyre always feeding the gaurds BBQ, PIZZA, ICE CREAm and whatever else they have. never have i been with a company i enjoyed more then. Securitas. and ive been with A LOT of companies.

I worked at Exxon Mobil, which is still one of their biggest accounts in southern california. I know for a fact they pay $20 per guard and we only see half of it. That place sucked. For awhile I had to stay in a sh*tty little shack checking contractors' badges and searching their bags. They placed me and two other guards in a hell hole. I worked the first shift 4am - 12pm and it would be freezing cold in the morning! freezing cold to the point where your toes were frozen! The shack had a heater, but guess what, NO ELECTRICITY! I felt unsafe. I had to be there 8 and 12 hours a day! The area was so dirty and hazardous to your health because of all the dust that was kicked up by the employees who were leaving for work. I couldn't even use the bathroom-excuse me, porter potty- when I wanted to! Calling for a 10-100 on the radio was a nightmare! My supervisor even barked at me for requested too many rest room breaks! All the upper management gets away with everything!!!

Don't work for them and don't even think you can get unemployment from them. Unemployment, what's that??? They'll make your life a living hell and MAKE you quit.

I worked for Securitas for about 3 years.I never received pay raise in that time. The insurance benefits they offer are a joke. It is not worth having. I was on a site close to my house and the work was not hard at first.During this time I had six different supervisors and each one found more and more duties for the guards to do.It became outrageous.Any complaint to management went unresolved. I could have taken the supervisor positon ,but I wanted to remain part time. Then the last supervisor changed the hours to acccomodate her day care problem.Instead of working 8-4 4-12 and 12-8,we were now working 4am to 12 noon,12 noon to 8pm and 8pm to 4am.This second shift was the worst .You had no time during the day or evening.Holidays were impossible. She also pushed ALL the busy hours on the guards and came to work and did nothing except sleep.I caught her sleeping on at least two different occasions. She was always late, but would change payroll to make sure she had a full check. When she was late, she"d say dont worry I'll come in early tomorrow to make it up to you. This never happened. She even had her child sleeping on the floor of the office in a sleeping bag. The last straw was news year eve of this year, one of the guards called me to let me know that we would now be doing production work for the factory that we provided security for. They had brought down skids of items that needed to be counted ,sorted, and bagged, boxed up labled and returned to the production area.We were given a quota.I contacted the main office and ask if they had authorized this, they confirmed they had.I told them I would not comply,I would do secuity work ,but nothing else.I was told to stop making a big deal out of nothing and to go to work and comply.I took great pleasure in telling those jerks that I would not be back.I turned in my uniforms and I am glad. The supervisor got stranded there, probably with her kid in the office. Securitas is a lousy company, they do not care about their employees as is evident by the huge turnover they have. Their management is a joke. This company is great if you want to make no money,be used up on hours or have no hours.Have no insurance benefits and be treated like your nothing.I would not tell a trained monkey to work there, but in most cases the monkey would be more capable than the management.

I am applying for Securitas right now. I have to agree with NickyJames, actually. If such a large organization were so poor at working with its employees, then it would have collapsed a long time ago. For now I will state five stars, and reapply a review after I work there three months.

This is the thing. It's simple Business. A company like securitas cannot be around for as long as it has without being a good or at least decent company. All the other jack offs here are either terrible workers that get passed up for promotions and are angry about it or just sleep at thier posts. or maybe they are disgruntled ex-employees who are just mad because they got caught sucking at thier job. Securitas is the largest security sevice firm in the world. does that make sense. it should. securitas offers scholarships, school reimbursment, GED assistance and contributes hundreds of thousands of dollars to their local communites every year. Not to say that their arent ass holes and mean people working there. But when you review this, you are reviewing securtas as a company or corperation. these people are simply disgruntled. I have worked for sec uritas for a very long time and have had nothing but good experiences with them. thats the bottom line, now let the angry comments roll in.

