 | Ruby (16) 08/06/2003 | Jim Carroll's a bit of a pretentious S.O.B. if you ask me, but Basketball Diaries is still a fun read and it's no secret that "People Who Died" is one of the best songs ever. Carroll's unique not-rapping, not-singing delivery is infectious and the lyrics are just great. There's some other good ones on that first LP, Catholic Boy. Actually there are one or two good ones on the follow-up Dry Dreams as well, but some of it stinks of Doors-y pretention.
