Moderate prices and below-average customer service were probably two contributing reasons to the demise of this company.

Not happy at all with service. Frequent crashes, quarky preformance. I have no option but to use this service in my community. Would pay more if DSL was available.

If I could give this a lower rating I would. Adelphia is the worst cable company EVER!!! Do not get Adelphia!!! I signed up for this service because it's the only one in my area for high-speed internet. The install tech was supposed to come between 8-11 .. he showed up at 6PM and told us he didn't have the equipment to install our cable and internet - and would come back "1st thing" tomorrow. "1st thing" ended up being noon. So two missed days of work. Secondly, I asked for digital cable tv with DVR.. he didn't have it. He just left the cable modem for us to install. That was his idea of installation. I had to call to get that set up too because he didn't put the right "codes" on our account said the so-called customer service dept. (only to find out later that the charge for a DVR is $14.00 a month!) That was just the beginning of our problems! We have had to phone them about one problem or another 12 times in three months. The final straw was getting my cable bill this ... Read more

I made a payment by check to Adelphia - - the CSR said it was returned so we owed this amount + $25 - - it was returned because of an entry error, not because of a NSF or anything of our fault. Out of the blue the CSR said that their people don't make mistakes, they ask for verifications twice - - She instantly put all of the blame on me. Very poor (and may I add ignorant)CSR work.

I have had adelphia for less than two months and I have already memorized the customer service number.. I have spoken with over ten different tech support guys and each one gave me a different answer. I play alof of FPS's and I recognize the second my connection speed changes. I explained my problem to each tech and finally the last one told me that the Atlanta/cumming backbone was running at full capacity and there was not any available bandwith. He also told me it would be 2-4 months before it would be fixed and I have no other alternative services other than ISDN.. which sucks even more. I'm really hoping comcast takes over my section of adelphia soon.

I live and die by my internet connection. Work from home and must have reliability and support for complex home LAN. If this is you also, stay as far away from Adelphia as possible. My biggest grip, besides the 8 hours of down time after a power outage once because "it is just cable", is the fact that you cannot setup a dualboot system. Why? Any reasonably competent tech person would understand. They attempt to register the mac address somehow automatically for every new computer in your LAN. This means you get the red Adelphia screen of death every time you try to access anything on the internet. I cannot tell you how much I loathe their service. In 15 years as an internet/broadband customer from services all over the country I have _never_ had such a horrible experience. I don't normally take time for this sort of review thing, but I absolutely had to in this case. Stay away from Adelphia. I am switching to DSL and taking the bandwidth drop just because of these troubles. BTW, I hav... Read more

If I could give a lower rating, I would. I pay $90 a month for basic cable and highspeed internet. For the first month I had internet, it would stop working every hour or so, forcing me to shut down my computer, unplug the modem, and reboot everything. Sometimes it wouldn't even make it 10 minutes before doing it again. I know it wasn't just my computer because everthing was mysteriously fine after about a month. The other major problem is that their online bill-pay service is crap. It keeps rejecting my payments and making my account overdue. Of course, they can't send an email notification, and of course it doesn't show up on the next month's bill. When does it show up, you ask? Two months down the road. And let me tell you, it is a nasy surprise to go online to pay your monthly bill (on time, I might add), and find out that your account is over due. If there was any other cable company in my area or if I could have a satellite at my apartment, I would switch in a heartbea... Read more

As trouble-free as it gets - it just works. Excellent customer support on those rare occasions when it oes go down. And they keep adding speed and features, without increasing the cost.

Have had nothing but problems with Adelphia in the Cleveland area. They can't seem to get the bill right and more often than not the ONDEMAND channels are not working right. Customer service is a joke. They are rude and can't answer any any questions you ask them.

Terrible, terrible service!!! Especially that Cleveland call center! The reps are robotic, asking name & number, they've obviously never heard of common courtesies, (no please, thank you, hello, is there anything else?), when you experience technical problems, all you get is I dont know type of answers.

I had Adelphia as my internet provider and cable provider for 4 years and NEVER had a problem. The customer service was always beyond helpful. I recently moved to a rural area where Adelphia is not available so I am stuck with Direcway (which SUCKS) until I can come up with $3400 to have Adelphia run the cable line to our house. It will be money well spent. I highly recommend ADELPHIA!

First, let me say that I never have trouble with my cable service, HOWEVER, the price is unbelievable. They're even charging for On-Demand services (Starz, HBO, etc.) Seems like with every new service they provide, they want an additional 4-10 dollars per month. Starz on demand is provided free to Adelphia, so why the heck are they charging us 4.95 a month for it. Even their cable internet service has slowed down because now they have 'premier' internet service and they want you to pay an ADDITIONAL 19.95 a month for that. I think they've lost their freaking minds. I'm looking into satellite.

Absolutely the WORST ISP I have ever had! No communication at all between the support folks on the phone and the techs that come to your home. They make claims and promises that they never intend to honor. I would never advise anyone to use Adelphia!

