Newport 100

I've smoke newport 100's for 15 years and for some reason they don't taste like menthol anymore. I bought a carton and thought they were stale as they just didn't taste right. Had my husband smoke one and he agreed. I even went to a different store to purchase a single pack thinking i just got a bunk carton. But that too did not taste right. I've come to the conclusion they don't taste like menthol anymore, am I the only one exeriencing this? If not anybody know what's going on?

as i said in my review of the king size newports, they unfortunately have a bad/ghetto image but every now and again ill buy a pack of newport and once i finish the pack i almost feel less trashy and glad to be done with them. 2.5/5 for the 100s

these are ok...i had to smoke one after finishing a FSC marlboro that tasted like shit and made me want to vomit.

shorts are better in tast...but you get more for thwe same price with the 100s...boom their you go get some and smoke smoke somke

I would never ever smoke anything else. A friend got me started smoking last year (my choice) and well he didn't know that it was my first time so he got me a pack of Newport 100's and i will admit my first one was rough but by the time i smoked my 9th im lovin 'em. If you were to do a survey of my school you'd find that roughly 95% of the smokers smoke Newport 100's.

I'm 33 and new to smoking but quickly picked up that I enjoyed menthol cigarettes over the regular tobacco. I started with Misty's and graduated to Virginia Slims but decided to give Newports a try when a friend told me that most menthol smokers prefer this brand.

My God! Horrible can't even begin to describe these things. First of all, the pack I got had cigarettes that were loosely rolled. Not the point where they were falling apart, but even the lightest drag brought in a TON of smoke. This might be desireable for some, but I'm not fond of flash fire cigarettes. At the rate I was going, the one cigarette would have been burned completely through with four drags. I don't like to get my nicotine that fast...gives me a headache.

Another thing was that the smoke wasn't very smooth. The menthol was o.k., but pricier brands have enough in it to leave a pleasant tingling sensation in my mouth. Newports only left a bitter smoke flavor.

It's cheaper than many of the other brands, which I suspect is the main reason for its popularity, but you get what you pay for. Another reviewer used alcohol as an analogy for this brand...I'll do the same here.

Newports are like the Old Milwaukee of the cigarette world. Tastes like crap, but you buy it 'cause it's cheap and probably what you started out on when you were a broke kid. If you end up a broke adult, you might even convince yourself that you prefer the flavor over the rest. But the truth is that this stuff is crap.

newport 100s are amazing and no other cigarette can stand in comparison!!! i am 13 and smoke 10 cigarettes to a pack a day. newports are the only cigarette that has a good menthal besides camel crushes but ewww camels.lol. most people around me under the age of 25 smoke newports and all the black people. they cost around 8$ in my city but their well worth it. honestly, im 16. im gonna share my opinion about these god amazing things. i dont know why i smoke them, since my aunt just died of lung cancer from being a longterm newport smoker when she was a teenager. but nothing beats the strong menthol taste, and i cant stand regular tobacco that isnt menthol. menthol just gives it that zing, you know? its so hard for me to switch brands, i mean occasionally from a friend i bum a camel or marb, but newport 100s are truely my favorite. im 16 and lead a very stressful life, im already addicted. go ahead, shoot me. i guarantee more than half of you started around my age, when they were 50 cents a pack. they make these things $8 a pack here in new york state, they even make 100s more expensive! because they know that kids think 100s have more tobacco, so the kids all buy newport 100s. which is true, most kids do just to look cool. they know who they are targetting. newports werent always the "cool" cig. but they just taste so damn good. kids underage will still find ways to get them, no matter how old they raise the age, so they are stupid and need to mind their own business. people smoke, its our problem. its great they care, but whatever happened to a free country.

very good menthol, smokes for a decent amount of time. very expensive 7.10 a pack here in new jersey but i guess thats always the average for any pack of smokes. if you like menthol these are for you.

i tried dumaurier edition and players smooth, they both left my throat scratchy and red. i tried benson and hedges silver, amazing smooth taste but felt so dizzy after 1 cig. is rothmans just as bad as those ones? im looking at gauloises blondes ultra light...i dont know anymore. im in canada, maybe you can help. thanks.

Really far too much cigarette for my tastes.

This is the best factory cigarette you can possibly buy. Strong on menthol flavor, and tons of nicotine to keep you fiending for another cigarette for a while. These last around 6-10 minutes too. It's just perfect. These are the best tasting cigarettes, and they are no doubt the most economic cigarette you can get your hands on for a factory cigarette.

the only things better than these are camel crushes.
they have an enormous amount of nicotine and last forever... i can finish a regular cigarette in 2 minutes, but these take at least 5.

These are even worse than normal Newports because since they're 100's, the torture lasts even longer. Way too expensive, and again, FIBERGLASS IN THE FUCKING FILTER!!!! And no, they are not like bacardi, they are like shitty ass bottomshelf vodka that choke and gag you all the way down. Marlboro Smooths are way better if your looking for a menthol hit.

