This store sells Ahava Dead Sea beauty products. Ahava makes its products in an illegal settlement in the Occupied West Bank of Palestine using resources that don't rightfully belong to the company. When you buy Ahava products you help finance the destruction of hope for a peaceful and just future for both Israelis and Palestinians. For more info Google ‘stolen beauty.’

Earlier I have been huge fan of C21 but for the past one year I found the quality of all the stuff to be very poor. Wallet came apart in 5 days of usage. Calvin Klein, boxers after one wash the stitching came off and were unwearable. It seems that they source their stuff from some cheap Chinese manufacturer. To me there is no difference between the guys selling fake Louis Vuitton bags outside the store and C21 selling fake trendy designer wear inside.

There is no need for the exaggrations, that is why they are so insulting! If I can purchase a bag listed for $195 for $60, why claim it retails for $225? I will continue to shop but can't trust the store to give me a value. They must love the "how much you saved" reciept too much.

Okay, look. The people on here who review this store take themselves WAY too seriously. You are going to a DISCOUNT DEPARTMENT STORE. If you want to find good clothes at good prices, EXPECT to push, shove, and yell. Do not go in expecting a nice shopping experience, you won't get it. But you MIGHT get a Marc Jacobs Collection Cashmere v-neck sweater (orig. 700 dollars) for $99. On clearance. Don't be afraid. Bargain shoppers can smell fear.

It is true that they have a lot of stuff at discounted prices, but it sometimes feels that everything is simply trashy. I had to return an item I purchased and everyone was really rude. Actually, when I was paying for it originally, I got pretty muched bullied by the cashier. I usually don't mind the service, specially at a store where you interact for 10 seconds with the cashier, but this people where incredible. Sincerelly, for me it is not worth it.

Well I love the fact that there are so many things to choose from . Clothes, shoes, purses, watches oh my the list can go on forever. I love this store I can spend the whole day there searching thru the many items that's available "only if I didn't have a life lol" but overall the store is great and I love to shop here. I recommend anyone to just check it out the employees are really helpful and they try there best to assist with anything possiable. But I must say u must have patients.

I was very disappointed when I began looking at the shoes then the women's clothing. Some of the shoes had been worn, clothing had holes and stains. I thought I had gone into a second hand store. After the initial shock I carefully looked and found a nice cashmere sweater for a great price.

If you want to be catered to by staff please shop at barneys and sak's. You get what you pay for and this is a discount store. I cannot understand why these prissy up tight women are writing bad reviews. Where else are you going to get a Marc Jacobs bag for 149.99? So ladies really stop your belly aching and grow some thick skin. This is NYC you want polite shop in CT

Today was ruined by my experience at this store. We went to shop at 5:30pm, and stayed until closing. I shopped for over one hour in the shoe dept., finally finding two pair that I really liked. I took them with me to the clothing dept. and tried to pay for them with the clothes I wanted to purchase, just to be told by a very low-class, angry, unprofessional "manager" that I was NOT ALLOWED to purchase them unless the shoes were tagged separately. The boxes each described the shoes perfectly, yet this was not enough to warrant a sale. The manager inappropriately attempted to lecture me on the policy, as if it was posted everywhere and I just didn't see it. But the policies are NOT posted, and I wasted 3 hours at this store and left with nothing. I cannot believe I had to practically beg to be allowed to spend money!! Dressing room staff treat customers like thieves in a prison, screaming rules every few minutes. While standing at the register waiting, waiting, I turned around to look at some tops hanging inches away from the line. I was then man-handled by a female security guard who told me to stop looking, that I needed to just stand at the register and wait, because it was not fair to the workers who were attempting to then fix the items hanging per their closing duties. No worker was around doing this, instead a group of them was a good 20 feet away, talking and laughing. The whole experience was so stressful! I can't remember ever being treated so badly by a place where I am spending my money without need. I will NEVER step foot into these stores again. Terribly run business!

