 | alpepper (22) 09/20/2004 | Early on I was not a big Who fan. But You Better You Bet was an infectious little tune that was the definitive song of the Spring of '81. Here's my You Better You Bet story: I remember that year coming home from a rowing workout on the Schuylkill River and seeing a pair of cute teenage hitchhikers on the Roosevelt Boulevard. Being the goofy 21 year old guy I was, I took them home to have a few drinks. I remember actually getting into a slap fight with one of them, then making out with the other one in our basement and You Better You Bet was blaring on my Hi-Fi. Then my mom came down and I introduced them to her. While taking the girls home, I got the phone number to the girl I necked with. I said I'll call you soon. She said, You Better. I said, You bet. Of course, we never met again. I'm beginning to sould like Coot Veal.
