It used to be funny with all the different voices, but that is rare now. These days, Phil discusses the news of the day. He is sometimes off base, however, and sometimes plays a little fast and loose with the facts. For example, last night, he said the "tea party" on Thursday had been organized for month, so the turnup of 10,000 was not very good. He is mistaken. This one only had three days' notice. Just wanted to correct the record. I like Phil, but he should do better research. He often repeats the conventional wisdom when it's not correct.

just found Mr Hendrie here (Boston). So funny I couln't believe my ears. Smart as all getout... Five stars. That was written back in 08. Today it's August 09. Since then I find Mr Hendrie just a little bit liberal. Not too, too -- just a bit. Enough to make coasttocoast somewhat more enticing. Or our local overnight host --- also a liberal --- more soothing. He stays almost completely away from major opining about big things, yet lets You-the-Caller say it long and loud. Nevertheless Phil Hendrie is so sharply intelligent it's hard to stay away for long. As if! As if I am awake enough nights to listen to any of the late night radio! I really laughed so hard the night the 'female' political commentator was interviewed about women running for President. <back when Hillary was still up for the job> This 'woman', a die-hard women's equality proponent nevertheless got into the topic of the 'blood, oh the blood, the sheets, wrapping this sheet and oh,....down your legs' I die... I'm another long time fan since the first KFI day in LA when Phil was in his absolute prime. Although I often do not agree with his politics, in my opinion he's one of the most talented personalities anywhere. (Radio or TV) In fact...Fuck it, he's #1. Regarding his current passion, I'll give him a pass as it would be extremely difficult for anyone to do what he does night after night, especially considering he's almost frickin 60. (I believe 56-57-ish) Soooo...Consider yourself quite lucky to have the opportunity to have found this guy. Listen carefully and you will find a very good guy with a kind heart and a talent like no other. The funniest show ever is when his "guest" was mowing his lawn and a neighbor saw him over the rear fence sucking a dick cicle. Almost died it was so funny. (OK Phil....I want that $20.00 you owe me. Just kidding) One awesome talent.

Hendrie's a Joker - that's the whole point of his show. He isn't serious about any of his commentary in any way, shape or form. Thought he was out of his mind the first few minutes I listened, then realized he's not serious about anything. Good late-night keep ya awake humor.

Been a listener since his first night on KFI after he replaced Mr.KFI. He was a genious and his shows for many years were the best thing on radio. I almost drove my car off the road a few times from laughing at his bits. Seems now though he's lost it somehow. Apparently he doesn't take callers anymore which was 80% of what made the show funny. Also he is in a bad time slot for most of the eastern US which is where I am. His politics and way of talking over people who disagreed with him were always annoying but the comedy made up for it. Now it's different and he seems tired and less inspired than the old Phil we all knew before. He left what he did best (radio) and then tried to come back. But I'm guessing he pissed off a bunch of people when he did that so now he's paying the price. I heard also he got divorced so maybe that is a factor also. He doesn't sound as happy as he did before. A happy Phil in a good time slot with callers would be a LOT better for him AND us listeners IMO.

Why the fuck are people so uptight about a difference of opinion?  If Phil Hendrie's politics annoy you, just don't listen. Who cares. I still think he's funny.  I don't agree with half the shit Bill Mahr says, but he's fuckin' funny. Lighten up Danger. UNLESS, you're messin' around in the true spirit of Hendrie by saying something outrageously stupid and irrate in order to piss off all these people posting bulletins.... you know what... i'm onto you Dangger. I'm on to you.

It was a great show. I'm saying WAS because it now stinks. He just blabs about how great Bush is when I think he stinks (and I'm a conservative). What broke the camel's back was when I was listening to his broadcast for the first time after about an 18 month break away from him. All he did was praise Illegal Aliens and criticized how lazy American citizens are and how illegals should be treated like saints. Just in case Phil reads my review here's what I want to tell him: "Phil, I want to thank you for entertaining me for those several years. I really think you had a great show (during the KFI years). However, now you're a traitor to the American people. Your praise for illegal aliens made a LEGAL immigrant like me sick to my stomach. You are so DISCONNECTED from the law abiding legal citizens. Your show now stinks. I wouldn't download it for free. I don't wish you ill fate. However, you deserve what ever your career gets coming its way."

