Although I only had a shot. I enjoyed the smoothness. Defenitly going to invest in a bottle, however this is going to be like my bottle of crown xr.. only for special occasions. At 200+ bucks a bottle it will probably be an investment in the future

I would say it's a bit unfair to weigh Johnnie Walker blue against it's single blended competition, but all's fair in love, war, and scotch. To be completely honest, Johnnie Walker Blue is sort of a capstone for those who wish to leave the blended world behind and usher in the age of Single Maltdom. Certainly, I enjoyed it's fame when sipping, and smiled at the friend of mine who introduced me to a bottle; plainly put I found more satisfaction in my first sip of The Macallan 18 yr. Certainly, Blue has it's fame and it's advertising, but no. For the price tag often associated with it, it's more lopsided price-wise than luxurious.

I wish folks wouldn't judge this scotch with singles. JW Blue is its own gold standard. It sets the mark for blended scotch whiskey. Extremely smooth, the taste is subtle. Just a hint of smoke while sweetness fills the palate. The finish doesn't last as long as a typical single will, but it's like the kiss from a beautiful woman... The pleasure fades, but leaves you looking forward to the next time... Enjoy the singles for sure. But every so often, treat your palate to the subtle elegance of this wonderfully crafted ouiski.

I have sipped many a Whisky and this one is in my A list, as is others. Peaty, Honey and smokey. A great sipping Whisky best served neat. Never destroy good Whisky with mixers, this is sacrilege. The price? Yes, very expensive. But then heck I can afford it so it does not bother me to pay out the premium price it demands. If you cannot afford to have a bottle, try getting four or five friends together to spread the cost to taste a nice put together blended Whisky.

For my most recent milestone birthday, a friend bought me a bottle of blue.  I waited until he could come over and share it.  We ceremoniously opened it, poured, and enjoyed the aroma.  We tasted it, looked at each other, and almost simultaneously said "That's it?"  I guess I/we just don't go for the buttery (oily in my opinion) smooth blended taste.  It just doesn't feel like Scotch.  If you like blended Scotch, I guess this is your baby.  It's just not for me.  I'm claerly a single malt guy.

Good but not great, smooth and aromatic but overpriced and overated. It's 100% sure that with the same cost you can buy s/th better. A fair price would be 100$. 3/5

A simple uncomplicated, over-rated scotch. Most blended scotches are designed for people who don't know good scotch. Do yourself a favour and try a single malt.

Am I the only one that detects a soapy aftertaste? Like many, my expectations were too high I suppose. I can't believe I blew over $200 bucks on this and now it will always taste like guilt. It's not bad though.

Blended or not, this is one smooth scotch!

This is a very good scotch; unbelievably buttery smooth, extremely pleasant to drink; however, it is a bit dear, and for people (like me) who prefer their dram to have a stronger flavor, its probably not worth the price. JW Gold is almost as good at about one third the price.

After the word smooth, Merriam-Webster should have a picture of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Bottle.  Consuming this blend neat is a privilege. I often give the Blue Label or Johnnie Walker gift set (found on eBay) for special occasions because it is just that... special.  This is not for everyday consumption due to the price.  I have also tried Swing which seems to be a hint sweeter but also smooth.   Hands down if you are going to try Scotch, you owe it to yourself to start at the top.  The history is interesting and noted at wikipedia.org.

If silk could be liquified, it's smoothness would rival JW Blue. An absolute treat to be savored with good friends.

It's ok for its type but doesn't hold a candle to a similarly priced single malt.

Comparing a blend to a single malt is unfair. They're two completely different things. A single malt has only one flavor base and only one shot at tasting good, which is why when they succeed they're so special. A blend is mix of several different whiskys to create a final product. Most "everyday" scotch like Cutty Sark, J & B or Ballantine's are blends, because they can use cheaper whiskys and are free from age requirements. They make a good introduction to Scotch: you learn the flavors and then you move on to sampling other products. The thing about Johnnie Walker Blue is that it's a blend that tries to be the very best blended scotch out there. By the time most folks have the cash and inclination to invest in a bottle, they have developed a taste for the strong character of good SMS Islays. This is a return to the blended stuff they've left behind. If you take it on its own terms, as an exceptional blend, it's actually quite a feat of the distiller's art. There's a real ... Read more

Good, but much much much much too highly priced compared to its quality. Find a single malt like Glenlivet for a better taste and a much better bargain.

About the most over priced scotch one can buy. Could get half the Classic Malts series (3 diffrent bottles of GREAT scotch) for the price of this crap.

After several years of anticipation, after almost buying sampler bottles on many occasions at duty-free shops, I finally got to try the infamous blue label for the first time. First off let me say: this scotch is smooth. Regretfully, that is all I can say about this. It tastes like nothing. As a single malt drinker, I expected some complexity. This is simply a flavourless scotch that is blended to blended-scotch perfection...no flavour at all.

I received a fifth last Christmas. It's good, but not good enough for me to spend two C-notes on. I believe the Black Label is just as good.
