Kyle Giffen said the tattoo would take 5-6 hours and he charged $100 a hour. He said I needed to pay up front. He charged my card $500 and the tattoo was done just under 2 hours. Do the math... should have been a $200 tattoo not $500. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

While you're receiving your artwork, you will also be entertained! To all the "bad" reviews, It's a 'TATTOO PARLOR', man-up and grow some balls of steel ;) I'll be coming back for sure! Much love, guys.

i went to Platinum my first time just after i turned 17 to get my belly pierced...i was nervous and wasnt really sure about how much it would hurt...at this time i LOVED needles (shots, getting blood drawn, etc.) and when i got there it wasnt busy at all...went on a sunday when they were having the specials...all the people woking were very freindly and helpful. anyway i chose my jewelry and went into the room and prepared myself..it wasnt bad AT ALL!! i watched the whole thing! however 2 years later i got a tattoo on my lower right back done on my front porch by a freind (bad idea)...it hurt a lil but i passed out twice...and it looks HORRIBLE! but a year later for my 20th bday i went to the new Platinum Ink and got my nose pierced...that hurt worse than my belly did...idk if my pain tolerence is going down or wat but i nearly passed out when i got it pierced...i now want a tattoo of a celtic butterfly between my shoulder blades and i am terrified that its gonna hurt like hell..but im... I first went with my roommate to get her nose pierced. It was insanely busy, but I won't hold that against them. We just browsed the flash tattoos while we waited to keep us entertained since all of the sofas and arcade games were being used. It only took about 15 minutes for them to call her name after she signed papers, despite how packed the place was. We went in, and the whole thing happened really fast. The piercer seemed very unfriendly and rushed. He ushered us in and out so quickly it felt insulting and rude. I tried to ask him a few questions about a piercing I already had and he wasn't very friendly. It just seemed like we were bothering him and he didn't have time to do anything except take our cash and run. Despite that, I went back on a discount night to get my tragus pierced. Luckily the place was less crowded and I got a different piercer (a younger guy). He was much nicer and more personable, and we joked around. He took his time but I appreciated it. The piercing was ... Read more

So I went into Platinum Ink on recommendation by a friend. She told me that this place was extremely clean and really prided themselves on it. All I really needed was a cover up. The original tattoo was terribly done by a bad artist back in the day. And, yes, bad aftercare, too. I checked out Chris Chaos' portfolio and really liked what I saw. Good, clean lines. I loved his black and grey work; and his cover-ups were awesome! Better yet, I had checked out several shops before I walked into Platinum and they all basically laughed me out the door! I didn't look like the "tattoo collector" type, so no one would take me seriously. But Chaos was very nice and respectful. He didn't look down on me because I wasn't tattooed from head to toe. So I made an appointment. He took my idea and mixed it with his; he really caught my vision. I loved it! I was thrilled! No complaints! Nice, funny guy. He gave me exactly what I wanted! I'll be back for more!

Platinum ink customer appreciation days are great for piercings. I have no problem saying that me and my best friend have had several done between the two of us. However I recently got a tattoo from Chaos. Sorry to say it but he gave me a tattoo I could barely sleep with at night. If it wasn't for Jim at True Blue I would be pricing tattoo removals right now. Be cautious Chaos is the kind of guy that will tattoo portions of your tattoo and choose to leave other portions out. BEFORE letting you know what portions hes gonna leave out. Not professional at all in my opinion. Save your time and your money. Mostly save your body. ITs forever.

so i usually go amillion, high recommend them, but i was strapped for cash and heard about the "amazing sunday deal" and went there to get my monroe done, but instead of being $15 like advertised it was $25, still cheaper than most places, they said 15 minute wait and it was more like 35, still no big deal and something i could look past since its not a long wait for a tattoo shop, the first bad thing i noticed was the amount of people being pushed in and out of the place. finally my name is called and after being mocked by other customers for my full name being called out to be called back and i go into the room, the guy seemed nice and i explained how i have already had lip piercings with snake bites and know how it will all go done. he cleans me up like normal and then puts the needle through on the inside, which i thought was strange, most are from outside to the in. then he makes the biggest mistake, he put the needle in too far and the skin closed up in the back, so i'm sitting t... When people go to a concert they usually get a t-shirt so they can remember the experience, well let's just say that I got the t-shirt and the band's autograph. OOH-OHH!! My Platinum Ink visits (PLURAL) have been great. I have gone on the weekends and on "Wednesday Special Day" and CHAOS & JUSTIN are the world's most perfect tattoo artists' ever!!! Forget diva Kat V.D., these 2 men are way more superior...."We're not worthy...We're not worthy!!! This "tat hut" has SUPER CLEAN ROOMS, GREAT ARTISTS AND the PRICES are reasonable. PLUS...if you want to see an interesting piercing...just ask Justin to say AAAHHHH...*WINK*WINK* I will be back on Wednesday already...totally addicted....

