Sure, come up with anything you want, just as long as it doesn't offend The Powers That Be. Then you get a nice little email saying "Your weblist was deleted because blah blah blah...."

An overall great feature when it is not abused. Although I do sometimes spot a fair number of WebLists that are pure nonsense or turn up empty, there are still several that seem pretty much worthwhile. We should all work together, and flag some of the bogus WebLists to keep RIA a great online community that is beneficial to members and visitors alike.

I think the weblist feature is fun and an excellent idea. However, I think if you are going to judge the weblists based on how they get rated..it might not always be a good idea. Someone could have a perfectly good weblist, but another reviewer could easily rate it as bad just because that person doesn't like the other. That already happens with the comments, why wouldn't this get abused as well? I see people with great comments get hit with lots of unhelpfuls all the time, and I have already seen this with weblists...

Mixed. They can be a lot of fun, even (maybe particularly) some of the stupid ones. I don't get all worked up, as some others here do, about the intellectual integrity of RIA. When in excess of two thirds of the items available to rate here are pop culture, some of them listed three and four times, I find it hard to take it's intellectualism too seriously. UPDATE: Love the list on the virtues of Chalk. Way more entertaining than those on the purported virtues of some reviewers.

Well, to update on my previous comment, RIA's user-created lists are a mixed bag, but that's to be expected. You'll find some fun lists, and you'll find lists that are blank. Comes with the territory, but altogether it's been good. UPDATE: . . . actually, I prefer the Virtues of Chalk list over many of the newer lists . . . . UPDATE 2: I place my vote for Virtues of Chalk as a buyback nominee for the next month.

What has happened to the weblists on this site? When I first joined last year, this site was full of terrific, fun lists. Now all there ever seems to be are idiotic, self-serving wastes of space. I would like to see the RIA powers clean up the lists. As a person who has made quite a few lists herself, I hate to see this great feature of the site being made trashy and useless by inane, self-absorbed reviewers.

This seemed like a good idea at first, but I'm disappointed to see the direction it is moving. People are making web lists that draw attention to THEMSELVES instead of issues, beliefs, events, products, or entertainment. It's a total waste of my time to write about Dick Dirk vs. So & So. And one young lady on here, whose opinions I have valued, now invites us to imagine her naked. I think she's too good of a person to do that. I'd rather know how she feels about various issues. She's already shown herself to be intelligent, by things she wrote earlier. I'd rather discuss ideas with all of you...not degenerate into the infantile material that's been appearing around here lately. Let's try to get RateItAll back up to the standards that attracted many of us in the first place.

First of all, great feedback on the WebLists. We listen to all of it. Just to clarify the RateItAll position on WebLists - we try and stay away from value judgments regarding WebLists. In other words, it is extremely unusual for us to delete something because we think it's a waste of space. It's just not what the site is about, and it could rapidly become a slippery slope that infringes on our freedom of expression. We will, however, delete WebLists that don't make sense, that are incomplete, or that violate any of the site rules. Which brings me to the next point - the WebLister tool is a community resource. It would be EXTREMELY helpful if the RIA regulars can help us out by flagging bogus (empty, nonsensical, incomplete) WebLists. Some of you do this already - and I appreciate it. If more of us would do this, it would be really helpful in cleaning out the garbage. One final point - the WebList rating factor is going to become more important shortly. Please give feedback ... This has some of the best entertainment value here, and frankly I doubt I would stick around for long if there weren't new, personal and sometimes off-the-wall lists going up all the time.

Redoedo, apparently you already owe RIA $1,500 for the cost of hosting your 30+ lists. You should probably get a job. Kolby, you only make one list out of protest and you choose.... sunflower seeds? BigBaby, maybe RIA meant that they will be charging you for creating such innovative lists as "Races" and "Funny Stuff." I would - I'd call it the "BigBabyTax".

I very much enjoy this feature. I hear that RIA will soon begin charging us to use this feature. The day that we have to pay for creating our own lists is the day that I leave RIA for good.

RIA told me that soon we will have to pay for them. Stupid if you ask me.