They have a Union but it's a weak one here in Michigan.  They have a rule that you can't be forced over on your shift 3 times in a row.  Well I was forced over 3 times in a row twice.
The problem with Unions is the Management will do whatever to make your life miserable.

I have never seen a group of people so large and so terrible get any job done together. This is achieved mostly by lying to them, every day, until they quit, and then lying to them more.

I could write pages of individual experiences. You won't read it all, I can guarantee that, so let's stick to what I have learned. The management, the guards, they are almost all the same. Passive-aggressive manipulating power-tripping control freaks who only work their job so they can continue to micro-manage people who work three times as hard as they do. They never admit thier mistakes, all the people who work in the office are gossips. They could easily contain their personality flaws long enough to get the job done each day without lashing out at everyone they can get away with mistreating, but always manage to say what is necessary to let you know you are being fucked with - BY A STRANGER who knows only what the gossips tell them THE MINUTE after you do ANYTHING wrong - but never what you are asking for. These are depressed losers who are interested in extracting anger and hate from you to juxtapose their smug self-pity.
Again recall I have pages of experiences with these folks and really, I could have said all of this so long ago but I can be sure now and need to get it all off my chest. THEY WILL NOT treat you like a human being unless you work like a DOG. Think about what kind of person would work under this treatment. They really hate anyone who doesn't hate life as much as they do.

I have been lied to by COMMs officers, thier bosses, and thier bosses more times than I can count, week after week, treated as badly as the smug fucks obviously want us to think they feel. There is no reason for anyone to talk to me like that when I have helped every person I've seen all day (by the way, average people will treat you like shit too, when you are a guard. You're a saint at the bank, but at the same lefty's school, you're a fascist.)

You can do so much better, don't take this crap, they know you are out there and already think you are a putz, this whole company is just shit rolling downhill. And by the way this is coing out of Halifax, NS Canada so don't think it's any different where you are out there, I see it's not.

Securitas should change their name to SECURITEMP as they hire virtually anyone, and everyone,BUT,they hardly have any full time, permanent posts! Oh gee..um..you say you want a "FULL" 40 hour "PERMANENT" schedule?..well..um DUUHHH,I "THINK" we may have a tentative, temporary part time position comming up!LOL! Hey,wait a minute,..what's that?..we can give you 20 hours, and then "FLOAT" you for the other 20 hours MAYBE??.Oh,please excuse the fact that we're still NOT going to pay you accurately,or on time! RE-GOD-DAMN-DICULOUS is the only way to describe Securitas! Oh,I forgot,if you don't complain, and do a good job,you can win a "BRAND NEW CAR!!..please insert that Roddy announcer fella's voice from the price is right show!lol" What they should say is that for the "OUTSTANDING" employee of the year, you can win a "FULL TIME SCHEDULE".I swear,I've never REGRETTED filling out a job application more than I have with Securitas!

