the dimensions are of a 85,000 person stadium. how do you get 110,000 in? do the math. And there ain't many skinny folks attending.....BY FAR, the worst stadium in the big 10

The Big House, how can you not love it. Giant capacity with a good fan base and lots of history.

The biggest stadium that makes the least noise in the nation. A bunch of old men playing poker make more noise than this stadium. This is the "Big House" with "Little Noise" that Armanti Edwards built.

Michigan stadium is absolutely stunning! people complain about getting to the bathroom and where ever else but really how easy can it be to get threw 111000 people. I've been to michigan stadium severall times and enjoy all my time there. although i sure wish it was a lot louder in there i cant believe 111000 fans cant make more noise than that.

I HAVE BEEN HERE 19 TIMES. THE AISLES ARE WAY TOO NARROW, THE SEATS ARE WORSE, IT WAS NOT CONSTRUCTED STEEP ENOUGH UNTIL YOU ARE MORE THAN HALF WAY UP, THERE ARE CERTAINLY NOT ENOUGH RESTROOMS FOR MEN (I ASSUME THE SAME FOR WOMEN), BY ITS DESIGN, IT IS NOT VERY LOUD FOR HAVING SUCH A LARGE CAPACITY. RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF BIG 10 STADIUMS WITH NORTHWESTERN AND MINNESOTA.

I'm not a Wolverine fan, but I know that any knowledgeable college football fan knows that Michigan Stadium is, hands down, the best venue for college football in the country. There a few stadiums that compare, I stress A FEW, but this stadium epitomizes what Saturdays in the fall are all about in college football.

Michigan Stadium is the ultimate in college football venues. The renovations will only enhance the overall experience on saturday afternoons.Michigan Stadium is also set in gorgeous Ann Arbor and not in a crime ridden, run down hole in the middle of Columbus, Ohio.

Definately a great football venue. A lot of history, a lot of fans, and a good program make this a great place to watch football. Was a bit disappointed with the noise level though. I've heard louder from smaller places.

This stadium deserves kudos for its size. But it is showing its age and sightlines from many areas of the stadium are poor. I was expecting the crowd to be much louder than it was. Perhaps the stadium design doesn't do enough to capture and reflect the crowd noise back onto the field....or perhaps the fans are just not as into the game as I see at other big schools. I have heard louder crowds in stadiums half the size as this place.

You do realize that their "musically impotent fight song" is the only fight song in the college football hall of fame, right? get a life tbdbitl fan. the big house has no equal.

Michigan Stadium is the most overrated venue in the country. Maybe there would be more crowd noise if the place were more than a giant hole in the ground. It is extremely inconvinient to enter/exit the stadium or to be seated. The place was designed to pack as many people in there as they could, obviously the comfort of the fans was not taken into account at all. Because it does not utilize a double deck, like many stadiums do, you can be in the stadium and still sitting a mile away from the game with terrible views. Michigan Stadium is in desperate need of a serious renovation. The fans are typically rude and it does not take very long to get sick and tired of their musically impotent and highly overrated fight song. If the University of Michigan wants to be able to keep packing fans in that place like sardines, they are going to need to find a coach who is able to beat Jim Tressel and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Big House is old school tradition. The biggest college football stadium has absolutely no advertising in it! The stadium exudes tradition. I hope the planned renovations respect the tradition of the nation's finest college stadium.

Crowded, seating area is small they just add more numbers and squeeze everyone together. God help them if there is every an emergency. Takes forever to get in and out. Much more than any other stadium that I have every been to.

Was just in Ann Arbor on 9/3/05 for the NIU game. Here are my observations: Exits in the stadium are two-thirds of the way up--- long walk up and down the stairs! Very poor design. Let's hope a catastrophe never occurs with a full house, because no one would ever be able to get out! Also, inadequate number of restrooms, which you also have to climb stairs to get to! Unbelievable! Big, but nothing else.

Michigan Stadium, known as The Big House, would be better served to be called The Big Vacuum. Or maybe The Big Tortilla. I've been to 72 Division 1 stadiums and this is, without any doubt, the most overrated stadium in all of college football. Quiet, flat (seating area has lousey angle to field), cramped and quiet...did I already say quiet? The only thing more challenging than getting to your seat is getting to the restroom...or concession stand...or exit. If Michigan had a system set up where fans could parachute into their seats, the overall experience would improve. At least the band is great and the fans are cool and know their football. I'm not a Big Ten fan/alum, so I have no ax to grind with this school or stadium. But honestly, for all its press clippings, it's just not a very impressive place. So it has huge crowds; big deal. Michigan Stadium isn't in the same league with places like Tiger Stadium (LSU), Neyland Stadium (Tennessee), Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (Florida)... Read more

Can you believe I went to Michigan for four years and never went to a game? I'm actually a big football fan too! From the other comments on this board, I will readily agree that Michigan fans, the ones that are from Ann Arbor, suck. People never used to talk about teams on campus, they were so full of themselves and their money. I've actually been to a couple games before, and I do remember how stodgy and quiet it was compared to a Lions game, my god, Sundays at the Silverdome...I'm so glad I don't live in that town anymore, people were so frigid. I guess my reason for not going to the games was that the longer I didn't have to hang around the squares in that town, the better. I kept to my cool friends I had there and hung out on my own with them. It sucked going to school with robots dressed in the latest fashion...