I used to love going to Century 21, but now since they have discontinued their plus size department, I will no longer shop at this store. Too bad, because the handbags, shoes, children's clothes and lingerie departments are great. But, since they no longer obviously care about me, their loyal customer, I will not spend my hard-earned money at this store. Bye, bye Century 21, it was good while it lasted.

Great place for that one (or couple) bargain if you’re there at the right time, first come first serve. Expect crowds & merchandise mishandled as time passes while on the floor! No specific time or day when merchandise will be receive & added to the floor, primarily a guess when items will be in stock & on the sales floor. Most half of the service on the other hand, can be improve in the management & floor/cashier service or it begins with HR in their selection of new hires. Return policy on certain items is a twist & turn, no direct return.

We found a prom dress for 70% off the department store price. We were very happy with the selection in all departments and even more happy with the prices. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely shop at this store again. Already planning a fall trip to look for homecoming dresses. I have been spreading the word about how great this store is and hope that others take advantage of the bagains. Well worth the trip and the crowds are outweighed by the selection and prices.

i know that more then half of the people who shop at century 21 are tourists, and so i would recommend it to them because they seem to think everything here is really cheap (especially the europeans), but if you want to get some designer clothes for a cheaper price there is a chance century 21 will have them but i would prefer stores like loehmanns or daffys or tjmaxx because its calmer and things are better organized in general everything here is a mess, its a wild mob of people, you have to push through and its just annoying most of the time.

This store is like a zoo. Sometimes you can find real good deal here. If you look for a neat, clean place with good customer service, stay away from this place. I think the management should work on how to train people who work there (especially cashiers and store managers there) to have better customer service. They treat you like a prisoners with extremely bad attitudes. I know it's a crowd place and an unpleasant work environment to work at, but I believe customers don't deserve to be treated like animals. Customer Service people give you attitude when you try to return items on the upper level. Long lines, bad services, outdated products. I simply hate this place. You don't necessary find good bargains here. STAY AWAY.

response to member "nevercomingback" newyork.citysearch.c0m/review/7096305?reviewId=1856 1321 June 29, 2008. As a FORMER Century 21 employee your comment is accurate and I concur. I'm sorry to hear about your situation with you, your sister and LP(lost prevention A.K.A Security). Like you said the store offers money to employees if they find anybody stealing products and it's a bad thing. Alot of people were wrongfully accused of stealing many of times, because employees and LP try to gain a few bucks at the expense of innocent people who were simply shopping and minding their business. Many times LP's don't respond to the reports from other employees of a customer stealing because they want the extra $$ for themselves which is more money for non-LP employees. So instead of the employee (who made the report/call) receiving the money the LP guard will get his due. This happened to me a few times. This shows how corrupt the store can be. I can't comment on the other C21 stores within the tri state area, but I can definitely vouch for the C21 Manhattan Store. They got alot of malicious employees mostly within the management. NOT TO MAKE IT A PERSONAL VENDETTA OR A GRUDGE AGAINST THE MANAGERS but when you have 2 dept. managers and around 5 asst. managers in a dept. it will cause havoc. 1 manager and 2 asst. manager should be enough to operate a dept. Most of the managers(not all) have no life outside of work, they have a low self-esteem, they will disrespect and walk over the employees like we're a piece of newspaper on a busy NYC sidewalk during rush hour.At times I get the impression they get a trill in treating people bad at work, hence "no life outside of work". This will result in a low morale and employees treating the customers rude and employees having grumpy attitudes (as you can see by the comments posted) because of the way managers act and treat their employees. If this store is serious about improving their customer service and work atmosphere they should really consider terminating alot of managers. They should start in Lost Prevention (few managers in LP feel like they're above THE LAW when in reality they're not), then get rid of "A Particular Female Manager" in the men's dept. and work their way on throughout the store other departments. Overall, C21 is a great place to buy nice clothes and I definitely recommend it. But I personally do not recommend working there unless your just looking for a summer job as a college student and if your an honesty person who don't steal, watch out for LP. I'm just glad I’am no longer an employee at that store because I would've needed a Costco size anti-depressant from the things an employee got to go through with the managers. I thank God I've moved on toward bigger and better things than C21, thanks to a Big East college education. PS- I left on my own terms(wasn't terminated).