I DON'T KNOW WHY IS IT, THAT IF SECURITAS IS SUCH A BIG COMPANY....THEY CANT TREAT THEIR EMPLOYEES GOOD...ALL OF MANAGEMENT ARE FULL OF SHIT AND LIARS. I HAD THE 6A TO 2P SCHEDULE AND MY SCHEDULER CALL ME 1 MORNING ASKING ME OF I WOULD LIKE TO BE BACK OU LEAD OFR GRAVE YARDS. WITHOUT EVEN THINKING ABOUT I I SAID YES. BUT BEFORE HANGING UP HE TELL ME DONT TELL ANY 1 UNTIL U MOVE. I WAS VERY SUSPICIOUS ABOUT HE WOULD TELL ME THAT SO THE NEXT MORNING I SPOKE TO THE SITE SUPERVISOR AND ASKED HIM WHAT WAS GOING ON AND HE ONLY SAID DNT WORRY ABOUT IT IT'S ALL BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. MY CO-WORKERS KEPT TELLING ME NOT TO GO AND THAT THEY WERE ONLY LIYING TO ME. SO I CALLED THE ACCOUNT MANANGER AND ASKED HIM IF IT WAS TRUE ABOUT THE POSSITION AND HE SAID " WELL IT IS BUT U HAVE TO EARN IT, WE NEE TO TLKT TO THE NITE LEAD TO SEE IF SHE WANTS U AS A BACK UP LEAD" SO I TOLD HIM I DNT WANT TO MOVE IF IT'S NOT FOR SURE AND HE TOLD ME WELL IT'S TO LATE NOW. BUT U GOT A WWEK OT FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO GO IF U DNT LIKEM THE CHANGE. NOT ONLY THAT BUT WITHING MINUTES OF ME SAYING TES THE HAD MY REMPLACEMENT. TO TOP IT ALL OF I WAS BEING REMPLACE BY A WHITE MALE.I WAS THE ONLY FEMALE AND HISPANIC ON THE MORNIG SHIFT. IM NOT RACIST BUT IT SEEMS LKE MANAGEMENT ONLY WHANTS WHITE MALES AND FEMALES ON THE GOO SHIFT AT LEAST THATS HOW MY OFFICE WORKS. I KNOW WE ALL HACE COMPLAINS ABOUT THIS COPANY BU UNLESS WE ALL GET TOGETHER AND DO SOMETHING TO CHANGE IT, IT'LL STAY LIKE THAT FOR MAY MORE YEARS TO COME. SECURITAS GET PAID GOOD $ FOR US AND STILL WE'RE GATTING PAID LESS THEN OTHER COMPANIES. THEIR SO UNGREATFUL AND FULL OF SHIT, THAT THEIR ONLY LOOKING AFTER THEMSELF.

Continued from below:

I thought that sounded great and to help him and the client out, I'd be glad to do what was needed. About a week and a half later another guard is sent out to the site who I train and one who actually wants to be there. After showing him the hotel procedures and other do's and don'ts, and training him over the course of the night, I go home. Phil calls me at 7 pm again asking if I'd be willing to return again one more night and to observe this new guy to make sure he has it all down pat. I said of course I would. After that we spoke about new job sites again and how he was looking for something that would work well for me. I told him I would be as flexible as I could be and work weekends on another site, 10s, 12s, whatever is needed. I returned back the following night and watched the new guard again. All went well. I went home thinking my supervisor was doing his best to find me a new post. I waited for a week and then called only to be told he was in a meeting. When I called again a couple of days later I was told the same. He would now not take my calls, return my calls or answer work emails on a new post. In essence I was let go without him telling me that I had been. And to think I had faith in this guy and genuinely thought he would keep his end of the bargain and honor his end of the agreement after I upheld mine. Once bitten, twice shy. If you get a good supervisor and/or client site you should be alright but with Securitas, the house, like a real casino, usually is the winner.

What happened, well they sent me somewhere high profile, I was having real trouble turning up on time, often arriving 8 to 10 minutes late for my shift, which caused the guy I was coming down to re-leave to get very angry, so one day I walked in the door and the guy had a right go at me and bundled me into a corner under a pile of flying fists and kicks.

Then when I called my Boss about it and threatened to quit, he came down to have a "Meeting!" sat in a chair and roared in my face "YOU WANTED THE JOB!"

How sympathetic, anyway, I got my transfer to somewhere a little more local, expected to turn up on time, but once again it was out in the sticks, no buses or transport to get there.

Then when I was working there one of the night shift officers, turns out he liked men, sat there and began insisting I should sit on his lap and give him a kiss and a cuddle.

Ever tried to run away from a 12 stone big guy who quote "likes you!"

Shortly after that I requested yet again another transfer, they started sending me all over the inner parts of the city of London, then had a raging go at me when I failed to turn up on time or neglected to turn up at all. I don't know how they expect people to even get to the job when they neglect to pay the staff half the time and you have to be a math wizard to read your pay-slip.

