The flashbacks were set at the right times...love the music, the outfits, most of the acting was fab and interesting. Different kind of action-adventure, but it worked. Worth watching again...

It's not for everyone. . .but the inside jokes and the 70's film references work for me- but I can understand someone not liking this inside-joke of a movie. . .but I loved it. . .

The movie version of Reader's Digest. It's all quotes! I've seen plenty of Eastern films, and this movie adds nothing to the quality movies it quotes, and imitates. The first Tarantino movie I saw, I cant help but think how overrated he is.

I was looking forward to seeing this film before it was released because I WAS a fan of QT. Obviously his films are of very different quality because all of his films before this one were enjoyable in more ways than one. This movie on the other hand was jacked up from the beginning. I HATED it! The whole thing made no sense to me. I mean, come on! Uma Thurman spent 10 minutes talking to her big toe!? The dialogue was meaningless and the animation parts were nausia enducing. I don't like violence for the sake of violence, and this is what this film is to me. This is one of the few films I actually had to make myself get through. I was so tempted to say the hell with it but I kept saying it would got better, but it didn't. I have never seen a more disturbing and depressing piece of work in my life. Hated it! BTW, don't say I'm a wuss and I just don't like violence because my favorite film is Sin City. And that movie aint no punk, ya dig!

Unpleasant, pointless trash from the most overrated film maker of our time. Tarantino is an uber-geek desperately trying to over-compensate for his extreme nerdiness. I suspect Comic book guy from The Simpsons would be a big fan.

After all of the hype that I heard about this movie, I felt disappointed after seeing it. Tarantino hasn't progressed much beyond overwhelming his viewer with gore, profanity, and an eclectic soundtrack. The action scenes were exciting, but during some parts of the movie I felt like I couldn't wait for a scene to end.

not as good as Pulp Fiction but thats an unfair compaison. Kill Bill has an amazing story line and has many original parts(anime and the black and white fighting scenes). I understand that the blood seemed fake but thats missing the point of the movie. For those who love blood and guts, HIGHLY RECOMMENED

Better than I thought it would be. And alittle better than it's sequel. KillBill2. Very violent, but, almost, in a cartoonish way.

Better than Vol. 2 (which, by the way was outstanding), Kill Bill: Volume 1 has the following superlatives -- 1) Best Martial Arts Flick ever; 2) Best homage to the 1970s ever. More obscure references [to that decade] than a 5-hour Dennis Miller rant; 3) Best Musical Soundtrack ever; 4) Best Girlpower Flick ever (My, my, how Uma has evolved since playing the helpless femme in Dangerous Liaisons); 5) While I think Tarantino is an outright jackass ( particularly by giving fathead turncoat Moore the Palm D'Or), you must marvel at his masterful directorial skills and cinematography; 6) Most violent film I ever saw (though most of the bloodshed is in the Roadrunner vs. Wile E. Coyote variety).

Tarantino takes all the best from the martial arts genre and packs it into one great, tongue-in-cheek classic.

I hated this movie. It's incredibly unrealistic and very cheesy. I personally find its ridiculous fight sequences to be a disgrace to all martial artists and especially to the legacy of the samurai (whose sword art was very poorly portrayed throughout the film).

Not a film I would normally rush to see but I'm very glad I saw this one. The cinematography and choreography is probably the best in the genre. It's flawless, exciting and keeps your eyes pinned to the screen. As for the story, it pans out well, keeping your attention but without telling all its secrets. However some of the violence felt a little gratuitous and then again some of it was almost comical. Superb acting from Uma Thurman who I had never really appreciated before. I'm definitely awaiting the next two installments.

This film was good, but it gets three stars instead of four or five for the violence, at times it was a bit much and a little unbareable. Uma Thurman was outstanding as The Black Mamba and her fight scene in the club with Go Go and the other swordsmen was brilliant as well as Vivica Fox's in the house. Notice how Quentin had to change the picture in the club from colour to black and white to reduce the gore we were seeing....clever. The best scene for me was the inserted anime cartoon with Lucy Lui's character as she tells a part of her childhood. I haven't enjoyed all of Quentin's film's over the years and let's face it every film he does is going to be measured on the successes of Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, but we can't deny he is one of the most influential film makers around today. He knows his stuff, writes his own material and has a passion for what he does.

very entertaining. its hard to not pay attention to this movie. i kinda have concern for anyone in a comma now. if you seen it you know what i'm talking about. they went way to far with the blood in this movie. it seems like even a minor papercut in this movie would shoot blood like a fire hose. but thats just my exageration. the action and the fighting in this movie are preety badass.

This film has a great story AND its brilliantly violent and bloody. This movie is one of the best in action movies (well of all the ones ive seen.) Its not for everyone..so for all those people rating ones and twos....you suck.