I call these Killa 100s cause nothing compares to them. Long lasting, smooth, hardcore level of nicotine, and most people can't hang with them so you don't have to share your pack with friends who smoke regs or lights. Menthol's gross, they taste really cheap.

Like the standard Newports, the 100s contain the same low grade tobacco and weak menthol coolness. The taste is very subpar and ashy. The only redeeming quality these cigarettes possess is the wonderful, and I mean wonderful, nicotine buzz they deliver. A 2/5.

Don't know about you but I'm going to look really cool w/these babies rolled up in my sleeve-50's style.  And I'm going to strike the match on an unfinished lazy susan just to prove my point.

The thing about these cigarettes is that they taste totally different than the short 'ports.... and not in a good way.   If you want to sacrifice the taste for a longer smoke... then more power to you, they are the same price.  But for the rest of us who do like the taste of a good strong menthol (and 'ports are just that) then go for the shorts.  why? 1) they dont take 10 minutes to finish one (slight hyperbole, but you get it) 2) shorts fit better in a pocket 3)the cherry on the 100's tend to put themselves out if you leave them alone for 30 seconds, like when you have to drive, get my drift?  4) probably the most important point i have... i truly believe that the short 'ports will give you more enjoyment from your smoke, whether it be while driving, hanging out, or on one of those pitiful 2 minute smokebreaks at work.

Do these give you just as strong of a buzz as the shorter newport menthals?

Actually, I am a nonsmoker. But I remember the first time I had Newport. It was outside of Fort Jackson. I was staying at Motel 8. I remember sitting outside on a bench when a beautiful young woman sat at the other end of the bench to smoke. I asked for a smoke, we talked. Well, it was a very lucky smoke for me that night. Never did tell her I don't like to smoke.

  He lit the cigarette and smoked it down to the filter in one breath. He silently thanked the cigarette company for being thoughtful enough about his health to include a filter to protect him. So he lit up another. This time he didn't exhale the squeaky-clean filtered smoke, but just let it nestle in his lungs, filling his body with that good menthol flavor. Some more smokers knocked on his door and they came in and all started smoking along with him. "How wonderful it is that we're all smoking," he thought. Everyone smoked and smoked and after they smoked they all talked about smoking and how nice it was that they were all smokers and then they smoked some more. Smoke, smoke, smoke, they all sang "Smoke That Cigarette" and "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes". Then Smokers smoked one more cigarette and left him alone in his easy chair about to relax and enjoy a nice quiet smoke.  And then his lips fell off..

i feel like a poser though wen i smoke them all my mexican and black friends smoke them...

My first year smoking these were my regulars. What a horrible choice that was. Menthol all the time will just start to taste like shit after a while. Once I started smoking non-menthol's (real cigarettes) more often, I realized cigarettes aren't supposed to feel fresh and minty,but that they are supposed to taste rich and flavorful.
I will admit though, because these were my first and I smoked them for so long, I do get cravings for them time to time.

I prefer 100's over regulars, although a ot of people critisize me over it though. I think the taste is amazing, and the menthol isn't as horrible as cheaper menthol brands. They are said to be worse than regular cigarettes, but when you think about it, smoking by itself is bad, and the good part is you can't chain smoke 100's, and they leave you wanting another much longer than marlboros.

After his 'review' of this product, do you still 'trust' mattyk?

newport 100s...these are the cigarettes I started out on.  I didn't know they were some of the most..*ahem*.."potent" cigs out there.  I became addicted shortly and switched up to a slew of other brands to try them all out....but every once in awhile, I go to the gas station and get me a pack of newport 100s.  The smell and taste of these cigarettes brings back so many memories of the summer of 07, my first months of smoking.  I felt like such a "bad kid" when I smoked them, and now, a year later, even the box design fires off those little memory-feelings in my brain.  Newport 100s have a small place in my heart for that reason.

Cigarettes are terrible. I quit smoking 4 weeks ago. Doesn't matter what cigarettes they are, as soon as you quit... You realize how terrible they are.

If this were the only cig on earth, I would certainly not be smoking. Harsh smoke that seems to contain a lot more sticky stuff, and despite the bug-killing nicotine level, the rush is unwholesome and proceeded by a headache.

Around here we call them N*ggerports, they have a horrible menthol taste, if you can even taste that over the fiberglass; good for getting yourself sick. Pass on these.

Horrible horrible taste. They will leave their disgusting taste in your mouth for much longer than youd expect. Dont believe me? Steal a pack from one of the negros at your local basketball court.

Just as good as the kings but a little longer. The flavor isn't as intense but you still get a great nicotine buzz with a good flavor. Definitely the best brand on the market.

Suggestion for the bee: quit smoking, and you don't have to worry about getting sick, now or in the future (hopefully).