I have gone to Platinum Ink twice on their "Wednesday special", and have had a great experience both times. They were very friendly, helpful, personable, and listened well to what I wanted! They keep a really clean facility. Not everyone has that. Chaos is off the hook with his jokes and stories and will keep you entertained during your "EXPERIENCE" . Justin is quiet but a really great artist. I highly recommend going there. See you soon Chaos!! And will be giving you an elbow, okay B! Oh, yeah pss, psss (spray bottle).

My sister recommended this place. I have traveled long and far. And have never been into TATS....but recently given the VIP treatment at Platinum Ink. I have come to appreciate the art work these artist create. I look forward to my 3rd tattoo. My first "Tattoo" has a very special meaning, my entire family has the same one. Yes, trusting these guys to ink exactly what you want on your body is easy....because they will not only listen to what YOU want but make recommendations, after all they are the ONE's doing the work. The staff are professional. The black scrubs are a cute touch. Their people skills rock. These are the most necessary skills needed for Anyone to touch my skin.....I mean if you can actually have a smoke with one of the artist on break what more can you f....in ask for.

There's a difference between body modification and mutilation. I went to Platinum about a year ago to have my outer labia pierced. Over a year later, they still weren't healed. I went to my friend, a master piercer to ask why. First, it seems that the gauge used was far too small. Typically, surface piercings should be a 12 gauge, at the smallest. I was pierced with a 14. Second, the diameter of the rings pinched the area and didn't allow a flesh tunnel to form. So, I'm out over a hundred bucks and am left with mounds of scar tissue where my piercings should be. Yeah, there is a difference between mutilation and modification. Sometimes, it comes down to the skill level of your piercer. Let it be said that I've been pierced by novices before. But they are usually experienced at full-disclosure and tend lower their prices accordingly. Some advice, Radar, don't pierce outside your skill level. Badly executed piercings can create PERMANENT damage.

I got my second Tattoo at Platinum Ink. The Artists were very experienced and friendly. I brought my own design in and they helped me modify it to make it look even better than I could imagine. The rooms are private and VERY clean. I needed to find a new artist as I am from out of town going to school here. I did go to several other studios, but decided to get my work done at Platinum Ink because of the great people working there. The other studios I visited were not interested in helping me and not as clean. They made me feel comfortable and worked with me even though I am a very picky person. I would highly recommend Platinum Ink. I also got my navel peirced on their special Sundays. They were very busy, but it was worth the wait! Since then, I have recommended many of my friends, and they have had the same great service! Thank you Platinum Ink!!

This is the worst customer service experience I have ever had from a service establishment. From the time I got the tattoo until the time I finally got them to allow me in to do the touchup. My small tattoo all but flaked off in pieces due to a product they sold me to care for it, I was "reprimanded" by another tattoo artist there for touching the tattoo while I was talking to them(yes, he raised his voice), and every excuse was made for my touchup not to happen and was continuously postponed. Finally when I got my touchup done, I wanted to add something around the tattoo, while he was in there doing the touchup, as a paying customer, as another tattoo, and due to the fact that the artist was upset to have to do the touchup, he simply told me that he "did not want to do the other tattoo". He stated that he didn't have to do any tattoo he didn't feel like doing. Imagine that in a tattoo shop. Hmmm. All I can say is hold on for the ride if you are getting a tattoo here.