There was so much blood and violence it was ridiculous at times. The movie itself flowed really well and doesn't allow your attention to wander. But there's one thing I haven't figured out. How did the lawyer survive after losing all that blood?

good but extremely violent. Uma Thurman plays the bride who was supposed to be dead but survived an attack at her wedding. she is in a coma for four years and then vows to kill the enemies that betrayed her. A lot of martial arts if you like that kind of movie. well done but as I mentioned before very violent.

Finally! A action movie with women fighting and being into martial arts! We get to see not only Vivica A. Fox show off her great fighting moves, But Lucy Liu with a samurai sword, and did I forget Daryl Hannah as a psychotic nurse? This film isn't gory much. Critics say it is, but the violence and the blood is unbelievably cheesy. The blood spewing out from cut limbs is practically orange! And sadly, Vivica A. Fox doesn't get much time in this film. But it was well-directed and different and more creative than other action films.

This was really good. There was a ton of action and the fight scenes were great. The movie also had the typical Quentin Tarrentino feel. I'm excited for the second one.

I think the movie was okay, but too full of itself. The animation portion is a prime example of the movie trying to hard to be original. Also, is there any fake blood left for any of the other movies, or did Kill Bill pretty much wipe out the entire supply? It tried for shock value with excessive blood and gore - which, as another poster said, made it seem comical. However, a redeeming quality of the movie is its story line. Except for the whole wise-japanese sword master part, I was thoroughly engrossed within the plot. Like I said, it's okay, but somewhat overdone.

Fantastic! An energetic, colourful slice of martial arts mayhem, with a great female lead, wonderful fight scenes and absolutely spot-on music. The music alone is woth seeing this film for. As for the violence, it's a Tarentino movie!! You knew that before you went to see it so why see a Tarentino flick if you morally object to the severing of body parts? It seems slightly masochistic to me to watch a violent film if you're squeamish.

I did not like Pulp Fiction. However, I do love this movie, and can't wait for part 2. Great homage to kung fu movies with a definite injection of american style. Very violent, definitely not for kids. The movie is full of symbolism and obscure references that many people will not get.

Boy howdy, you can expect decapitations, dismemberment, spraying blood, very graphic murders etc. This is sure one of the most voilent films I have ever seen. Music is consistently fantastic throughout and peaks at the gratingly brilliant renditions of various 60's numbers performed by a Japanese girl band. A fairly big section of this movie is actually animated, very well at that. Needless to say the fight scenes are excellent and peaks at a scene where the main heroine faces off against hordes of black suited men (hmm). This film of course reeks of retro and obviously tries SO hard to be a bruce lee movie but as one of my fellow reviewers said, is similar to live action anime. I mean it's got a cute martial arts knowing schoolgirl in it, what more proof do you need? Overall, its well reccomended (though NOT for the faint hearted).

I do love Tarintino's work and after watching this I feel he has excelled himself. The direction in this film is just simply beautiful. This doesn't been much meaningful spoken dialogue as the action, movement and reaction of the characers is enough for you to know what is going on. There is an interesting mix of film and animation which gels wonderfully. The fighting scenes are choreographered to perfection. Well worth seeing and I am definately going to see the second one.

I'm usually not a big fan of Tarantino's work, but this was a damn good movie. A woman goes on a bloody spree of revenge after waking from a four-year coma (Edited: Alright, about the storyline: One, it was a Tarantino movie. Two, the title is "Kill Bill". Are you really expecting something highly intellectual or philosophical from it? Some extreme mind-blowing revelation? What did you expect?). Excellent fight choreography and cinematography, it's artistically one of the best "kung fu" movies that I've ever seen. This is truly a live-action anime. The spraying blood had been a bit gratuitous, to the point of being humorous, and there's a key point in the movie where you'll wish you didn't get the super-huge-mega-value drink before the movie (you'll know it when you see it, trust me). I wasn't a big fan of the music, but it's something you either love or hate. Definately worth the $8.50, and already worth the extra $8.50 I'll spend watching vol.2.

It appears that the quality of Quinton Tarrention's movies are on a decline (especially with Kill Bill). This movie was on extreme overkill with an attempt to be extremely retro and original. He was definitely trying too hard on those aspects when making this film. Some may say that he really isn't tryng too hard. it's just how the movie appears. PULP FICTION was original and retro!! This goes way far beyond that film, and into just plain insanity, stupidity, and boredom. The atmospheric colors in the beginning scene at Vivica A. Fox's house is proof enough. There was so much unneeded and unexciting dialogue and scene footage all throughout the film (ex. Swordmaker's resturant scene (not funny), and the dojo/kereoke bar scene where the camera would continuously go up and down the staris and repeat for 5 minutes. This was to be a four hour movie? There was no need for a volume two. If the 2nd movie is anything like the first, then you can edit an hour out of each movie, slap them togeth... Read more
