Everytime I come home to SF, the first place I want to go is La Taqueria for their excellent tacos. I leave the beans off and add guac.

Used to go there as a kid. Loved their tacos. Love their burritos. They went downhill for awhile, but the original owners bought it back in the mid 1990s. So much better than the yuppie burritoes being offered in the newer tacqerieas. Located near Deanda's Italian Bakery, which has an almond tort with rasberry layer that's to die for!

I've never gotten a burrito here, but the tacos are incredible. They're huge especially when you get it loaded with guacamole, cheese, etc. My one complaint about them is that it's very pricey for a taqueria plus they charge for chips. Two tacos, chips/salsa, and a drink will run you around $10.

This place is ok for people who never leave the mission but its not as good as many other places around the Bay area

The best taqueria in San Francisco, and I can't believe I'm saying this. I was virtually raised by the good folks at El Buen Sabor, and have spent some good times at Cancun as well. But La Taqueria just has better meat. And it's all about the meat there. If you want to, you can get a burrito of just carne asada. No beans, no rice, no salsa - just steak. And the meat is so good that it makes you wonder why you ever got any of the other stuff to begin with. This place is worthy of the hype...

How this place rates lower than some of thr others is testimony to the digital divide...i.e. people who know their Mexican Food not havng access to the net AND not being clued into( caring) about rating services...word of mouth baby, that's the real test!

Exceptional Mexican food. Very popular and with a deservedly great reputation. Almost always comes out very well on various "best of SF" lists.
