Their help in finding an apartment was excellent, and I really like the place where I'm now living. However, I cannot speak as positively about the mover's hired to facilitate my free move.
I moved in a month ago, and I decided to write this review now because I keep finding things that were damaged during the move. It's a free move so, I guess, you can't expect much. However, I would expect anyone to take some pride in their work and handle things responsibly. First, they showed up without calling a half hour in advance. Not a big deal; I'm just glad I was up, dressed, and ready to go. Of the three individuals, one spoke okay English and had to translate everything (sorry, I do not speak Spanish). Then, they placed multiple boxes at a time onto a dolly and transported them to the truck, with complete disregard for any of the boxes marked “fragile” in bold, underlined letters. Then, I watched one individual ‘move’ my mattress by himself. I have a heavy, memory-foam mattress that cannot be carried by one person. He pushed it across the floor to the door and then proceeded to shove, push, bend it without any regard for the mattress or the door hitting the wall to get it outside. Once outside, he pulled my mattress ACROSS THE GROUND at times. A very similar experience happened with my box-spring. Additionally, when moving large objects they were not careful of the walls or the door frame.
Once they arrived at the other apartment, regard for the door frame and walls still seemed to be of little concern. They piled things in quickly, connected my washer and dryer (one of the items that includes a fee), had me sign papers with no time to check my items, and left. After they left I started noticing problems with many things I own. My floor lamp now leans, no longer being able to stand-up straight with the metal having been bent. Both my coffee table and end table now ‘rock’ as though the screws have loosened in the primary joints. There are a few, albeit small, scratches in the legs of my brand new kitchen table. The cushions on the seats to my table which screw on were all loose. Two decorative gates with wooden frames have pieces of wood completely missing, as well as other scrapes. From one person carrying my mattress, it was covered in dirt and leaves. The black mesh on the bottom of the box spring was significantly torn in several places (note: I’ve only had my mattress and box spring for a little over a year so they were still in very good condition). Additionally, the fee I paid for my washer and dryer was supposed to include, as taken directly from their webpage, “Washer/Dryer fee includes disconnecting/reconnecting all hoses and vents, testing water pressure, and balancing adjustment”. If you checked my water and did a balancing adjustment, how did you miss that you connected the hot water hose to the cold water faucet and vice versa? Thankfully, the first thing I washed after moving couldn’t shrink. Also, there are additional scratches on my bedroom dresser that were not there before moving.
I will note the one positive was that they were very polite and respectful towards me. I understand there can be difficulty with a language barrier, but they understood I did not know Spanish and still worked to make sure we had fairly clear communication. Being a single female living alone, I was concerned about a group of guys moving in and out of my apartment being by myself, but they were very respectful and I was not at all uncomfortable. I just wish they would have been more respectful of my property.
Overall, it’s not a bad value for what it is, especially with how difficult it can be to move alone. However, if you choose to use this service, I highly recommend moving any valuables or extremely fragile items on your own (thankfully, I had actually done so as a precaution).
