A great song w/a catchy riff. I don't know if anyone wrote this already but there was this guy who had a project where he called 867-5309 in every area code, and listed the results. It was pretty funny.

kinda burned on the song but I was watching an older episode of Family Guy the other night and Stewie was trying to call home but didn't know the number and then tried 867-5309 and then shook his fist and said "Damn you, Tommy Tutone" that was pretty funny!!!!

Tommy didn't have many songs of relevance, but this one was a keeper. This song was the "YMCA" of the 80's. Even if you didn't like it or didn't know the words, you couldn't help but shout out those numbers.

twansalem 07/10/2008
An annoying song that I can't remember any of the words to, but the sound of them singing the phone number repeats inside my head over and over after hearing this song. In fact rating this item is enough to make it happen.
VirileVagabond 07/15/2006
Who can deny the most famous telephone number in music history? "867-5309/Jenny" is not only a great song (well, perhaps not back in 1982, though it is now), but the track is also instantly recognizable to people of several generations. Jenny and her now famous number charted in the U.S. for 16 weeks in 1982, peaking at #4. The long-term influence of "867-5309/Jenny" is also evidenced by the number and diversity of the artists who have covered the song (e.g. Less Than Jake (highly recommended), Bracket (also good), Crease, Affected, and the Chevelles). VH1 ranked the single at #59 on its list of the greatest one hit wonders. [Note to some of the others posting a comment, Tommy Tutone is a band, not a person.]
trebon1038 07/03/2006
I wonder how many people had to change their phone numbers after this song came out!
souljunkie 10/27/2005
Agreat little pop rock song. I gotta tap my toe and sing to that hook every time.
numbah16tdhaha 10/27/2005
Even people who don't really know the song can still go nuts on the number. I hear its the most crank called number out there.