I like Century 21 for their women's designer department, and their bath/bedding departments. For the women's designer clothes, everything is really packed in there. You never know what you will find. If you have a good eye for fabric, and tailoring, then you will do well there. You have to be able to quickly go through all the clothes, focusing on the quality of the fabric. When you see something with good fabric, a nice drape etc., only THEN should you waste your time pulling it off the clothing-rack for further inspection. C 21 is a hit-or-miss kind of place. Some days I find nothing and other days I'll find a few great items. It's nice that unlike other discount clothing stores, C21 has private changing rooms.

As a Christmas gift, I bought a $200 Century 21 gift card for my mom but it turns out she wants something else at another store altogether. With the economy being what it is these days, I really can't afford to let her keep the gift card and still buy the other item so I figured I would just return the gift card. After all, I have a receipt, the card is never been used... It turns out that I can't. I have my receipt, the card is not used and I just want my money back. Isn't it like just buying an item? The store manager insists that I cannot redeem the card for cash. That's not what I'm trying to do. I am returning the card, I bought it and I want my money back, I have a receipt for it. Nowhere does it say that I cannot return it, having been the purchaser of the card. They just won't give me my money back. I, unfortunately have no other means of disputing it since I paid cash. If I had used a credit card, I would have a third party trying to dispute this for me but instead, I've been forced to swallow a policy that doesn't even exist. All the clerks at the return dept. said that no one has ever tried to return a gift card.... It's ridiculous, there is no precedent for it, therefore, it can't be done... their customer service stinks.

Customer service is the worst of NYC department stores. While shopping in NYC store there was a repeated announcement they were offering free delivery for shoppers who resided in Manhattan. When I requested my purchases be delivered as per their repeated announcement, the clerks insisted there was no such policy. After being referred to various registers and waiting on lines for almost an hour I demanded to see a manager. The manager also insisted there was no such policy as free delivery. At that very same moment the announcement came over the store PA system. The obnoxious manager claimed he was not responsible for an error made on the PA system. I demanded they honor the stores announcement. After another hour, and repeatedlly hearing the announcement for free delivery several times, the manager was able to arrange for the delivery. All the while the store manager complained to me how I was holding up the line. While most of the clerks are friendly, the stores management is not. Frankly, this store is not worth the time or effort.

I just returned from the store after spending an hour trying to return an item without a receipt. I bought it last week. They attach the sales receipts onto your bag. I guess, my receipt wasn't attached well to the bag, because when I got home I didn't find it there. Too bad the items didn't fit and i had to return them. First of all, if you don't have a receipt you have to fist stop by in the department where you bought it, and get the adjustment slip. Only after that you can go and stay in a pretty long line to return your stuff. When I got to the adjustment desk they told me that they have a new policy of taking 25% off every item, because I don't have the receipt. I said that I bought it last week with my credit card and that the items must appear on my credit card. After talking to a manager, the clerk finally agreed to check my credit card account. She called their office and, sure enough, they saw my purchase on the computer (they dont have computers at the adjustment desks -- they have to call somewhere...). The clerk got my transaction number and all needed info from the guy on the phone. Then she went to print out the receipt for me, however the info he gave her did not go through. She kept trying, however, no luck. I spen my entire lunch hour by the adjustment desk, only to be given an appology and being asked to come tomorrow. I am really outraged at this policy. This store gets too much undeserved credit. All the other stores I shope at are much more advanced in terms of customer service. Another negative note is most of the stuff they sell appears as it was used already. I felt like I was shopping at a thrift shop. I don't see any reason for myself to return to this store.

This department store is basically comprised of designer cast-offs- it's over-rated and over-priced. The selection was dull. I'm not sure what people see in this store. After wasting about three hours here, I came out with two pieces I didn't really like but bought anyways so it wasn't a complete failure going there. I'm sure if you went there often enough you would find some hidden treasures, but considering the messy store was and the low-quality clothes I purchased, I don't see my return happening.