Had a complete nervous breakdown one day, seeing pink elephants and mumbling about hoodies smashing my face in, which had happened I had had my nose broken and a knock on the head does funny things to people, especially when they haven't slept well in days from leaving the house really early at around 4.30 to 5.30 am every morning arriving home at around 1.30 to 2.30 every night.

Not to mention the starvation of not being being able to eat coupled with the stress of not being able to pay my rent on time.

Then when I left I wrote them scathing email, full of profanity, wise? probably not, because this same firm have now sat there for the last 6 years slandering me very badly to any prospective employer that's called and asked for a reference, how do I know that? Well employers have had the good grace to ask before they've taken me under employment, once I explained the situation to them they have been sympathetic, this company might well scream he cant say all that it's in violation of his confidentiality clause but what a shame they don't have the common curtsy to remember that while a member of their own staff in management is sitting there slandering my every job application.

Tyrant, yes they are! I think we should all hold them to account over the fact they employ some of us in government funded work, then fail to pay us correctly or on time and unfortunatly for securitas that is a serious offence. I don't expect to pay TAXES on my income twice, thank you very much! Oh and I'm still unemplyed, homeless, jobless, pennyless. Its all the hard working people who are working for them that are paying my benefits. Do not put them on your CV.

Oh and go here http://www.ripoffreport.com/ and type in securitas and take a long hard look for yourself!

So I posted here about 2 1/2 years ago stating that overall the screening process and branch management could use a bit of help. With that I still agree and at least in my 'area' are working to correct the deficiencies. I am still happy with the company (4 1/2 years) and have been treated farily and respectfully. I started as a flex officer and worked, I mean worked my way into now managing 32 officers for a high profile client. Most officers that 'pass through' don't really understand contract security and what that acutally intails however the majority of my officers do understand and accept the profession that they have either chosen or are currently working in.

The thing that completly gets me is the officers that don't want to or complain about working crazy shifts... IT'S CONTRACT SECURITY... I have noticed that a lot of you on here have been 're-assigned' or terminated from the company... I would probably have harsh feelings too. Go get another security job and see if it treats you any better. Best of luch to all that work in the industry, it's a fight worth fighting to make the industry more of a profession...

I agree with almost everyone on this site.  Securitas SUCKS!!  They do promise you things that never happen, they lie, they treat you like crap.  Im from Ohio and worked out of the Hilliard branch.  I dont care who sees this, or anything.  My girlfriend was sick In the hospital Im doing 12 hour shifts.  I get a call the night before and Im nice and take care of it for like 2 weeks.  No I did not want to work 12 hours, but I did sometimes 13!!!  Anyways I did that then I get a call up for this job at Sams club checking people in and out making sure they aren't stealing anything from there.  I had to sit in this chair for 8 hours, or longer with nothing to do!!  This guys name was Byron Stuly never forget this guy the biggest ass hole! you will ever meet in your life!!  He was the boss there which was over me, and everyone else.  He had you sit in this chair for like I said 8 hours or more a steel chair, couldn't walk outside, and he even had to tell you when to use the restroom.  Talk about getting treated bad.  I was around there one day and I wanted to find him I was going to hit him as hard as I could.  I wish he would read this and we could meet.  Im not trying to sound like a bad ass but this guy put me through hell.  I bet you none of the people in hilliard, or anywhere else would put up with this!  So after that day I called up said I wanted something else, and they said turn in your clothes we have offered you 3 other sites, and they didn't work out.  So I turned in my clothes.  I could write a book about this suck ass company, heres another one.  I work with this black guy he doesn't show up in uniform which I know is mandatory he should like everyone else including me, but they fire him for it.  Now get this I work at another site and this guy is slower, I guess you would say which is fine to hire people like that nothing wrong with that.  He shows up in jeans, and 30 minutes late to work everyday Im working some of his shift hes getting paid for it, and nothing ever happens to him, and the other guy I worked with showed up in shorts almost everyday cause it was hot.  I wore my black pants and black socks, but oh well If they read this they can call me I would love to leave my number on here for them, but to many people is on the internet getting numbers.  If they come across this they can call me, I would love to talk to them. I will even let them know that Brett was the one that wrote this! and yes it was Mary Clemens that got rid of me Thank you Mary you just did me a favor lol!!!

