I called West Coast Chief Repair on a Sat. morning, and they came out and evaluated my refrigerator repairs that afternoon. They returned on Thurs. with the parts and completed the repair. They were very knowledgeable, efficient and the cost was reasonable. Excellent service. I will use them again.

I called this business when my heater went out. I asked if they could give an estimate for the repair before they came out. I was told no estimate could be provided. When they showed up, on time I should add, the repairman said the issue was my thermostat. They said it would cost $300 for a new one. I agreed, although later found the same model for much less online. After the install, the heater would cycle on and off rapidly, every 30 seconds. I would not do business with this company again.

Alex from West Coast Chief did a great job. He explained what was wrong and on completion of the repair showed me the faulty parts to verify his diagnosis. The work area was left very clean and tidy. A prompt professional service.

As a management company that we are, we always deal with different service professionals. However, the service professional sent by West Coast Chief was polite, friendly and knowledgeable and took care of our tenant in a speedy manner, promptly. He communicated the procedure and worked with moving heavy obstacles without any complaining and handled the situation timely and smoothly. We will continue giving them all our appliance business for the many buildings and houses we are currently managing. Keep up the good work.

i chose them on account of all the good reviews. we had a furnace generator that needed to be cleaned, requiring access from a crawlspace. they missed their 1st service window, and didn't arrive until the end of the 2nd. the price seemed exorbitant, given all that was required was to clean a part. i asked the technician why it was so much, and he said that his supervisor had given him a price. when i called the supervisor to ask how the price was determined, i got no clear answer, just that it was "more work than a washer or dryer". bottom line, we paid $250 for less than an hour's worth of work (and that's after i talked them down from $275!). when it costs $65 just to have them come out, and you've been without heat for a few days, it's difficult to send someone away- but i sure won't call these guys again!

Where do I start? The first mistake I made was signing up for a home warranty with Total Protect Home Warranty through my mortgage company. One of the most dishonest companies I have ever dealt with! My oven was giving me some error messages. Called Total Protect. Had to call West Coach Chief Repair myself and pay them a $75 deductible. Had to wait while they ordered the part. They installed it, and then a week later, the SAME ERROR codes appeared. They did NOT honor their 90 days parts and 30 days labor guarantee and wanted to charge me an ADDITIONAL $75 for another part. So they MISDIAGNOSE the problem in the first place and then wanted to charge me twice to have it fixed. I said okay, call me back when the new part arrived. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK. I'm sure they figured out that they would not be reimpbursed by the Home Warranty company so they're comfortable with screwing their customer. NEVER AGAIN!

One of our 5 ton A/C units broke down about a month ago and we had West Coast Chief come out to fix it. It was a complicated repair but they know what they’re doing – the unit was fixed in 2 days (required 3 trips). People at West Coast were also very understanding. The unit broke in the middle of a heat wave and they promptly dispatched their technician to fix it, so we didn’t have to wait for days, it was getting pretty close to 100 degrees inside. Now, a month later, another heat wave comes around and our other 5 ton unit takes a dive. West Coast was here in under 3 hours and the unit was back up and running an hour later. Very professional outfit. Would gladly recommend and use again in the future. Semper Fi!

My whirlpool refrigerator was leaking, constantly running and making noise. Food inside the refrigerator portion was not keeping cool. Tech came out - found a tare in the door gasket (rubber seal between the fridge and the door). Had a replacement part in his truck. He replaced the gasket and gave us some tips on how to help keep the fridge cool during hot summers and showed us how to clean the condenser coils which helps with conserving electricity. Can't complain about these guys.

West Coast Chief has performed several repairs in my home and I was very pleased with the service each time. They helps you think of options and ways to get things done with less money, without compromising quality which I found amazing of somebody in this kind of business. The company has been extremely honest, easy to work with and clearly explains the necessary repairs. I plan to continue to use West Coast Chief in the future and I recommend them to anyone.

i'm open to the possibility of replacing the used refrigerator but i wish they would offer me the option of getting my money back. sure they can charge me for transportation and the visit but at least give an option, right? for now they get a poor rating, but if they give me a better refrigerator and it lasts past a few months, then I'll come back and change it. but for now I'm not happy at all. I had to through out all the food I had, and haven't had a refrigerator in 3 days just trying to figure this out. sb_in_LA