When I visited Century 21 Department Store in New York near the WTC site, I (a man) wanted to try on 2 pairs of pants. I was informed by the 'guardian' of the men's fitting rooms that I could not try these on, or anything except for suits! I promptly complained to the department manager, but got nowhere. I strongly urge you to STAY AWAY FROM Century 21 Department Store in New York until this ridiculous policy is changed! Or, if you do go, complain and say that you refuse to buy any men's clothing. This is an extremely insensitive, offensive and customer-unfriendly policy.

I bought some perfume and an umbrella. Well packed Totes umbrella was broken. Went back to the store to return and was sent to customer service on the third floor. After waiting on the line for 20 minutes, the clerk refused to take the item back and wanted me to go back to the 1st floor. Then another clerk there asked to me to reach out the correction desk on the third floor itself. Once there they asked me to go to the first floor again. After 45 minutes and up and down I finally met the manager on the third floor who was supposed to inspect the broken umbrella and give me a signed form. To my horror he was rude and said that the Totes umbrella cannot be returned to stores and had to be sent to the factory. (Spend another 3 to 8 dollars for shipping) a new umbrella I bought the previous day, broken in the package)!!!! . Ridicules. After some arguments, I decided that this will be my last visit to the Century 21 store, and threw the umbrella at their desk and went home. Lost 13 dollars and 45 minutes of my time. Very bad customer service.

So, after being there for for 3 hours my mom and I got separated from my sister (an adult.) After an hour we asked someone to page her name over the intercom so we could find her. The staff said they couldn't because she wasn't an adult. 5 hours later, we still couldn't find her. No one would help us. I spoke to security and everything. It turns out my sister accidentally damaged something trying it on, and they called the cops. They booked her - EVERYTHING. This after she spent over a thousand dollars at the store. I spent a thousand and so did my mom. Needless to say, everything is going back. The cops tell me they hate this store, and that employees are paid 50 bucks for every person they can get arrested. Most of the charges end up getting dropped because there is no basis for the arrests (so a waste of NY tax payers' money.) What's worse is that the staff lied to us. Instead of telling us where my sister was, they lied in the end, and said "she came looking for you, got tired, and went back to the hotel." The staff definitely seem like they hate their jobs. The point is . . . great deals. Awful service (except for a few nice people who worked there, who told us they hate their jobs.) And . . . the people are clearly underpaid, and an extra 50 bucks for getting someone in trouble comes in handy. Needless to say, these are some tourists who are never coming back - and we're gonna spread the word back home in Canada too.

I shop at Century 21more than I should. I just always find great items for the home and savings on clothes and shoes for the family. Reading some of the reviews, I noticed that some shoppers appearred to have had bad experiences while shopping there. I go into Century's everyday, even if it's to look around and see what's new. Besides the excessive amount of people in the stores (that's why I prefer to go early in the morning) I have not any complaints. In fact, I would like to complement a manager by the name of Juliette Lowe. She is the manager in the mens shoes department but is always and willing to assist me with children shoes. This morning for example, I was trying to locate a missing shoe for my daughter. I asked Ms. Lowe could she assist me and she was able to find the missing shoe. I was extremely happy because not only found the missing shoe, it was on sale. She has also assisted me with purchasing shoes for my daughter in the past and/or would let me know when to come back in for more selections for new shipments would arrive. Thank you Ms. Lowe for all your assistance. I will continue to shop at Century 21.

I paid a visit to the long Island Century 21 Dept store. What a horror show! I went to buy a shirt a pair of pants for my daughter and son on saturday. I felt like I was being followed all over the store. The person that was following me was security. I used to work in the NYC store so I know the procedure of what security need to be looking for in the store. Long story short! I asked the guy can I help you! He indicated to me that I looked like I was up to know good with my 2 infants kids with me. I told him to shove it up his and asked for his mananger. The manger also came over to me like she did not want to be bothered because it is time for her shift to end. So I placed all my items at the register even the things I wasn't going to buy and told them I will be right back I left my wallet in my car and I left. I will not shop there for anything again since this matter. I think Century 21 NEEDS to send there employees to HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR THE CUSTOMERS CLASS. Be yourself: If you're an expert on burgers, let us know. If this is your first-time massage, say so I DID NOT KNOW THEY ARE GIVING MASSAGE!