I've gone to Platinum twice for piercings, first for my tongue and second for my lip. With my tongue, I was 17, and obviously nervous, it took them over 30 mins to get me in for the piercing and when they did, the piercer (who's name I don't know) was completely RUDE. I didn't get to ask any questions and he practically ripped my tongue out, pierced it, and kicked me out. When I got my lip it was worse...the piercer (whos name I don't know, again) was even ruder than the first, I moved my arm before he started the piercing, and he snapped at me. He didn't verbally give me any aftercare instructions (which the first piercer did) and he also basically kicked me out afterwards. My tongue started getting infected about a week after it was done, but I luckily got it cleared up quickly. My lip was another story, the hoop (which isn't good for initial piercings anyway) was too tight, even after the swelling went down and it caused the hole to heal curved (which I wasnt told would happen) afte... I've gone in there three times, twice to get piercings, and another time with my friend to get her tattoo. The first time in there, they weren't the nicest guys I've ever met, but they weren't rude. The piercings I have received there refused to heal. Since taking them out, I have had them re-pierced at other places, and they have healed just fine. Most piercing artists I have gone to since then have told me that Platinum Ink is the worst place to go, they use sub-par jewelry and have sub-par piercers. The saying 'you get what you pay for' is very true in this case. Being a person with sensitive skin, it's necessary to have very sterile jewelry. My experience with my friend and her tattoo is what upsets me the most. My friend is no artist, but she wanted to give the tattoo artist an idea of what she wanted, so she scribbled it up on a piece of paper. The guy told her he could work with it. I wasn't allowed to go back into the room (I don't know why someone can't sit back there and at l... Read more

It was OK and nothing else. It wasn't exceptionally good infact, it was almost a bad expirence. When we pulled up to the place it I thought I had gone to the wrong place. It looked little green run down shak. It was so tiny. It was very crowded. It was HOT there was only ONE fan in the very small waiting room. It was suckish inside too. I waited over an hour to get my peircing and the people there wern't all that friendly anyway. So it was finally my turn, and it took them all of about 2 minutes to peirce my nose. So I was thinking that if there wern't that many people in front of me and it didn't take that long for them to do either of my peircings WHY DID IT TAKE THEM AN HOUR AND A HALF TO GET TO US? The guy who did my nose was ok but he wasn't all that friendly. Whatever I feel bad for dragging my buddy there to get a peircing too My budy called his friend to tell her he got his peircing and she asked where he got it done he said "Platinum Ink"... Read more

Platinum Ink was by far the best tattoo parlor I have been to. Everyone was very friendly and they make you feel really comfortable. Other tattoo artists that I have dealt with act like they have better things to do than work with you and at Platinum Ink they took the time to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. They never once got frustrated or annoyed. They made sure it was right so I would be 100% satisfied. I no longer need to shop around for another shop. I wil continue to go to Platinum Ink from now on.

I went to several tattoo studios looking for the right artist to do my new tatttoo. I already knew what I wanted and had a drawing with me of what I wanted. It was fairly complex and large, so I wanted an experienced artist who was familiar with what I wanted and was looking for a good price. I visited Platinum Ink first and then went to three other studios. Platinum Ink impressed me way beyond my expectations in comparison with the other studios I had visited. The people working there were extremely helpful and gave me suggestions on how to place my tattoo so it would look the best. The other studios were not nearly as helpful. This wasn't my first tat, so I knew what to expect. These guys are terrific. Their work is very articulate and I was completely comfortable in the private rooms. I would highly recommend Platinum Ink and am looking forward to my next tattoo. I also went Platinum Ink for my piercing, (cartilage) and that was the best service I had ever recieved at a ... I went when it was really busy. I can't say the service was the best I could have hoped for, but under the circumstances it was really good. There must have been 25 people there waiting to get helped, and I still got all my questions answered fairly quickly. Even though they were short with me I didn't feel like they were rude, just really busy and trying to get to everyone. So I SAY GOOD JOB AND THANKS FOR THE $15 PIERCING.....I will tell my friends to go there.

I went in for a fairly simple, yet very sentimental piece representing my newborn son. The guy I spoke with was a real arrogant j erk. He couldn't even give directions over the phone--his attitude was SO bad. Not only did he talk to me like a child and was just as rude as could be, he even refused to do my tat. In fact, he insulted me, told me it would not be possible (again, a very simple piece) and stated "you can dance around it as much as you want, that won't look good and I won't do a tattoo that you are going to hate 3 months down the road." I was disgusted and insulted, as well as miffed at his ignorance. I went right down the road to Atomic Ink, and told the artist what I wanted. He had no problems with the design and did a fantastic job!! The piece is just beautiful and I will treasure it forever!!!! Don't fall for Platinum Ink's commercials for "affordable tattoos." The guy clearly had no artistic talent or any people skills for that matter. It's just a hole in the wa... Read more

I had patronized this establishment 2 times before to buy jewelry. During both those visits I received excellent, friendly, and attentive service. This is why I was so shocked during my latest and last expereince. The guy who served me was rude and unfreindly--very unwilling to answer my questions and concerns and seemed more interested in insulting me and my intelligence than helping me. Then when I asked for someone else another dude came out and he was almost as bad. Just rude, plain and simple. Treated me as if I were vermin. If the stainless jewlery werent so inexpensive the place would have no saving grace. I will never ever go back to this place again. If you want to be made to feel like an idiot for shopping someplace--this is the place for you!

