IBC and Stewarts are fair substitutes, but they are still inferior to Hires. Unfortunately, it is produced by people who don't seem to be remotely interested in selling it. I have never seen it advertised, and even stores 100 miles from where it is produced have never heard of it.

A very good root beer still available in limited areas. I can purchase it at my local grocery store in Minnesota. A far better root beer than the one's sold by the big 2 soft drink companies.

It has been ages since I had a Hires Root Beer, but if I recall it tasted very smooth and very unlike any other root beer. Not bad...
