Not an anime for the weak stomached, especially the End of Evangelion OVA that redid Eps 25 & 26 of the series. A mind warping anime that takes serious thinking to keep the storyline straight.

I HATED THIS SHOW! IT IS SO GAY! Sorry, but it is. I think I know anime enough to know what BORING is. Don't watch this, unless you expect to sink into your seat from boredom.

A giant robot anime in the same way that Twin Peaks was a cop show. Definitely one of the all time greats. If you don't understand it, watch it again...and again if necessary... It's well worth it.

this show is great for those that like anime, and mechs, and deep storylines and a disturbing plot. it will make you think differently about your religion if you are a christian, and it will make you think if you are not.

This show just lacks the greatness that other anime shows have to offer.

wthout a doubt this is one of the greatest animes ever produced, it has everything needed that makes up a successful work of art! though you must be alert and attentive to clearly understand the true meaning behind Neon Genesis Evangelion, but shoudln't you be attentive while watching any anime. Evangelion is closely snarled with the German word Evangeluin, which is a form of religion much like christianity. there are countless messages both subliminal and visual hidden into Evangelion, and that's one reason it becomes such a great series. So definetely go and se it!

I give it a four star rating because of the story line is really jumpy, and the design is a little less than stellar. You have to be smart and alert to clearly understand everything that is going on in the world of Evangelion, which is a very good thing, because it makes the you think. What originally attracted me was the interaction of Shinji and his dad. I thought it was sad that this kid kept searching for approval of his dad by becoming the pilot of unit 01- (Its been a while since I seen this series- at least I think it's unit 01?) I also like Misato a lot too, she's a bit of a drunk at times and really care free. Anyway- It's not one of my favorite series. I don't recommend a person to buy it new either, I say rent it first, or buy a used copy of the first 3 episodes. If you like it, then it's worth the time and the money.

Very good. But it will make your brain hurt and you have to see at least twice to make sense of it.

Evangelion was actually one of the first adult anime shows I had ever watched (saw it when I was 12 or 13...). Not suitable for younger audiences, as it contains countless gory scenes, adult situations, and is very complicated all around (of the symbolic and psychological sort). At first, I didn’t really ‘get it’ either, but it made me think and through pondering, I eventually grasped some of what the series was trying to get across. The whole idea of initiating the Third Impact (the evolution/ascension of the human race...maybe that was a spoiler...whatever, I don’t care) the way it did was something I found profoundly interesting. If you like mech anime and deciphering complicated themes, this is the anime for you.

The greatest anime of all time, hands down. Excellent Story, characters one can relate to, two different endings, amazing soundtrack, and kick ass mechs. There is nothing not to love. Those who are easily confused or offended may want to stay away. But those who enjoy thought provoking stories, or true to life characters who if they either love them or hate them just plain can't forget them. Then this is the show for you.

The first few episodes were *so* promising - maybe up until half way. And then... ::shakes head:: it got totally bizarre. The three - count 'em THREE - endings left me confused and were beyond disturbing. I know that it was supposed to be heavily symbolic, but the message was lost on me and those I watched it with. It's worth checking out as it's considered a main staple in anime culture, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it - or buy it .

It was alright I guess. I preferred Gasaraki though. Better story, better mechs, better music, and not nearly as convoluted.

This is the weirdest anime I have ever seen. I watched it in Arabic and the girl who did the voice of Rei had the slowest most irritating voice ever.