Here's my review to this company. It was 8:30am, July 4th and I have people coming over to my house to celebrate. My A/C stoppped working that morning. I started to panic. I know there will be no service company that will be able to come same day knowing the fact that its HOLIDAY. I searched for company on-line and didnt find anyone open but West Coast Appliance. Although I saw a lot of bad reviews, I still tried their service. I called and told the guy that its an emergency and I need someone to come over before noon-sounds too demanding. He told me that he'll call me back to check if theres someone to come and service my A/C. Luckyly after 10 min he called me back. He scheduled me from 11-1pm same day. The service guy showed up like around 12nn. He checked the my A/C and find out that the fuse is bad and needs replacement. Guess how much they charge me $55.00. Im not sure if this is too much or just right. Knowing its holiday $55 seems to be reasonable for me. The service guy could ... Read more

Spent two afternoons in a row waiting for them during my given service windows. The first night they never showed and I called them 40 minutes after my window was done. The second night - after I was assured it wouldn't happen again - the same thing happened. They were going to get to me 20 minutes after my window. They explained it with traffic, but then you should have called when you realized you wouldn't make the window, not after the service window expires. Unless you have tons of time to spare waiting for them when they likely will not show...please DO NOT USE THEM!

We called them when the freezer in our Subzero was freezing shut. The repairman was very creepy and unprofessional, ranting about problems in his personal life the whole time he was there. They were paid a couple hundred dollars to fix the problem, which they claimed was with the drainage hoses. The freezer froze shut again, and they sent out the same repairman. He insisted that nothing was wrong (even though the freezer had frozen shut!). Then he started yelling at me in Russian and stormed out of my house while I was on the phone with his superior! When the freezer froze shut a third time, they offered to send someone else out, but only if we would pay them more money. No thanks! We called Wilshire Refrigeration instead. They replaced the heater, and we have not had a problem since.

I had my thirty year old roof-mounted combo unit replaced by West Coast Chief Repair. Their staff took the time to understand my budget limitations and worked out an unbelievable deal. Their tech arrived on time with the heavy machinery and swapped out the old clunker in less than two hours. I now have a cool comfortable home to spend those dog days of summer in San Fernando Valley. Thank you West Coast Chief Repair! You are the best. I recommend them for anyone looking for AC work. Ask for Michael…what a pro!

Great Service. Pleasure to work with I had some major problems with my AC unit. After trying a few other companies (who btw were not able to find out what was the problem and just keep charging me for the visits) I saw West Coast Chief Repair on the citi search. The tech that came out was very professional and helpful. He identified the problem, repaired and even followed up with a phone call the next day. The price he charged me was very low too. (Compare to others) Thank you West Coast Chief Repair. Would galdly do business with again.

Our AC unit went down over the weekend last summer on a hot day so we called them because we heard they were known for their quick service. The repairman showed up that same day. He looked at the AC unit and declared that it would cost too much to fix it but he was willing to come that Monday and install a new system for $ 2,100.00. He it was a one time deal and I would have to let him know by Monday morning. I said I would have to think about it and paid him his $60.00 service fee. I had to insist that he give me an invoice. He did not want to. I thought the whole thing was extremely fishy. My regular AC repair man showed up on Monday and fixed the AC unit for a total of $75.00. mmmhhh...

As with the other reviewers, I couldn't get a straight quote over the phone. When the guy showed up, on time I might add, things looked hopeful. Then I was told I'd need a part that would cost $200 to fix the problem. I agreed to the price (bad move on my end), and later found the part on the internet for about $25. In addition, the tech didn't notice the new part caused my unit to cycle on and off every one minute. I didn't notice the problem either, until after he left. By then it was too late. Prior to his visit the unit never cycled on and off every minute. Bottom line, the technician solved the initial problem but left me with another one. Oh, and I paid more than $200 for the visit. When all was said and done, I was left feeling I can't trust these guys and the work they do. I read other reviews on here prior to calling them out, but thought the bad reviews might have been random occurrences. Unfortunately these guys are expensive and I question their ability to fully solve the... Read more

When I called to ask their minimum rate for a service call, they wouldn't give it to me. All I needed was for them to replace a part (which I had on hand). While a simple replacement, it took the tech 20 minutes since he seemed unfamiliar with the part (luckily, the part came with instructions). Then they wanted to charge me $120. Wow, I'd like to earn the equivalent of $360 an hour! The previous company who had diagnosed the problem (they didn't have the part so I had to order it online, then I couldn't find their number to call them again) only charged me $65 for about the same length of time. I won't be using West Coast Chief Repair again, nor will I recommend them to my friends.