Phil's Show was the greatest until his national syndication where it went into the toilet real fast. Toward the end you could tell how much he hated his job and talk radio in general. In the early days in Miami he did some of the greatest radio ever. Once he got the big bucks it went straight to his head. Instead of doing the characters he was so good at he would blather about like one of the thousands of Limbaugh clones. It was really sad to see. He also couldn't stop with the look at me, look at me, I'm the guy in the box. He was so insecure with himself, he constantly had tell everyone the gag. Once everyone knew what was happened the callers dropped off. At this point Phil would blow his stack when there were no good callers. I was really fooled by this guy; he seemed a genuine cool guy, but sadly really was a pathetic loser. My advice to Phil....join the scientologists they seem to help everyone :)

The Phil Hendrie Show is the greatest show in radio history, and that doesn't even do it justice. Phil Hendrie is a comic genius and unfortunately his talent has gone unnoticed by the general public. Host can be very entertaining if he doesn't get too ridiculous. The best parts are the music and noises he uses to 'distract' himself as well as the insults he hurls at unsuspecting callers.

This show was OK for a while but really stared to suck at the end. The host pretty much struggled for new material after the first year. People grew tired of the lack of material and ended up canceling the show. The host made a pathetic attempt at trying to convince listeners that he was quitting. Quitting! Yeah right! Good for AM radio. Good riddance to the comedic wantabe!

His show will not last much longer because I personally feel this perverse acting has done him physiological and physical damage. How could a person do a show like this year after year and not have any emotional turmoil? Its always the same, perverse child porn type sexual content mixed in with a bunch god hate. It isnt funny at all, its disgusting and an embarrassing chapter in radio history. Take Care Sweet Feathery Phil!

Really funny! I love the characters. I even enjoy listening to Phil as himself just talking about his life. I get sick of all the pro Bush stuff, because I think Bush is a moron. Saying that you support him lumps you into a group of people that are very unappealing. Too bad that Phil took that route. I think it is a mistake...especially the way things are going right now with the Bush administration.

funny how all the preceding criticism relies solely on his alleged "politics". actually that is a bit misleading because they do not argue against his positions per se, but just lambast him with rhetoric. these zealots let political affiliation - not politics pertaining to debate - govern their daily lives: where to get coffee in the morning, what newspaper to read, where to go grocery shopping etc. they do not realize how their ignorance pigeonholes their intelligence. to the issue at hand: hendrie is brillinat. i have discovered his show recently, and listen to him every night while i study or do homework... it provides appropriate comic relief. someone mentioned innovative as an appropriate way to concisely summarize the show. i personally could not agree more. even after the shock wears off that all his guests are himself, the humor of the show persists, and it is of great interest to determine whether the callers are hendrie fans who are just trying to get airtime, or callers who... I only found the show maybe a year ago, but I stumbled upon it one night, and heard one of the "characters" explaining why blacks owe HIM reparations. He was white & said that his great great grandfather (i think) had slaves and when slavery ended his business went belly up and he & the family went into poverty because of it. Alright, i can't explain it well, but if anyone heard that one.. i laughed so much i thought i was going to puke. When I first listened, i thought it was real, till it went way overboard later that night. & i didn't know for quite some time that it was he that was doing the characters. NO show like this one. It's the only show i actually turn my tv off & lay on the couch to listen 2 at home. ;0

Phil's concept is hilarious, and I've enjoyed his bits over the years. I used to be able to listen daily, and the hilarity is in not knowing exactly how far he'll take the joke. That having been said though, the politics wears thin and it's completely misplaced. It might be different if it added to an existing act or in itself was compelling. It's not. And his listeners appreciate the farce and humor, not necessarily tuning in to a pro-Bush commercial, and I think his bits have suffered greatly for his proselytizing. Hendrie stuck to what he's classically done well -- comic farce -- versus a feeble attempt at being a Limbaugh/Hannity/O'Reilly clone. Otherwise, Hendrie's comic genius and wit are exceptional in his characters, and I look forward to more of him and hope he gets his act together to take to a wider audience.

Hendrie rocks. Plain and simple. He's got the most original show in the history of radio. So he interjects politics sometimes. Every damn star in hollywood interjects politics every time they fart in public. Let Phil be Phil and when we've finished kicking terrorist ass he will be back to comedy 100% of the time. Until then just shut your pie hole and enjoy the laughs.

OMG....get over the fact that he puts in about an hour of political commentary a week, and just listen to the show. If you could calm your beating heart for about 10 minutes, you would hear quite possible the funniest and most talented man to ever hit the airwaves. If you have listened since his early days in LA and Miami, you can see his progression. He used to commentate about his personal life every day in between "callers". But now he fills the extra hour with small bits that are borderline hilarious...have you heard his "Rap Radio"? Unbelievable. Unfortunately, the people upset here are the same ones who were suckered into the show to begin with, and fell for the "obviously" outrageous bits. Kudos to Phil....keep on keepin on.

