I'm tired of having a happy go lucky football coach at Georgia who never gets pumped up or gets in his player's face! It pisses me off when he walks off after an overtime victory (against Bama, a game that shoudln't have gone into OT anyway) and says, "That was fun!" What the hell!!! The defense, which is supposed to be our stonghold, looks awful and has gotten pushed around all season long. I'm one unhappy bulldog that is tired of losing to UT and Florida (plus one or two senseless loses) every year and going 9-3 or 8-4! Soemthing has to change!

Coach, I graduated 1973 a member of the Dixie Redcoat Marching Band. I had season tickets for 12 years, and then quit because I couldn't take the heartbreak anymore under Goff and Donnan. When Coach VanGorten left, the change in defense was more than obvious to the casual observer. The next year, two teams including Florida had 14 points on us before we could even think to react, and then it was too little too late. In the big games, it has not changed since then. I am sure your defensive coach, Martinez, was and would be a good assistant, but he just does not have what it takes to be the Defensive Coordinator of UGA. Your allegience to him does not do service to either yourself as head coach nor does it do service to the fans who looked to you for a turn around after Goff and Donnan. The game against Tennessee today was just pathetic, in terms of preparation. Whether we won or not is immaterial in regard to your responsibility to make sure that the team you have, whatever the ability ... Read more

I think when people begin looking at one off year as the defining moment in a person's career, they need to begin to look at their own lives and think if their lives were determined by one year in their lives, where would they be? Mark Richt is a great coach who has done a lot to raise the level of his players and the SEC. Richt is a person who cares about his students and their personal lives. Mark Richt's ONLY downfall is the amount of Godspeak he uses.

when you start every season off with four or five easy games- you better have a good record.hes just one game better than Donnan,Goff and thats by beating Ga. Tech . He is just a decent coach-not a good one.

BTW dumbo, 4 and 1 isn't a split with the VOLS! Go a little deaper inside the numbers. We've lost games to LSU twice during their national championship year, and 2 to Auburn (one in their glory year). And of course Florida, if you expect him to overcome years of obscurity with a backup 3rd stringer at best...you're an idiot. Yeah we've lost some we could've won, but would we have been in those games if it weren't for him and his impression he's left on this team? UGA has lost 2 games out of conference and is over 80% in SEC play with him. Three title appearances and 2 victories. If you have a problem with that then pick another team and make it easier for those of us who are real fans to get tickets!

Mark Richt was a good assistant coach at FSU, and has done a great job so far in his time at Georgia. I think the Bulldogs will be one of the top SEC teams as long as Richt is their head coach.

I agree with the previous comments, but how many 3 loss seasons can Georgia have when they are Top 10 in recruiting, Top 5 in the SEC, and Top 5 in the country at any given time. Tonight's game against West Virginia in the Sugar Bowl, which by the way was played in Atlanta (home field advantage), and the defense couldn't a soul and then give up a fake punt which every one in the building, but the Georgia defense saw coming. Yes, Richt is successful, but in this day and age he has to win a championship. The SEC Championship mean zip if you don't win the bowl game. Especially against a Big East team like West Virginia.

OMG! I'm sorry, but it has to be said: All of you MORONS who say that Coach Richt needs to go/be fired clearly have absolutely NO CLUE about football!! The guy has a winning percentage of ABOVE .800 (!!!) IN THE TOUGHEST CONFERENCE IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!! His teams are always competitive against our biggest rivals, even if he doesn't win every game! (and there is ample reason to believe that we'll start winning those games consistently.) UNDER HIM, UGA HAS GONE TO THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME 3 of 5 YEARS!!! I have to ask WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR??? A coach that will win a national championship every year?!?!??! GUESS WHAT! THAT COACH DOESN'T EXIST!!! It's idiots like you who drive good coaches away and destroy programs with your unrealistic expectations. I only hope that Coach Richt understands that you all are the tinest minority, and the majority (read: 'Rational' fans) appreciate him and his efforts. Yes, he hasn't been flawless, but I honestly have seen improvement in clo... Read more

Richt is terrible in BIG GAMES. Notice how we've managed to lose several games the past few we should have won. Richt has losing records against Florida and Auburn, and he's split with the VOLS. He's great at recruiting and he's a good coach, but where's the big wins? The past four years we started high in the polls, had a chance to go all the way, and somehow managed to lose two or three really close games every year due to bad play calling in the clutch.

Artical in AJC said Richt should fire Richt. Amen. Auburn 3 and ten and he calls an off tackle run and kicks a FG? Then AB has the ball 4 AND 10!!!!! and they run the PREVENT!!!!!! then with over a minutue on the clock they decided to have a goal line stand? I am just a fan but why not let them score and keep the minute 55 left on the clock ?? Did he think they would miss a one yard FG? Wasn't our last scorring drive 75 yards in under 2 mins? Granted the players dropped the ball a few times but the playcaller gets the loss by a long shot.

Mark Richt should leave Georgia. You can not play the conservitive style of football he continues to play and ever win a SEC title, much less a national title. His poor decisions cost Georgia the Auburn game, and his lack of imagination and design for a different quaterback cost Georgia the Florida game. MARK RICHT HAS GOT TO GO!!!

Good man and excellent football coach. Sincere fellow, and I am convinced, a fine Christian. He's done great good works at both Free Shoes U and in Athens. Has had a spate of student athlete problems of all kinds at both stops, but if he sleeps well at night, hey...

Cmon guys, anything more than a 4 is just homerism, plain and simple. I know for a fact 99% of the DawgNation feels like we underachieved last season. Sure, Richt has brought solid recruiting and a more balanced, higher amount of success but we still haven't exactly achieved greatness yet, and the discipline thing might not be as good as we once thought it was. IMHO 2003 was his best coaching year by far with that OLine... good guy, but not perfect. Gets a four and I would understand 3's...

Coach Richt is an excellent coach. He took Jim Donnan's players higher than the ESPN commentator ever could. And with his great recruiting classes, the Dawgs excellence should continue.

Yes... Mark Richt inherited pretty good talent from Jim Donnan -- and won an SEC championship with it. Donnan couldn't even sniff the title game in 5 years. Richt got there and won it in dominating fashion in 2. Ask Mack Brown if there's more to college football than talent. Anyone who thinks CMR is a 'flash in the pan' is misguided or a gator fan. His last 2 recruiting classes have been on par with Donnan's so he's currently inheriting some pretty good talent from himself.

RICHT INHERITED A SENSATIONAL GROUP FROM JIM DONNAN! HE CAN THANK DONNAN FOR HIS SHORT RUN. RICHT HAS TO PROVE HE CAN WIN OVER TIME LIKE FULMER AT TENNESSEE AND SPURRIER AT FLORIDA. FLASH IN THE PANS DON'T MEAN ANYTHING. LET'S SEE IF HE CAN DO IT LIKE FULMER AND SPURRIER DID. I THINK HE IS VERY AVERAGE BECAUSE HE CAN'T WIN THE BIG GAMES-----FLORIDA/LSU! HE WILL BE FIRED JUST LIKE DONNAN WAS!

Anyone who thinks that Mark Richt is just an okay coach and doesn't have any control over the players on his team is an idiot and obviously doesn't know what they're talking about. Mark Richt is one of, if not THE best coaches in the country. You don't believe me? Watch Georgia win the national championship not only next year, but the year after that as well! Mark Richt is creating a dynasty at the University of Georgia. GO DAWGS!!!

He's an OK coach. Hasn't done anything special. His team is very disapllined and classy. This is why people like him better than spurrier and tuberville. I hope they do good.
