Abigail Adams took an open stand for women's rights when it was unheard of. And she was married to one of the most aloof, cold men ever to be elected President. For that she deserves great credit.

Educated, cultured and worldly, Abigail Adams was the quintessential First Lady. A leader on her own, she was John Adams's most trusted advisor and the first First Lady to be both married to a President and be a mother to another.

My favorite of the first ladies and a role model of mine, she was certainly a unique woman of the time. Highly intelligent and wise, she and John Adams probably shared the deepest relationship of all the presidents and their wives. She is unequalled in her importance as first lady due to the amazing marriage she had with her husband. He treasured both her, her opinions and her advice. Without her, I doubt Adams would have been the great man he was.

She and John Adams were awesome. I don't understand why there's no movie that capitalizes on the heroism of the founding fathers, and uses the incredible correspondence between these two as a romantic hook. She was very smart, brave and supportive of her great husband.