Securitas is a tyrant feeding on the backs of its employees. They promote based on brown nosing or tenure. Ability is not a consideration. We are constantly lied to by "management". Upper management is as inept as the worst gaurds you've ever encountered. No performance evaluations or raises after 1 1/2 years is not right.

WE NEED TO UNIONIZE! That'll give them a brain fart if we come to work, wait an hour and then strike!

After working here for approximately 1.5 years,I have discovered that Securitas security here in Los Angeles only epitomizes the fact that bigger definitely does not mean "BETTER" Securitas is just another B.S security company that talks good while walking bad! Securitas being as big as it is only allow them to treat their supposedly "VALUED" employees like pennies on the ground! They figure they can do this because they know that for every disgruntled employee that quits, another desperate, ignorant, masochistic, yet well meaning slob is on his way in to fill out an application that they can use, abuse, shortchange his check, make him feel like a lousy, lazy, good for nothing bum for not taking whatever garbage they throw at him, totally disrespect, cheat, lie to,and the fool will eat it all up,burp, and ask for seconds! In fact, I think it's very hard to "NOT" be hired by securitas as if you can qualify for a guard card from the state, "YOU'RE HIRED!!" I've seen some of the most degenerated people in the world come in and get hired right away! They seem to really get a kick out of doing this!, as though they purposely want to piss you off so that you'll leave and they'll save money somehow! If you don't start out as a supervisor, it's going to be hard as hell to become one!,even if you devote your whole life to them similar to the way christians devote themselves to god!lol, therefore creating virtually a dead end situation for yourself.Besides, it's REALLY hard to prove that you do such a good job that goes far above and beyond what other security officers are doing thus qualifying you for such position, which is usually bent over!lol  It's "ALOT" easier to get into the upper echelons of securitas if you've spent twenty or so years in the military!,or/and retired from some law enforcement agency. If you "EVER" become a site supervisor, usually you are just everyone's "FALL GUY", which means they pay you a little more money, give you a little more authority, virtually take control of your life, and "CHEW YOUR ASS OUT" continually whenever something goes wrong, or, if the client isn't "HAPPY" with the way things are going!,or when their petty b.s. desires aren't granted! Being an entry leveled supervisor for securitas will require 3 things from you 1)Alot of ADVIL!, 2)Lots of Maalox, or Pepto Bismol, 3)A good, nice sturdy pair of KNEEPADS!,as you're definitely going to be on your knees alot! Surely here in los angeles, the pay starts out at $8 per hour, but, what's it really worth if your check is continually wrong? For all of you little gung-ho, workaholic brainy types out here thinking to yourselves "Gee, I'm really going to dig in and work 80 + hours this week", please don't think that securitas is going to pay you 40 hours extra at time and a half wage all at the same time, or EVER! They will conveniently "LOSE" those hours somewhere, and make you fill out a payroll discrepancy form, which is a joke in itself!, and promise to make it up to you!...Good luck in getting it!lol I've always wondered, if the payroll discrepancy is truly a MISTAKE, then why doesn't the mistake ever result in you receiving more money? It seems to me that somebody's in control of these so-called payroll mistakes doesn't it? So,you ask, what kind of person makes for an ideal securitas employee? 1)Someone that doesn't have any type of social life!, therefore available to give their lives to securitas to work anytime, anyplace! 2)Someone that has a low self esteem and doesn't mind being lied to,used, kicked around, disrespected, abused, cheated, or mistreated! 3)Someone that doesn't have any "REAL" bills to pay!,or mouths to feed!,so,it really doesn't matter much that they get paid decently or accurately! 4)Someone that willing to kiss "ALOT" of butt just to get nothing in return! So,please don't believe the hype about securitas being number one, or the largest, or best because they definitely do not live up to their words!