Pathetic. Service goes down at least 4 or 5 times a week. The connection speed varies, sometimes it's very fast then at other times it's slower than 56k. Tech support is laughable. I've run into problems that tech support had no clue about only to figure out and fix it by myself. I tried talking to one person from India or someplace but could not get my point across and could barely understand his English. All this and more for only $60.00 per month...wow

All I can say is that I've had the service for over a year now and its been great. Even in the storms where everything got nocked out my cable came back as soon as the power. The speed is superior by far. How can you argue with a 3mbit connection? I would reccomend to everyone!!! This is a great service!

Worst customer service and tech support I've ever encountered! And I do tech support for a living and would exect to be fired if I dealt with customers the way Adelphia does! So far have lost two entire days waiting for an Adlephia cable person to do inside repairs. I've had to call 4-5 times during the day to find out why no one came at appointed time frame (8AM-12PM). Spoke with two supervisors who promised repairs would happen that day...tech is running late. Never showed up on either day. No one in Customer Support seems to care. Pathetic!

Adelphia is the worst company I've ever delt with!!! it sucks so bad, I can not begin to tell you. I spent hours and hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue with port 80, and it turns out the issue is unresolvable. They shut down our modem 'cause supposedly we send lots of email out and think it's a spam. No phone call, no email, just SHOT US DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY!!! And it's a business account. You would think they would treat the biz accounts with a little respect, but no...THESE PEOPLE ARE RUTHLESS! I WILL ADELPHIA WAS GONE FOR GOOD!!! And i'll do everything in my power to spread the bad word. BEWARE CONSUMERS!!!

Our Maine cable company was acquired by Adelphia about 3 years ago. Prices went up almost quarterly while service plummeted. Finally pulled the plug this morning and installed a DISH. When I called to have cable disconnected, NOW they are willing to discuss some pricing alternatives. Too little, too late.

I'm tempted to give this just a two. Adelphia cable internet is very fast, when it works. But I would say that at least 2-3 times per week, service goes out for 6-12 hours or more. So it could be great but instead frequently sucks. Highly unreliable.

Service as far as quick sign on great as for other things its ok The price is not $29.95 its much more..and If you loose your connection due to there problems and then explain to them it has been a number of days your out and want a refund for those days well the refund does NOT equal to what they charge you per day believe my trying to get money back because you paid for a service you could not use is like pulling teeth...

I hate Adelphia. I would change services but there is no other option for cable/broadband/dsl in my area; Not even satellite (there is no line of site to any satellite service from my house). My biggest complaints are: 1. Price. I'm not sure how it is ethical to charge people $90/month for BASIC cable and broadband. This is absolutely absurd. 2. Customoer service. Sucks. 3. Accounting. They routinely screw up my bill. No wonder they are bankrupt. 4. Price. I can't say enough about this. good god. Someone please start another cable company in my area!!!!

omg KR, what you wrote sounds exactly like what I am going through, I was without internet for 5 whole days before Christmas, I am so aggravated with them but have no other choice. The price increase is just ridiculous, next they will be asking for our right arm or our first born. Stand tough, I will do the same here in Ohio.

Can't complain one bit, my service is exceptional. Would never go back to satelite which was such a joke and they get you with there contracts.I get way more channels with Adelphia compared to direct tv -they charge you for every group of channels especially if you really like certain channels they say 4 channels mabe in 4 different packages and in order to get them you have to get 4 diff packages which cost way more then regular cable. Trying to get someone to come out and fix your picture with satelite is a waste of time to cuz they charge you $90.

Our cable and internet is constantly going out and we have to call to get a credit to our account. The cable internet is very slow compared to others, plus they just raised our rates AGAIN.... yet we don't get anything extra out of it. There are no other cable companies in this town to switch to... if we go with Satalite TV we can't get network channels... they've got us where they want us and all we can do is take it in the ass!!

This is the worst "service" I have ever encountered. They were not able to get the bank autopay to work, so instead of contacting us to pay by another means, they disconnected us even though a customer service rep said that the payment did go through and that we would not be disconnected. When we called to find out what happened, they said our account was in good standing and that our inability to connect was due to our modem and they could send someone out in 2 weeks! When the service person finally came out he found out that the service had indeed been turned off and that the customer service rep should have been able to tell us that. We would switch to another provider if we had any other option, but they are a monopoly in our area.

Tried it for 6 months and spent 20 days without connections. Support never came to fix or look at problems 3 times. Found out one time some "person" cancled the request and claimed they spoke to me before doing so. Only problem is she had both sex and time wrong, and at time she "spoke" to me no one was home. Packet loss stayed at a mim of 33% during the day and went up at nights and weekends.

For an economical broadband solution, Adelphia is fine. And it's only $29.95/month if you own your own modem. Modem is $100, but after rebates (and I DID receive mine) the cost of the modem is $0. Good deal. Tell ya what, if you go broadband, you never EVER go back to dialup unless the cable is down and you are REALLY hard up for the net.

No great, but far from bad. My biggest complaint is that any service calls to the house require either an "all day appointment: or a "half day" appointment - so you sit around wasting time for them to show up. Second biggest would be price - 39.95/month! I guess if you want speed you have to pay for it. Internet access has been great, superfast speeds, always up - no complaints here. Newsgroups access is average. Lots of choices, but multipart messages seem to always be missing a part and they don't keep article bodies on the server very long in the binary groups - a day or two max it seems.