I WOULD LOVE TO WATCH A GAME IN THE BIG HOUSE ONE DAY. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE THERE WHEN THE WOLVERINES TAKE THE FIELD. AUBURN RUNS IN MY VEINS BUT I HAVE NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR THE BIG BLUE. KEEP STOMPING THE BUCK TEETH [THE MOST OVERRATED TEAM FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS]

I have been to many games in the Big House when I lived in Ann Arbor for 5 years while with Borders Group. Very disappointing place. Only a name due to the success of the program and the number of people they cram into the place. I am of small stature (very limited butt size) and yet feel as if I am sitting (yes, standing is limited unless in the student section). Also, very quiet. I have been to games that displayed many top 10 matchups with much as stake - but on many occassion heard people cheer - Let's Go Red Wings (clap, clap, clapclapclap) during key third downs for the opposition - over the so-called largest crowd in college football. Very uppity fans as well - they think they are better than everyone else. I would rather go to a college game in the southeast - ACC, SEC, Southern Conference, SWAC, et al - to take in the atmosphere of college football. One cool tradition is the student section taking out and rattling the car keys during key plays.

Went there for the first(and only) time for the 2003 OSU game. WHAT A DUMP! For all of the positive national press that it gets, it is the ugliest, most fan unfriendly and certainly the most uncomfortable stadium that I have ever attended. I am a big time college football fan and I have been to several other on-campus venues. Michigan Stadium was always on my must see list. It was by far and away the biggest disappointment of all the stadiums that I have ever been to. I will never go back!

Everyone should experience the rush of walking into the Big House and seeing 100,000+ people together in one place. It made my heart rush and skin tingle the first time I saw it. This is the largest stadium in the country.

There are no bad seats at The Big House. From my corner-of-the-end-zone seats, row 92, there's no place a college football fan would rather be on a fall saturday afternoon. When the play is at the other end of the field, the giant jumbo-trons on each end-zone scoreboard is like watching the game at home with 110,000 of my friends. Go Blue!!!

One of the 4 or 5 quintessential college football venues. I'd give this an extra half star if I could, it just doesn't quite get the full five stars since the stadium design prevents it from being as loud as it can be, not to mention some apathetic fans (they have been caught on camera just sitting and drinking water or coffee, and reading books... seriously) but it is still far from quiet, and honestly, who needs home field advantage when Michigan is one of the most consistent college programs year-in, year-out?

The Big House is .....well....Big. Great place for a big time program like Michigan to play in. Because it's Michigan, the place is special. If this were, say Northwestern's stadium, it just would'nt be the same. One thing about the place is the damned bleacher seating. Dont leave your seat or you'll lose you space on the bench. You just know they cram asses in there to boost their attendance figures. Great place nonetheless. I cant complain too much. Last year I went to the UM-Indiana game fully expecting to pay scalper prices for tickets. A fan gave me his extra tickets for free. Go Big Blue !

College football at its finest. From the rowdy student section to the very top of the sky, there's not a bad seat in the house. The crowd is into every play and they keep the fun coming with plenty of great traditional cheers. Great stuff.

This is what college football is all about. The Big House! 111,000 people watching the maize and blue destroy their opponents. Can it get any better than this? NO!! Who cares if your crammed together, the atmosphere is great. And by the way, Jack Trice Stadium home of ISU is NOT louder than the Big House. And if it is, its the opposing team cheering, not ISU. The Big House is full of tradition and is the best stadium in the nation.

Go to the bathroom before the game children! Who cares about ameneties, you're there to watch a football game not sit on the toilets. This stadium is a great foil to Ohio Stadium. The great thing about this Stadium is that it isnt taller than a two-story house on the outside, but as soon as you walk in there's about 100,000 people below you. But anyway, great sightlines, great band, relatively quiet atmosphere (except for Ohio State games), friendly people, and cool choreagraphed cheers from the student section. All in all a really pleasant place to watch big time football. It's not The Shoe but it stands on its own nonetheless. Oh yeah, it could easily expand to 170,000 if it wanted to.

Ridiculous to try to cram people in seats that small, through gates so unprepared to handle the flow of traffic, not to mention, that you ever need to go to the bathroom. Impressive numbers, impressive history, but outdated amenities make this great stadium a great place to see a game once, and only once.