I have been working for Securitas for over a year now. I hate the company and am sick of the rude, uneducated, incompetent and arrogant upper management. I myself am supervisor and have been at many different sits and in two different states in New England. I was promised many different benefits that I have never received and will not receive. Certain benefits are only for salary employees and employees who work in the HR offices. So the guy who speaks as much English as my 2 year old son and sorts out the mail gets college money but I do not! WTF! And for the guy who said that this is Contract Security and if you dont like it then dont do it open your eyes. I have heard stories about this company for people is 7 different states and overseas and its all the same thing. I am former military and I am so ashamed to tell people I work for Securitas. I finally nabbed a good spot with halfway decent pay. Now I just have to put up with my paychecks being consistently wrong and keep reminding my boss that he is my boss. Oh yeah and just think, a lot of the people hired by Securitas are degenerate losers who have almost no education and could never survive in the American working world unless they sat behind a desk in the middle of the night when no one can see them, are the people that eventually move up to upper management. Yep thats right; our bosses were those idiots 5 to 10 years ago. Well at least the company is consistent!

It's obvious from the majority of the posts on here that most of the posters have no clue about how contracted security works.
First of all, it's CONTRACTED - hence the title "contracted security" (amazing how that works, isn't it?). A contract can be terminated at any time for any reason by the client or the security company (in this case, Securitas). It's the nature of the beast. If you don't like that or can't handle that, you're free to go to work somewhere else.
Second, the nature of security contracts is that almost all elements have to be agreed upon by both the client and Securitas. This could be anything from whether you are armed or not to how many hours of coverage are provided and whether or not the site gets a vehicle, etc. Securitas has some control over this - they can suggest options - but the ultimate decision rests with the client.
Third, you're not going to get paid at the same rate Securitas bills the client. If you're making $8 / hr, Securitas is probably billing around $14 / hr. Where does the extra $6 go? Have you ever checked the insurance fees for private security? I have. They're astronomical...and even worse if it's for armed security. And where do you think the money comes from to pay the office staff?
I see several complaints about getting hired for one position (location and / or shift), only to get moved to a different location / shift. Again, if you had half a clue about private security, you would realize this is just the nature of the beast. Clients change what they want from private security quite often. Shifts and hours get changed and rearranged all the time. What you got hired for this morning...might be dropped at the client's request this afternoon. It's the nature of the beast. If you can't handle it, don't work security!
All that being said...
I've worked for Securitas for just about a month now. They're the second private security company I've worked for. They hired me for a specific shift at a specific site...and they delivered on their promises. Because of my experience, my knowledge, my skills, and my motivation, they're already moving me up in hours and pay and have placed me on the short list to become a supervisor. I'm not a brown-noser and I'm not a little cry-baby who whines about how unfair they treat me - I understand how private security works and I can handle it. (Funny how that hard work, demonstrated skils and knowledge, and lack of complaining leads to more hours / pay / responsibility thing works, isn't it?)
My experience with Securitas has been worthy of a 5-star rating!

I worked for them here in s.Calif. about 6 yrs ago. They took over for Pinkerton/aka 'Stinkerton', another sucked up company. I remember how the Los Angeles area offices were loosing old clients, left and right. They lost Universal Studios about 5 minutes after they took it over, a very old account. They started taking bids from motels and bars in the sleazy part of town. I worked at this god awful wherehouse, in the middle of nowhere: you had to walk around for the full 8 hours, rain or shine, day or night. There was no guard post, no place to rest. They canned me and another guard for 'not doing our job', whatever that meant. I found out they were bidding it for around $14/hr and paying us about $8/hr. I was actually relieved when they got rid of me, I went out to celebrate not having to drive out there to the shitty job.

