Original Review :Sorry,John- but everything your wife sang on ought to be buried somewhere deep and remote with the same caution used for nuclear waste. UPDATE : Actually,I checked ,and there are some great songs on this album.I was mixing it up with something more laden with Yoko.I stand corrected.

Despite the name, Yoko Ono's vocals don't appear on the album (thankfully). Its an interesting, often depressingly nihilistic album with a few intriguing pieces on it. Klaus Voormann turns in some fine work on bass here. This often gets confused with "Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band" which was released at the same time, featured the caterwauling stylings of Ms. Ono, and is utterly dreadful.

johns primal scream,he is so naked emotionally on this disk(as opposed to just being naked on two virgins).klaus plays wonderful bass and ringo turns in his best drum performance on record.fave:isolation

What the f--k makes him, and anything the Beatles did for that matter, the best thing since the wheel? The Beatles were not God's gift to the world.

I am giving this thing 3 stars because I like its almost non-musical approach to music and the fact that it was so avante garde for its day. It was as if Lennon had decided to just go in the studio and freak out and do whatever came to mind. I sort of like it. Especially when compared to his later toned down and mellowed out solo releases. It's an aquired taste admittedly, but I sort of dig it baby, you know?

I think people may be confusing this record with some other album- Yoko doesn't even really appear on this album. It's a stripped down album- really just John, Ringo, and a bass playing old friend from their Hamburg days- and onetime Manfred Mann member and artist- Klaus Voorman. A very depressing and/ or angry album, impressive but not fun, sort of a session with a shrink on tape. Some of the songs aren't that hot and haven't aged all that well, and a fair amount of this album was almost nihilistic, inspiring a hilarious but insightful parody of Lennon called "Magical Misery Tour" from a young Christopher Guest when he was with National Lampoon a couple of years later. "Remember," "Isolation," and "I Found Out" are all good songs, and "Working Class Hero" was astonishing.

John Lennon made this band rock. Yoko Ono is a low point.
