I have been a member of the West LA Bally's for thirty years, joining when is was Holliday Health Spa. The only reason I have stayed a member is because of the indoor pool. To say that the club has been going downhill is a vast understatement, a kin to calling World War II a little skirmish The women's dressing room is filthy and not maintained. People go into the sauna in street clothing and eat fruit or whatever. Most of the time, the showers do not have hot water and the drains in the showers are often clogged and the water pools aroung your feet, never draining effectively. The floor tile is cracked and the grout is dirty so that steam cleaning is, probably, the only way to get it clean. Sinks are dirty and hair is frequently in the drains and on the counters. I am afraid to sit on the benches in front of the lockers as they look like they haven't been cleaned in years. If you take a paper towel to try to clean them up, the towel becomes covered with grey grime. The lockers are di... Read more

I have been a member at Bally's for about 8 years now. I signed up at the Puente Hills location which is clean and wonderful. I moved to West LA and the experience I've had so far has been horrible. At the other locations I would shower and change there, but now I don't even want to step foot inside the locker rooms. They are so dirty and it seems as if nobody does a damn thing about it. The people that work there are really lazy and it seems as if they don't even want to go in there because it is sooooo nasty. Please don't get me wrong, I have been in the military and lived in close living quarters and the whole bit, but this problem is just gross. If you come to this gym I would recommend just working out and leaving because the sight of that locker room is unbearable.

I just joined this gym a week ago but was impressed by the fact that it was so affordable. The staff was so willing to accommodate my requests and made me feel welcome...I like the facilities, and the fact that there are a good number of people there at any one time - without it being crowded or overbearing. I feel comfortable at this gym and didn't really recognize the reviews written below, though I noticed that a few of the really negative ones were written about 4-5 years ago. Most likely that accounts for the way different review of mine! I like this gym and think you will be hard pressed to find something comparable in the neighborhood for this price. Ongoing deals make this a great place to join. I was paying a lot more at the YMCA before I discovered this place! ;)

The Scene Most Ballys stick to the basics for their design. Televisions broadcast silently above multiple rows of cardio machines; mirrored walls act as the primary decorative components. But thanks to high-energy television ads and low-impact membership premiums, this national fitness chain has steadily attracted a clientele bent on saving money while losing weight or gaining muscle. The Workout Using fairly standard strength-training equipment and/or racks well-stocked with free weights, the best of the trainers here, who are classified at four different levels, can be as skillful as those found at costlier gyms. For group classes, signature exercise options include Spinning and Powerflex, as well as a number of patented routines inspired by Tae Kwon Do.

I am a member of Bally's and truly appreciate the fact that it's still one of the more affordable Gyms in the area. My only complaints are that the machines are a bit rundown, and the locker rooms could be cleaner. Affordable, but this location needs a remodel.

I've been a member at Bally's for over 10 years. They do try to keep up with current equipments and fitness classes. However, in the last few years the hiring of staff memebers have gone down hill. Management is pool and the staff is unfriendly. Some are rude to you if you have questions regarding the gym. The cleaning staff (male) is constantly talking and working out on their job hours. You don't even want to step into the locker room. Here are just few things I've experienced over the years. One things is for sure, no renewals here.

I've never been so dissastisfied before! It got to the point where I was so frustrated, I stood up, ripped the contract I had started to fill out and walked out. The club was poorly ventilated, but the WORST part is the STAFF. They were pushy and uninterested in my fitness goals - it made me feel extremely uncomfortable and ignored. For the amount of money you'll end up paying, I strongly recommend going to ANY of the other fitness clubs instead (24 Hr, Spectrum, Bodies in Motion etc).