This company is absolutely the worst. I have only been working there for a few months now, but I just can't get by on the hours they are giving me. Most of the shifts they start you out at are very long shifts that run deep into the night/early morning. My last shift I worked was 8pm to 8am and my previous location I worked 9pm-4am. The problem though is that these posts are usually temporary. You will more than likely be a floater and will be in the same boat as I am. One guy I talked to told me it took a year for him to get a permanent post. One time they told me I would be working at this place, but they wern't sure where it was. They only told me to show up to the branch office and the supervisor will drive down with me. Long story short, it was a two hour drive out to the boonies. We were about 10 miles from the state border and I live pretty much in the middle of Ohio. They had me guard these trucks because some guy got layed off and threatened to blow up some trucks and whatnot. Securitas being the wonderful company they are leave me alone with no backup or a weapon to sit alone in the middle of nowhere for the 4-midnight shift. Then I was expected to make the 2 hour drive home and be ready to do it all again the next day for about a week. Granted many people have it a lot worse, but I'm a college kid who is just trying to earn some money in the summer. When you factor in gas and expenses, that takes a chunk out of your paycheck. Gas is another thing they are not good about. They usually only offer about 1-2 dollars in addition to your pay for gas and that's only if you have a post that requires you to patrol in a vehicle. The final thing that pushed me over the edge and made me begin my search for new employment was the fact that it took my boss 5 days to get back to me with my work schedule. This was after waiting a week without calling her and expecting her to do the right thing. So she calls me at 8pm to try and get me to fill in for someone for a 9pm shift. I didn't answer my phone because I was on my way home to attend a going away party for a friend. So the next day and she calls me twice and also calls my home phone twice saying that she tried calling me two days in a row and she is not pleased. This is of course after I waited about 2 weeks to get a work schedule, she decides to get bent out of shape of two days. I decided i'd wait a little longer, because now I have no intention of working for this company anymore but I finally called her back and it rang through to her voicemail which i found odd because about 20 minutes early she was moving the earth to find me, but now she's too busy to pick up. So it has been two days since I returned her call and she has yet to call me with this work schedule that probably consisted of 2 days of graveyard shifts. My basic point is that securitas sucks. no one should be able to write a small book on why the company they work for sucks. I will not be returning to work. If you want a 9-5 job with solid pay then this is not the job for you. If you want a job that gives you maybe between 10-25 hours a week with varying pay then Securitas is right for you. The final two things that I would like to say is that pay rate for securitas varies from site to site. You may make 9 bucks one place and minimum at another. They are very sneaky when it comes to the low paying jobs. They give you the bare minimum on details and play dumb on just about everything. The other thing is that I am a full time employee and last week I worked ZERO hours. I am not on vacation, I've been waiting for my boss to call. The previous week I worked 12 hours in one day and that day was July 4th. Securitas sucks

This company is just god awful. They have this moron named Dale Champ working at their center in Springfield, NJ who I had been dealing with for over a month. I went through two interviews to get hired. They promised me a certain shift (4pm-12am) and then they suddenly UNDERCUT THE POSITION OUT FROM UNDER ME!! So at this point I was pissed, and told him I would not take any other position because he already promised this to me. He kept repeating back to me "but you said you can work other shifts" because they had this 12am-8am shift open. He repeated several times to me "That's not a big deal is it? You never said you couldn't work then, I don't understand what your difficulty is". That's not even the same shifts, and I said I was available to COVER other shifts should it arise I NEVER ONCE said I was willing to work that graveyard shift. I didn't like his attitude about it. Besides, it doesn't change the fact that HE PROMISED a shift to me and suddenly TOOK IT AWAY!! Ok, fine, I had put that company out of my mind because this was just ridiculous. Then he calls me back a week later saying "change of plans, the person whom was going to take that shift now is suddenly moving so it's available again." I was like OK, well, I already went through this hassel but I needed a job anyway so what the hell i'll take it. Next day, calls me back "Uhh it's not guaranteed uhh can you wait another day so I can clear this up with the other person, she might be working it again" Ok, so then I thought to myself: AM I GETTING IT OR NOT? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE? So next day apparently it was all cleared "Yeah it's free" So i did the registering with state police ($75 dollars to register initially with NJ police) and then I got scheduled to goto their training in jersey city, only for him to give me BAD INFORMATION! He would not tell me the building name, gave me an address and told me that I had to use mapquest to get there (which is fine but he FAILED TO TELL ME ABOUT THE TRAIN STATION THERE WHEN I ASKED HIM IF THERE WAS ANY TRAINS LEADING TO THERE!) and gave me a phone number but NO ONE ANSWERED IT WHEN I CALLED! TWICE!.  This made me wind up getting lost in that damn city for nearly TWO HOURS!! I spoke to him the next day over the phone telling him how unhappy I was with how things turned out and he kept repeating my words back to me being extremely condescending and rude. At this point I had to stop him from insulting me and explain to him that I KNOW WHAT I SAID BUT THAT DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT YOU GAVE ME BAD INFORMATION AND ENDED UP COSTING ME A LOT OF MONEY FOR NOTHING!! He wouldn't let it got; He wouldn't even let me speak he kept saying it was all my fault and was a completely rude asshole. I was so disguisted by this whole ordeal I simply hung up on him before I really lost my cool. I actually regret not being a lot more forceful with him; I don't feel he deserved me being professional with him after all his rudeness and lies. This company is _COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL_! Do not EVER attempt to get employed by them. This has been nothing but hell and cost me unnecessary money and time. _NEVER_ will I _EVER_ attempt to work there again and neither should you.