Oh Phil, you used to be funny. I grew up in the Valley, just like ol' Phil - but I still have my sense of humor and ability to listen thoughtfully to those that have different opinions than I do...but then, I'm not a talk radio host - I guess that's the litmus test, you have to suck GW's ass or you get dropped. But Phil went from the #4 station in L.A. to #26!! Nice work Phil, you and the Mancow can spend your retirement telling each other how bleeping brilliant you were, and us normal schlubs just didn't get you. Shut up!

Nah! This guy blows! This guy is so scared of being called just another Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'reilly, that he claims that he is in fact a liberal democrat and not a just another run of the mill conservative infesting the radio waves. But we know better. You're not fooling anybody Phil! Besides, the guy is so full of himself. He's so set in his ways that he DOES NOT accept any views that differ from his own. So much so that in his show, he debates with HIMSELF! And he always wins! That's the Phil Hendrie Show! And if some poor bastard happens to get through his show and talk to Phil, this old, white, bald, angry, geezer barks him down if the listener says something that rubs Phil the wrong way (it always happens). And then it's back to talking and debating with himself! He invites you to go to his blog to read his views but if you make the mistake of posting a comment, good luck! You have better luck posting a comment and seeing published at Fidel Castro's blog. Phil will NOT to... Read more

3 hours of masterbation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Outside of Lee Klein and Romey your entire station is turning into crap. Clarabelle the clown in the morning. Laker Kiss Ass Show in the afternoon. Two more clowns from 4 to 7. Phil Hendrie is the greatest waste of air time ever. Your whole station is sinking or is it sucking? After listening to your station since about 1991, all i can say it now makes ESPN radio and even Petros sound like Vin Scully and Dick Enberg.

Interesting show. I like others am a little annoyed and disinterested when he starts to launch into his right wing tirades all of which have been done better by Rush, Hannity, etc. It's a comedy show for God's sake, so just stick to the comedy. His idea behind the show is brilliant and at first, he had me believing that his was a real show with real guests. It is worth checking into despite the political content. Lately, phil has been putting his lame political rants onto his own blog so his radio audience does not have to hear his warmed over ramblings. Funny.

I used to listen to Phil on a regular basis until after he flew to New York after 9/11 saw the hole in the ground THEN LOST HIS MIND he came back screaming war and kill the rag heads, then told the dems and anyone else who disagrees (they don't get it) often repeating Rush the drugies talking points. He's Right I don't get it. I also don't get the constant lying he do's. Just today he said Cindy Sheehan (quit) now every body knows she going back to washington but like Rush, Shawn Hannity, G.W. Bush all the other's they just can't help them-selves. Lying is like breathing to them. George Bush is god? wow why don't he marry him (he he) seriously if God bare's any resemblance to Bush then I must be praying to the devil. It's one thing to hear the man slagged by idiots who don't get it, entirely another to hear whining from folks who disagree with his alleged politics. Whatever criticisms one might have of Phil's show must be tempered by comparing what he does to absolutely anything else in talk radio, get outta here, man......there's no comparison. His political rants can get tiresome, but he needs to fill the space between characters with something, and that involves acting like a typical radio blowhard - by definition, lame - before it was Bush and war, it was something else just as annoying. I didn't like it when he used to pass an hour with some left-wing tirade, but that didn't stop me from loving the show, I guess his lib hipster fans are a bit less forgiving than I am. It would be nice to be able to track down every bit you want to hear again, and the website is more than a little substandard when it comes to that, but so what? That criticism goes to the site, not the show......and why are you ... Read more

Enjoying the backstage pass, devoid of commercials and at my fingertips for only seven snaps a month. On the other hand, I'm trying to remember, exactly when it ever was, that I used to think that the Air America Puipis was ever actually funny. Like, maybe the second time I ever saw him as Stuart Small. Honestly, can you actually deny to yourself the incredulity that there was ever even a movie made based on this character? Compare, contrast - discuss amongst your selves. The empty star is symbolic of the Philsters steady course of continuous improvement.

Simply the best radio program in existance. I suspect that some of the critics of the show are just bitter because their Air America affiliate dropped the utterly LAME Mike Malloy in favor of the tremendous talent that is Phil Hendrie.
