DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. After months with no response on a valuable synth repair, I was told that my pro-one was terminal. Trusting their expertise I sold it them for a song. The same keyboard was up for sale a month later. GO TO MAIN DRAG or ANYWHERE ELSE! My beloved pro-one is still there, so please try it out, but don't be shy give the old keyboard stand a good tilt.

This place f*cking rules. That's really all I got. Anywhere that sells a Gretsch for a $600 is my type of spot. The keys are awesome, cool acoustics, ukeleles, so dope. Claude is the man too, he's what a music shop owner should be like.

One of the the best boutiqu music shops in NYC. Ludlow Guitars, Chelsea Guitars...they have nothing on East Village Music. Check out the Ukelele's. I mean, how cool is that? They have tons of Ukelele's, not to mention electric guitars, basses, acoustics, drums, percussion, effects pedals. Get involved. This place is legit.

I hate to be taken advantage of. I thought I knew those guys but I found out I didn't. I needed to move out of town and decided to leave some items on consignment totally trusting them. I tried contacting them about the status of my items but their phone was out. So I made a special trip to the store. I found out that they cannibalized one of my items without asking me and sold another item as well. They never told me what they were selling them for even though I asked them many times. When I left them there they told me they would get back to me, but never did even after they sold my items. They owed me a commission and I never would have gotten it if I hadn't gone to the store personally. Also as far as comission most stores only take out 15% they took out 50%. I find them really deceitful and untrustworthy.

Great place! Low key, no attitude, and no hard sell or pressure. The guy was working solo, but handled each well. I had checked out several other better known, bigger name, more accessible stores in recent weeks: this shop is the best. Prices are good, they had some guitars I'm really looking for (and hope to get when I can get them). Patient, knowledgeable about their inventory and stuff in general and no pressure. Important note: I almost never came there because last few weeks I tried to call, but a Verizon message kept saying the # was messed up. When I finally got there on foot, the guy said there's a major problem with their telephone lines and they are really struggling to get it resolved (Verizon issue that's affected several other local businesses: there was a recent article in NY Times on this; some businesses have been affected literally months). They are STILL in business. He confirmed their hours are till 8:00 PM Mon-Saturday (Sunday till 7:00 PM).

Also love this store. Worried though, their phone number isn't working, have tried to call them all week. Are they still there? Keeping my fingers crossed for this dandy neighborhood music shop!

i am loyal to east village music. other music stores treat you like they are doing you a huge favor by selling guitars, so i only go to east village now. their selection is limited by the small size of their store, but what they have is quality and they are not pushy salesmen. their prices are also the best in town. they even beat ebay on my recent electric guitar purchase. evan is also the only guy in the city i trust to work on my guitars. if they don't have it, they'll get it. they do trades and have some great used electronics.

I came here with zero knowledge about guitar and though these guys could've been a little snotty with me, they were instead really helpful and nice. It was a nice introduction.