Hi, let me start by saying that I completely agree with you. Securitas sucks. I've been with the company for 3 years, and have managed 3 seprate accounts. I understand that the guards have it rough, but the managers get it in the poop shoot from all sides. If the client doesn't like something, the site manager is blamed. If the guards don't like something, the site manager gets blamed. If the branch office doesn't like something, they tell the site manager that he doesn't do a good enough job despite the fact that he works double shifts every other day just to fill in for the branch office's lack of ability to fulfill their commitments to the client.
I wasn't home for a couple of phone calls (they REFUSED to give me a cell phone, their excuse was "I wasn't important enough") and the ONE weekend I went away (first time in over a year), there was a call out that i wasn't able to handle so they decided to remove me from management and site some crap they made up. I've been putting up with this crap since my first week, and I've finally had enough. I plan on going in Monday and telling them to shove it.
PS, if it were possible to give a negative rating, they'd get a -5 stars from me

Doesn't even deserve a one, really. This company is awful. The only good part is that you might be one of those lucky people to never have a problem with them, and get a site that pays decently. Where should I begin?
1.) Their dispatch office is horrible. They hardly ever get back to you on anything, forget who you are and where you are, and when you are somewhere.. they have no sympathy for your situation.
2.) There is no cohesion in the entire company that I have seen. Everyone does things differently, and if you work for someone who tells you to do one thing, and it conflicts with post orders, there's a damned if you do and damned if ya don't approach to whatever happens... Fundamentally, you are a scapegoat for the client and the company both. YOU are who gets fucked if anything happens.
3.) I have seen MUCH better actual security at a goddamned dance club, and it was all ages there, so they had to be careful of what they do! And I'm sure they got more respect. Most places I've been, anybody who had half a brain could walk away with valuable things or info, if they paid attention.. and there's nothing the guards can usually do about it, with all the red tape and hullaballoo about rules and blah blah blah.

In summary.. DON'T WORK FOR THEM!

It took them over a month to hire & train me, then it turns out that they hired me for a non-existant position! They are utterly incompetent.

Yes, unfortunately, Securitas treats it's employees as someone would treat their dog, IF they didn't like their dog. I've worked for them for a number of years and I am on their persona non grata list. After they brought in a new patrol manager who promised the world but managed to get the patrol division disolved, I have no respect for them any longer. Now, I just do my job and go home. I've never seen more incompetence in a company. The head company does not have any kind of grasp of the people they have in the office. If you are ex-military, you can almost be assured of a management level position, since they are the only people they promote. What a great way to treat people. They have no clue as to how to treat people.
