Excellent food. The borscht, dumplings, pork chops and stroganoff --right down to the pickles--were all excellent. The flavored vodkad all tasted "stale", if that's possible, with the exception of the hot pepper vodka, which was really great once you got past the fire. The service was horribly slow, but at least friendly and the restaurant itself was chilly and too brightly lit. The restroom consists of a single employee restroom within the kitchen. I recommend not drinking a lot. Better yet, forego the uncomfortable bathroom situation and the terrible service, just get your food to go...

I went on Wednesday night to Traktir. The waiter was very nice. We drank the compote, which was very refreshing. We ordered the trio of those dumplings, then the chicken in crepes with mushroom cream sauce. Both plates were very tasty (I think they both had the same sauce). I guess Russian food is on the heavier side but it was a fun experience. Traktir is one of those ethnic experiences where the many of the diners are from the country. Most people there seemed Russian. That's a good sign, right?

I can always go here with my friends and family, whenever. We always enjoy eating here. It gives us a taste of babushka's homecooked meals. haha. =) Highly recommend to come and try it out for yourself. Take my word, it will not be time wasted and you may in fact end up coming more than once.

On my recent visit to Traktir I found a cheaply decorated eatery with plastic plates and no tableclothes. All entrees had the same side of potatoes and cabbage, a sort of what one could see in a Russian diner 20-30 years ago. It was sad to see those served on all plates around. Dumplings were really good. Harcho was OK, but far from the real deal. The service was quite indifferent. Meal for two cost us about $50. I had 250 g. of Vodka that raised my bill by another $40 (!). Overall impression is that of a rip-off.

I just had the best meal ever. Located in west hollywood this charming restaurant delivers great tasting russian food. I started with the borscht it was very good, then the trio vereniki (Russian style dumplings), chicken blintzes very good and tasty, for main dish we ordered chicken tabaka (pressed cornish hen in garlic wine sauce so so delicious. My friend ordered lula kebab and he said it was the best he has ever had. I can't wait to go again, but I was told to make reservation on the weekend, because it is small and fills up fast. Highly recommended restaurant.

Each time i've been here it's been a wonderful experience. Great ambiance, friendly staff and delicious authentic Russian/Ukranian dishes that make you come back over and over again to this place. I've eaten here several times and loved the food, the decor and the service was exellent. Love the outdoor patio, it's a great place to enjoy wonderful LA weather and people watch. would highly recommend it for any one who loves good food and great service.

What a great place. The food is wonderful. Try their shih kebobs. The staff is accommodating and welcoming. I have returned at least 5 times with my partner. On the weekends reservations are highly recommended because the place is small and fills up quickly, so call ahead of time. A very nice place to spend a lunch as well. I recently met the owners and they are so warm and so nice. It is truly a family owned restaurant. Also, don't be surprised to spot your friends there as more people are discovering this little hideaway right in the heart of West Hollywood.

This is the first Russian restaurant that I've ever been to, and I have to say, my first experience was a pretty good one. I ordered the Ukrainian Borsch and Potato Vereniki and LOVED IT. I've been back 3 times since. However, I didn't love the service, as the servers seemed a bit impersonal (but who goes to a restaurant expecting to be the waiter's best friend?) and there were painful long waits that I had to endure. And no, the restaurant wasn't crowded that particular day. One example: I ask for a box to take my leftovers home. Waiter says okay, even gives me a smile. I wait, nothing happens. I ask again, wait for a good while, nothing happens. Since my lunch break was almost over, I had to leave ... without the box and without my food :-( Not discouraging anyone from going there, but if you have a lot of patience and can deal with lengthy waits while dining at your table, then I highly recommend this place because of the food (not service). I will definitely go back because I... Read more

What a great undiscovered gem in West Hollywood. The atmosphere is casually cozy and welcoming and is abound with friendly service and people. Nice place to spend an evening with friends or family during the week or weekend. I also returned for lunch and found it to be just as great. The best part is the food. Try any shashlyk or pelimeni (those dumplings). If you want to try a taste of Russia, order one of the flavored vodkas. Don?t know what to order ?ask the waiters, they will go through the entire menu with you - mine did. :) Although reservations are not required, it is a good idea to call ahead of time, as more people are discovering this place.

Located on Santa Monica Boulevard, this restaurant is filled with Russian patrons drinking great Baltic beer and tasty fruit Kompott, which is already a sign of good authentic food. The pork chops are served sizzling on a hot plate and are grilled to fantastic taste! The Russian meat "ravioli" and its mushroom sauce is to die for and the fried potatoes sprinkled with dill couldn't be better. Service is a little lacking, but just enough to get you to your food. A must try. Unique and not too pricey.

I do not know who put it as being romantic, this is the only thing it's not... it's pretty bright inside, if you are sitting on a patio you will most definitely inhale some of the cigarette smoke because many people smoke during dinner; as for food, simple Russian and Caucasian dishes, yet prepared very well. I love going there for dinner after work or whenever I am going out with a bunch of friends because you can be pretty loud and nobody is going to care... Also, it became pretty popular, lately, so if you are planning on going for a dinner around 7-9 o'clock you better call in for a reservation. Couple of times I showed up without a reservations and both times I was not able to get a table (Russians love to have long dinners, so waiting for a table to open may take a while).

What a great place for lunch or dinner! First of all - the FOOD! It's sooooo good! Then service - very kind, knowing what they are doing and how to please the customer. I could write more and more - let's just say it has the whole 9 yards. Very nice restaurant. I would recommend it to everyone - wheter you are russian-speaking or not. Just go there and you will understand what I am talking about.

I sow Traktir in construction, and stopped there for lunch as soon as it opened its doors. Interior is georgeous: old world Slavic charm, cozy, relaxing. Extremely clean, and waiters are super professional. Food is unbeleivable, I had to ask chef for some recepies, but he would not give them up. I found out that these guys use only prime, aged beef, and veggies straight from the farm. Great huge sandwiches, delicious salads, and my favorite, all those Russian cold appetizers. I loved it.