Century 21 Department Store 1

While Century 21 has great selection, the employees who work there are the rudest I have ever encountered in a retail experience. Recently, I bought a shirt at their Brooklyn store. On the day that I went to wear it, took the tags off, put the shirt on for 5 minutes and then realized that it had a hole in it. When I went to the store to return the shirt- they accused me of lying and told me that the shirt had been worn. I said yes, it has been worn- for 5 minutes! Needless to say, they refused to allow me to exchange the shirt. It only cost me $15 dollars- but the insult to my integrity cost me a lot more. I do not enjoy shopping in a store where I am accused of lying. Furthermore, I do not recommend shopping in a store that is willing to accuse a customer of lying instead of taking responsibility for their faulty merchandise. Do not waste your time!

Century 21 Department Store 1

My wife wanted to return an item and was accused of being there the day before to return the same item and was refused?!? Another member of staff then stepped in and said she also remembers her from yesterday. My wife explained she was at work all day and they continued to falsely accuse. Needless to say this was a pretty upsetting and confrontational experience. I discourage anyone to shop there out of principal for how the staff treat customers (having also experience this type of attitude myself). If I can't deter you from shopping there then I would advise to be extremely careful with what you buy. For the most part, the clothing is imperfect and that's why it's cheaper... for example, you wash it and the garment with discolor, the sleeves on the sweater are freakishly long or body too short. Many of the ties have 'pulls' in the material, or the pattern is not symmetrical etc.

I purchased a purse on December 15 2207 and wanted to return it on Dec 17 2007 ( 2 days latter), not only that they had a security guy with the manager when they had the nerv to tell me that the bag was not theirs so they cannot accept the return! Finally I requested the tape at the cash register on the day of the purchase in order to get my money bag! They sell garbage and after they do not stand to thier policies. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. THEY DO NOT KNOW THE MERCHANDISE, AND ADVERTISE POLICIES THAT THEY DO NOT STAND BY! IS NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE! YOU CAN BUY THE SAME MERCHANDISE FROM DEPARTMENT STORES ON BETTER SALE!

I used to shop here a lot more, in recent years it has been going downhill a bit. The store is incredibly messy on the upper floors. Century 21 keeps renovating and expanding bust somehow it never seems to make a real difference. Lingerie is usually on the floor and being trampeled on, the upper designer floor has many items thal look worn or torn. Overall you can find great stuff if you have the patience, accessories and leather goods are usually a better bet. Clothing is usually not available in a range of sizes. For a better selection go to Woodbury Commons where all high end designers have stores that are neat and organized with helpful sales people that are also knowledgable.

Century 21 Department Store 3

The best departments in Century 21 are; handbags, shoes, and the mens department. While they say they have designer fragrances, I find you can get the same fragrances at Duane Reade or JC Pennys. The cosmetic department is average, nothing special at all. Its not a Saks or Bloomingdales. The NYC store is very disorganized and the aisles are narrow and cramped. The sales people are rude, inexperienced, and uncaring. They act like they really don't want to work there. I find the women's clothing is primarily for the under 30 crowd. On the plus side, they have one of the best selection of handbags I've ever seen. They have high end bags such as Tods and inexpensive bags as well. The mens department is awesome. It is the best place to purchase socks!! The shoe department is also excellent. They have all styles and price ranges. I find the Morristown, NJ store much more organized and less crowded. If you can get there, I recommend shopping there instead of the NYC store.

If you are woilling to put up with the crowds, you can get some great bargains here. The handbags and shoes selections are huge, if a bit disorganized, and the home section in the basement has some of the best specials in the store.