I actually first got acquainted with their business through my property management company. my heater stopped working last week and was emitting a strange smell i knew i couldn't trust. The manager of my building had a tech from west coast come out the next morning. he was polite and listened patiently when i explained the problem. he took about 15min to closely inspect the heater and luckily had the right parts to replace with him on his truck. i could see why the property management uses them! i would comfortably refer them to any friend or neighbor.

i've had to go through a few places in the yellow book for sub zero refrigerator repair, before I landed on this company. it seemed like they've been around for a while, and their website really put me at ease. I called them in the morning, scared of my food spoiling if I waited a day longer. they had a tech out that afternoon. english wasn't his first language, but it was enough to communicate what had to be done. the part had to be ordered, but it was affordable, even if i had to wait a few days.i'd recommend them to anyone with a broken sub zero!

Letter sent Certified Mail on October 19, 2008 to West Coast Chief Repair explaining the steps I took to resolve technicians mistake. Needed to seek alternative housing (local pet friendly hotel) due to temperatures reaching 90'c+. West Coast Chief Repair prolonged fixing their mistake and after two weeks waiting, the technician removed the incorrect motor and reinstalled original (non-functioning) motor. Also at the initial visit, the technician insisted the unit be replaced - at a cost of $5400, then lowered the price to $2300, and after my decline, offered to replace the motor at a cost of $775. When the technician realized his mistake, I was charged $175. The $175 charge consisted of an incorrect installed motor and their $55 service charge. I paid the stated amount and immediately contacted Mike at West Coast Chief Repair. After obtaining two separate opinions from HVAC professionals, I informed Mike of their findings and he offered to replace the motor. I scheduled the replacemen... Read more

I was in a serious bind a couple weeks ago when the central air went out in my 150 capacity deli on the Westside - all right before the busy lunch hour! I can't begin to say how thrilled I was when a young man from West Coast Repair arrived in less than an hour and saved me from having to close our doors and send 30 employees home! The problem ended up being no more than a damaged capacitor on the roof, but these guys pinpointed it effortlessly and had me back in business within 2 hours of my initial call to them. I want to add that there was no charge for the same-day service and the price was honest and competitive. Thanks Guys and stop buy for a free lunch anytime! Maurice, Santa Monica, CA

I called them for service because my furnace would shut off and go into safe mode. Tech came and took a look at furnace and said $215 to fix it. I asked him what he was going to do and he said he was going to clean and repair system. He said if it didin't work I owed him nothing but if it did the full $215 is due. I agreed since he made it sound like an extensive repair that warranted the $215 fee. He begins and ends his repair by inserting a metal "toothpick" into a tube to dislodge cobweb and then asked for full payment. I couldn't believe what just happened but just another example of public being swindled by a professional. Are there any honest people left? They sure don't work for this company.

II have owned two homes prior to the present one in which I live and have always dreaded having to do any major repairs or improvements. Anybody who?s had to go through it knows what a nightmare it can be working with contractors, estimates, and unmet deadlines while your home is in shambles. Apparently, the same rule does not necessarily apply to air conditioning contractors. At least it didn?t when I found out about West Coast Chief Repair and hired them to install my central a/c system. These guys completed the entire process (including city permit!) in a mind-boggling 4 days from estimate to completion! The warranty, the price, the speed, and the professionalism of these guys is remarkable. I wish all contractors were more like West Coast! Pacific Palisades, CA

I have never posted a review about anyone before I called on West Coast Chief Repair. They sent out a person who spoke no (and when I say no I mean none) English. He fixed my fridge then five weeks later the part they put in went bad. When I called them the person on the phone said that they would not charge me for the repair if the same part went bad. When the repair man came out again he tried to charge me $100.00 (when they advertised that their service call is $80.00). I ended up paying him $80.00 for the labor. A couple hours later that day I told them that now not only did my fridge not work but since the "repairman" came my freezer wasn't working either and they said to give it a few more hours. I called them a few hours later to tell them that my food was now defrosting and they really didn't seem to care saying that it wasn't their responsibility and that they would send somebody out the next day. I basically had to pay $80.00 more to have them fix the bad part that t... Read more

These guys are liars and very, very unreliable!! I made 2 appointmens with them to fix the A/C because they never showed up for the 1st appt and then was 1 DAY LATE to the 2nd appointment. I should've known from the day they came to give a quote - the guy showed up 5 minutes before the END of the 3-7pm window, and the guy was really rude and acted like he didn't want to be there. Then he never showed up for the 1st appt to fix the A/C and for the 2nd appt, he was supposed to get here by 7pm, but didn't call me until 7:45pm & told me he would rather come the next morning. So he was supposed to show up at 8am the next morning, but didn't show up until 8:30am & said he could finish in 15 mins, but didn't finish until an hour later. So rude and big liars! DON'T EVER USE THEIR SERVICE!!! The total cost came out to $750 for a condenser motor and fan blade. If my A/C breaks in a few weeks like it did for the other reviewers, I will take them to Small Claims Court for sure!