I only read the positive reviews of this place before I went in...I guess I should have read the negative too. The one person I dealt with there was incredibly rude - possibly the worst service experience I ever experienced. I don't expect much from a tattoo place, but I got the impression after reading their site that they'd work with me. He was completely unwilling to provide any guidance or help with a design. I had to go there with exactly what I wanted...even after looking through their designs, he said I'd be better off "finding one on the internet.." That was my ticket to get out of that place. A bunch of tattoo snobs: avoid!

Went in with money in hand ready to get a tattoo and the people there were enough for me to talk myself out of it. I am still getting the tattoo, just not there. Unfriendly, rude, tattoo snobs. If you don't have full sleeves of burning skulls prepare to be made unwelcome. I don't know how the artists are, but I know they wouldn't even try to draw what I was describing. Completely unwilling to collaborate. Just flat out a creepy place. I wouldn't recommend going inside, let alone getting a tattoo here.

This has got to be one of the worst studios to go to in Texas. Its no secret either! Feel free to ask around. Almost everyone I meet has poor quality tattoos by the artists at this shop, and the piercings are a disaster. Its always a sign, when every studio in Austin will reffer you to anywere but Platinum. I've been going to this shop since they opened and can't say enough about how impressed I am with the whole team! Always clean (no matter how busy they are), Always fun, but most important ALWAYS PROFESSIONAL and have time to spend with you, to make sure you get what you want! They have always taken their time with me, my daughter and everyone I've refered to them. My daughter was nervous about getting her ears repierced but Parker put her at ease, it was quick and she said she didn't even notice. We were extremely pleased and recommend Platinum Ink 100% to anyone wanting a pleasant experience and a friendly and professional atmosphere, besides the owner called himself to check on her and make sure that everything was going great and she was feeling good about her piercing- now that's really good, personal service- You Will LOVE Platinum!

If you've narrowed your list down to two or three tattoo shops , you might want to visit them all for an initial consultation and compare personalities, opinions on the type of procedure or tattoo. Im sure if you visit Platinum Ink you will agree the professionalism and talent is phenomenal! They explained to me that they believe that it is SO important that Customers have information available to them at all times that they encourage customers to e-mail them any time they have a question. There staff makes follow-up calls on a regular basis to insure an optimal result. Really how many tattoo shops will do that? they worked to create a piece of art tailored to me as an individual. Justin was very acute to what I had described to him. He was able to create a beautiful piece of art for me to have for life.

I was put at ease not seeing a green haired spiky kid doing my work instead i seen a professional artist wearing scrubs(something i never seen anywhere). Theres oil painting from a local artist on the wall and a relaxing reception area with a tv and games for the kids. I would definitly recomend everyone to stop by and check it out especially on sundays for there piercing specials the lowest in town 15 bucks and that included the jewlery!

I had a tongue piercing done here, and my friend had a tattoo done. The guy didn't have right size jewelry obviously so he use one that was way to small. When my tongue swelled the jewelry was pulled INSIDE my tongue. I had to have my doctor CUT it out!!!! Which cost me alot so $15 + $687 doctor visit = A really bad deal. My friend had to have his tattoo covered up after it was healed most of the color fell out and, it looked NOTHING like what we brought him. On Sundays they treat their customers like cattle. Its in and out.....they could care less about the people getting the body art. Talent was not up to par. The piercers were rude and filthy looking. The piercings may be cheap but the talent is missing. I recently had my nipples pierced there and the jewelry was fitted incorrectly AND the piercings were too deep. I had to pay more to get them corrected. I would highly recomment Body Rites of Austin for any tattoos and piercings. Simply put, you get what you pay for.....and its crap!

awesome tattoo shop! great artists who are friendly, playful, well-versed, smartly conversational & periodically hilarious! the place & the tools used are pristine--i mean SUPER CLEAN! so far i've let them pierce my nipples & have also begun the early stages of full sleeves & i plan to continue going there for all my tat and piercing needs. SO CHECK THEM OUT! chaos, cheryl, justin..you guys ROCK!
